I absolutely LOVE Alaska Airlines! I've earned around 400,000 miles on them and I will continue to fly them even when I have to pay a little more than other airlines because of the service and care. Not having a flat bed seat for a trip across the country or to & from Hawaii is a negative, but the service more than makes up for it. Jeb, you should try their economy class service. Even in the back of the plain the flight attendants are better than any other major domestic airline.

I used to live in Portland OR, so flew on Alaska Airlines quite a bit. I have flown them 1st class twice to Maui! Exceptional service for a US carrier. Having grown up in Southern California, spending most of my adult life in the Pacific Northwest (beyond stints in Charlotte and Salt Lake City), I have flown Alaska many times and they are my favorite US airline with Delta running second. The only negative I could pin on them is that on flights from Portland to Chicago and back in 2013 they pushed their credit card too hard but that is it. Sadly I now live in Iowa and the nearest Alaska airport is 4 hours away at MSP so I am stuck mainly on American who is our only carrier (and one I had not flown on until this year) although Delta and United are only a little over an hour away at CID.
@Leonardo-cs9ij Жыл бұрын
I live in eastern Iowa, about 3 hours from chicago and the upcharge to fly out of CID makes it worth it to bus to chicago then fly out of ohare or midway for domestic flights sometimes; the 70 dollar round trip bus is less than 100 or 200 upcharge to fly out of CID but internationally it can be a toss up

I live in San Francisco and love flying Alaska A320/321. They have amazing interiors and service at Alaska prices. On the topic of no seatback screen, one Alaska A320 I flew on had the built in screen left over from Virgin America, which I'm really sad to see gone. Virgin America was truly my hometown airline! Another fantastic video Jeb. I am personally a huge fan of Alaska though I might be a bit biased (I’m an MVP with them). Through this pandemic I have flown them 6 times and can 100% say that they are the best airline right now in first and in coach. They are blocking seats though still offering a close to full service (unlike Delta) and offer lounge access for all first class passengers. Plus, there crews are some if not the friendliest in the sky.

Totally agree, Jeb. Although their planes look very nice, I don't have a tablet and often don't take my laptop on trips and so a seatback IFE to me means real luxury. Montana is served by Horizon Air, which is a subsidiary of Alaska. Every time I've flown to Seattle with Horizon was amazing. Comfortable flights, even in "basic" economy, with great crews. Beverage service throughout the plane included (in the time BC - Before Covid) complimentary craft beer and wine from Pacific Northwest breweries and wineries. Depending on the length of flight, there would be multiple passes with the free beer and wine. Since I have family in the Seattle area, hopefully this great service will resume PC (Post Covid). Alaska/Horizon is also generous in their compensation in the cases of overbooking. One time out of Seattle, I took them up on a request for volunteers to be rescheduled, and received enough voucher credit to book another round trip between MT and Seattle the next summer. While Delta is my national and international airline of choice, I will always fly Alaska/Horizon for any travel within their network.

Hey Jeb, I’ve flown from Phoenix to Seattle a lot, and I always use Alaska for those flights as Alaska is my favorite airline. One thing that I always like to do as a passenger in flying into Seattle is to always book a “A” window seat. If you get a reasonably sunny day in the skies, the flight paths into Seattle are such that you get a fantastic view of Mt. Rainier as you descend into Seattle. On exceptionally clear days, I’ve seen Mt. Hood and the Three Sisters. But I always book an A seat on the port side of the plane to catch those views.
@mrpotter3153 жыл бұрын
Adding my voice to the Chorus of Praise here but I was a Dallas-Based American Platinum for many years and now in the 15 years that we've lived in Seattle we are, by default, Alaska clients. Alaska is consistent with the Nordic Culture of the Pacific Northwest: Practical and hardworking. Polite but not effusive. Stylish but not flashy. Willing to innovate but not a trend-chaser. Mainly realizable, stable and reasonable. (Wouldn't make a bad spouse, if you could find one that fit this description). We don't fly much anymore so I generally pre-book First Class. I think it's great they are including the Lounge in the price of a First Class Ticket - it just seems like the logical thing to do and it irked me a bit that they have not up until now. Flying is such a drudgery compared to what it used to be that I try to take very opportunity to make it a pleasant part of the trip. If an extra couple hundred bucks can help keep me in my Zen Bubble on the travel days, it's money well spent in my book. So that said I don't know that I can make a generalized judgement about all the various services Alaska offers but the do a nice consistent job from my end. My daughter and I flew one leg on Alaska from Bozeman to Seattle last week. Very nice and relatively low stress. It was mid day on a weekday and the plane was maybe 1/3 full. We were in First and they are blocking every other seat, so it felt safe. Everyone that I saw was observing excellent Mask hygiene so thanks for that. Get those shots. Wear those Masks and Wash those Hands and we'll all be flyin' around by summer. Don't be thrown off by the Johnson and Johnson Vacccine numbers. While it evidenced a 65% efficacy for disease it was 100% effective in preventing COVID fatalities. So we now have 4 vaccine makers delivering serum that are going to keep us out of the hospital and, even better - the morgue! You'll hear some news stories about long lines but the fact is there is vaccine sitting on the shelves in many locations even now. With the J&J announcement Dr. Fauci said "the "cadence" of the follow-on vaccine supply is exceeding our expectations. There should be ample vaccine supply in the coming weeks and months". I wish I could sound as smart as Dr. Fauci when I say something!

I live in Seattle, and have lived in the PNW from most of my life. Ive flown Alaska and Horizon Air a lot. Pre-covid Horizon (alaska's regional) had some of the best in flight service IMO. Used to fly 3-5 times a year from SEA to GEG to visit family with them. years ago they started offering a free beer or wine on all flights with beverage service (to those 21 and over of course). On the q-400 the galley is located at the rear of the plane. I learned quickly (from wanting to board and deplane faster) that the best seats (assuming no checked or gate checked bags) where in the last 2 rows (they boarded from for and aft doors on that plane). Because you are right next to the galley they will often serve you first while prepping the cart before heading to the front and starting service. because you are all the last rows and flights are often only 45-65min when they get back to your row they will serve you again, and even give you whats left of already open bottles before landing. on empty flights from GEG to SEA ive managed to get 2-3 free beers as a result.
