So modest Taku. I think the salad looked amazing. Fish skin croutons and ikura made it 👌. I loved seeing you hop around different rivers and do some fly fishing. Alaska is just gorgeous. The vibe of this video is definitely a nice change. Super relaxing. Every video is really just amazing in its own way.

Love the videos but if I could make a recommendation I’d recommend getting a net with rubber netting your flies won’t get stuck nearly as easy and just Incase you catch a fish you don’t wanna keep the rubber net also doesn’t wipe off nearly as much slime off the fish like the fabric nets do . Thanks so much for sharing all your adventures!
@WadeBaune2 жыл бұрын
Good job Taku! I love it when your trying things outside the box. For the future, after you fillet the fish or butterfly in this case and you want to keep the skin on. The pin bones can be removed fairly easily by cutting down next to them without cutting through skin. Then run the top of your thumb nail between the cut pin bones and the skin from the back to the front of the fillet. They will come of the skin fairly easily. This is how I get boneless fillets of trout with the skin on for the smoker.

Taku; you're not a novice fly fisher. Plus for an SF city fellow you can rough it with a smile in AK camping environs. Unfortunate that you did not get to Fairbanks as graying (12-15 inch) in the late '60's were very readily catchable in the upper Chena River (2nd bridge) on silver Hot Rod spoons. I love that crispy skin too.

Hey Bro.. get the slack line to yer fly reel as fast as possible every time you hook up with a fish.. The reel has a drag system for a reason, and you will play those fish much better from now on..🙌

Awesome video. A quick tip or how i strip line at least is i dont pull from above my main hand. I use my finger as another guide if you will. That way you wont have to grip it again and if you do feel something just tighten your grip and set the hook. Tight lines!!

Since you are new to fly fishing, try to get your fish on the reel and not pinch the line with your hand. When you hit bigger fish the line will burn you or your leader will snap on a big run before you can let go. Great videos and look forward to them on Tuesday’s. Is the deliciously invasive series done?

"get somthin' on the fly" love it. I gotta check my geography I don't know how you cross canada to get back to alaska. been a while. glad you check the local fishing rules they vary a lot. barbless, no keep, numbers, everything. bring back some sea otters to eat these urchins and breed, we need them back. benkyo nihongo shimas, but only on the hirigana, haven't gotten up to katakana yet, benkyo. and it's been like 20 yearsish but you've inspired me to check back into it. I think I have commitment issues I speak a little spanish, a little german, and a little french, a little italian, a little hungarian, but not fluent in anything. It's just hard to figure out what to study and commit to. Your production value is great, I don't know how you and joc do it, but it's high quality. Dang your knife skills are encrible' (that is the french talking) thanks for that. I never toss salad I leave the toppings on top and leave the different dressings on the table so everyone can get the right proportions and choose their own. You don't have that problem since you know your partner and you're alone together. when you gonna stop buying cameras and drones and get a ring? delete that if you want to.

Love seeing you use a fly rod taku! Have a peek at the rocks in the shallow slack water of the river next time you fish, you’ll quickly find exactly what you should be imitating! There will be aquatic insects on the a lot of the rocks depending on the time of day, it’s always the first thing I do when I get to the river and I find it very successful! Amazing video brother keep up the amazing videos and delicious food 😍🙌
