One of the major benefits and pleasures when I retired was that I could now take my time and enjoy my travels more. I can stop and investigate or enjoy what I see any time I wish. It's no longer necessary to get from point A to point B directly. I don't have to stay on freeways or major highways. When I retired, I said there would be no more rushing. Also, I always enjoy hearing that someone has realized that money just isn't that important except to cover your needs and perhaps give someone a helping hand occasionally. Happy Travels!

One of the best parts of living life on the road is only being able to travel as budget allows. I remember the first time we had to stay in a place because we didn't have enough fuel to travel to the next camp 200 miles down the road. That was when I knew we were true Nomads. We had everything we needed, full refrigerator, full propane tanks, etc. It was a feeling of true freedom. We always have an emergency fund that we could jump on plane and get to anyplace in the Nation or Drive coast to coast in an emergency. But we don't use this for our monthly budget. The freedom of life on the road is like none other we have ever experienced!

After working so hard and long to become debt free the intention was to keep working every opportunity to have more... and more. But, that didn't happen. I slowed down and am just "chillin" right now. I'm noticing awesome stuff around me I wouldn't otherwise see and enjoying the peace. Thank you for the validation!! Exercise and the rich sensory stimulation from exploring so many new places, good food (I'm sure), and a caring companion; no wonder he looks like a younger pup. I own a mom and pop gas station that is pretty far into the country. The gas is higher because I am not branded, don't sell enough bulk gas to get a good broker. So, the ones willing to come out to fill my USTs price gouge me. Sometimes I have to pay more per gallon for my wholesale than people pay at the pump at the gas station. It sucks but that is why smaller places have to charge more for gas. Not complaining just sharing my experience with ya'll. Safe Travels!

Yes! A budget allows us to really see where you are - how people live. You could take your gas $ and drive til it hits empty and stay wherever that is til payday, but this way you spend a bit of time in each place. I love that you read the history and learn along the way. Oh, some friends were in several southern Canada areas and said they found lots of gf & plant based options. Thanks for taking us along. 🌞🚃⛺

Wow....Carolyn....was watching this video, after having drove the Stuart-Cassiar highway a couple of times, but most recently 2 years ago....and was waiting for you to see 'JADE CITY'!! You may be unaware of it, that there is an actual television show of that very place! You would have 'loved' it in there....there are actually jade antiques as well (more so on one side of the highway than the other) but we stopped in and spent 2 or 3 hours there ourselves! The people where very nice, but I'm sure you would have loved it... oh well, maybe you'll be up that way again one year! Thanks for sharing....oh, and you forgot to mention in Dease Lake Convenience store, also has a LIQUOR store! :)

I agree lots of money gets boring. In the end people have nothing left to spend or enjoy it on. Its such a great feeling to give yourself a treat now and then when you have to live constantly on a small budget. I have the best time traveling solo and no real plans. I usually have Target high points that I want to get to but don't usually have a set time frame in order to get there. I was a travel consultant / travel agent for about 15 years. The best trip I've ever been on was in 2015 when my target was Big Sur, California. I had done the PCH trip through there twice before but did not have a chance to really explore the area. On that trip I stayed in hostels, camped four nights in Big Sur in a tent, drove all the way from San Francisco to San Diego. I stayed three nights in a hotel in Dana Point California and spent more on that stay then the rest of the two weeks all together. What a joy it is to just take your time, check out what you want, leave when you want, Etc. You know the drill. Hope to meet you out there someday. Be safe the both of you. ❤️

When we were at Dease Lake there was a terrible accident on the bridge just out of town and my husband and another volunteer fireman had to look after victims until they could hunt the Dr. down which we were able to direct them by CB radio that when we drove around we saw a man going towards woods by Dr. office. Your travels are bringing so many memories back about our trip. Thanks for sharing this.
