Hi Brooke, five years later, I finally got to see Alone season 4 (I do not own a TV). I've watched the episodes up until the one just before you tapped out. I must say, your attitudes (yours and Dave's) were impressive, and the way you simply were in the moment, without complaints. Some of the other contestants seemed less prepared and some were even surprised at the environment they were in and complained incessantly till they tapped out. It may seem too bad your health dwindled, but, God knew it was all you needed for the experience. I've subscribed to your channel from the start, and I have not been disappointed. Being open about your faith in Jesus is a bonus to me too, because He is all in all, isn't he? Keep doing what you do, sweatheart, and Dave's channel is pretty darned good too. He is inspirational and ingenious. You two make a wonderful pair.

Hey Brooke, I just binge-watched season 4 over the weekend and just wanted to say your 'Starvation Vacation' commercial was hilarious! Also, the Whipple cabin totally rocked. I have some issues with the cheap trick editing the producers did in some of the episode intros to make it look like you and Dave were bickering when in fact when you watch the full segment those clips were taken from, you guys weren't bickering at all. (*cough* bullsh!t *cough*) And I know Team Baird won fair and square, rules are rules but I was so glad to see you and Dave not take it to the very unhealthy extremes that the Bairds and Brockdorffs did (the severe stomache pains, etc). I have more respect for you guys pulling the plug when you did. It's like you respected the spirit of the challenge, IMHO. You guys are awesome! :)

I too just found this season and enjoyed you two very much. You did deserve the win, always upbeat and entertaining. I do not understand the show being new to it. Why do they put people where there are no resources for food. Of course two big strapping guys were able to last longer.

You two were my favorite team, I screamed at my screen when they showed you tapping. "Noooooooooooooo, not Brooke and Dave!! Anyone else...ANYONE ELSE not Brooke and Dave!!" But seriously though, from what I've read and seen about the Alone show, they should really just call it the Starvation Challenge. The fact that you cannot hunt or kill big game and that even small game requires a license or is prohibited, is ridiculous. Obviously, they don't want a long production period and it's not actually about true wilderness survival. If Alone did a fan favorite, you would win 100%. Keep up the positive attitude and making our world a better place for our children. Much love and respect.

Hello Brooke and Dave. From the start my wife and I of 48 years predicted you two would win. Mainly because you had this man and wife companionship which in our opinion was very important. You were surviving so well and for so long. Having said this, my wife and I congratulate you for doing your best. Both of you seem to be happy and get along so well, it's obvious you guys are in love. Your shelter was just plain awesome, you did a great job on it. The next cabin type shelter you two built was even better. I'm Carl and wife is Debbie, we hope to see the both of you on maybe some type of all star show. We will be cheering you both on. Good luck in life and may god bless you Brooke and Dave, thanks for a great and entertaining show, Carl and Debbie.

Your health is always more important than money. As a husband I wholeheartedly agree with Dave's viewpoint as televised. You guys left it all out there, and there is NO way I'm going to see my wife suffer more than is necessary. I get it, believe me, I do. I'm glad you two pulled through okay, and CONGRATULATIONS to you for making the cut as well as giving your all in the competition. Even if you didn't get the number one spot, you won TONS of respect.

I grew up in the Northwest and it is an incredibly thick rain forest. The small animals there are never really seen. They leave no tracks and make no noise. A person needs to live and hunt in that area before they can become familiar with any of that. It takes years. Don't feel bad about not trapping any animals. It's hard as heck. There is just so much plant life a person can't even really get a read on them. I thought you guys did great on gathering food. I learned a lot from you guys and your fishing. And you and Dave gave that knowledge to the world. So thank you again. You guys were some of the best contestants to ever go on the show. People who criticize have no idea how hard it is. Nor do they appreciate the amount of work you really did. Just because there may have been one or two other things people say you could have done doesn't take into account the hundreds of things you did and did amazing at. And another thing critics are realizing is that was the worst weather I've seen in a long time. And again, I grew up there.

I haven't been able to watch shows like Alone for years because I've been building a cabin home, a solar system, long driveway, well, septic, electrical, plumbing, fruit trees, huge garden, pond, and the list goes on and on..I came across you guys researching cabins, years ago..And just recently saw your season of Alone, over the past few days..You guys did a great job and should be very proud..I've lived off the land during trips into interior Alaska and many other places, but with all the modern equipment required, and food I packed in, and it's still incredibly difficult..Most people have no clue..I got stopped from making my way out of the bush one time by a giant week long storm, ran out of all food, other than some fish I was catching making my way out, and had a very rough time getting out, energy wise and being able to think straight..

Brooke..... I just watched the show, season 4, and with regard to all the "experts" that are showering you with their advice.......... Trust me, they wouldn't have lasted five days. You, and Dave, did a GREAT job! I knew that there had to have been restrictions on what you could eat, because I knew that the shore birds were easy pickings, and you would have had their eggs and meat in a heartbeat. (I actually thought that that duck was going to get you in trouble!) Anyway, wonderful job! For a tiny person, you showed incredible fortitude and courage. From what we could see, you two didn't fight or bicker (as the Baird Brothers certainly did) and you demonstrated true teamwork and survival techniques. I have a hard time believing that there is so much negativity coming your way. (PS - I know this post is years old, but it's new to me.)

Hi Brooke, I have been offline or having a sporadic internet for the last six weeks and this is the first I have been on KZbin for a while. One thing I have learned is that these armchair survivalists online are really mostly overweight couch potatoes and really couldn't make it two weeks in the conditions that you all are subjected to. That being said there is no shame in you tapping out. 49 days in the conditions you describe, with the limitations that you were put under (not able to really kill and eat various types of sea birds, the health problems associated with Red Tide), and the health problems that you were experiencing I say no shame. You went out and did something that 99.9% of the populace couldn't do. OK you didn't win, but 49 days!!! WOW, AWESOME, GOOD JOB and LIVE THE DREAM! Love you and Dave's videos and I am pulling for your next endeavors. I would love to come and hang out with you guys some day and kick it around the fire and roast deer meat on sticks ;)

We watched the show and we were sure that Brooke and Dave would win it. We joked about them eventually building a mall, small community, hotels while everyone else were in primitive conditions. In the end, Brooke made the right call, because her body would have began consuming her organs next and when that process starts, it's tough to turn it off. I'm not a doctor, just a widower, which is why this old man lives in the woods, makes films and has famous friends cause I'm burned out like a chimney covered in creosote. I prefer the forest even as an amateur video creator, but no where near as good as Girl in the Woods, Reallybigmonkey, Survival Lilly (is that Lady Lilly with that Austrian film award?), and others. You guys are the pros. You did everything right. Except you could have built a sauna with the cabin...just thinking. You folks are THAT good!

Brooke... thank you for being so open to your followers. While it was a disappointment for us to see you and Dave have to tap out, I think this also offers you a great opportunity as informants to the community, which I probably already know you are considering. Exactly how would a person, or a couple best keep their caloric intake up in this type scenario. Honestly... we may all have to deal with this at some point... if you could share some thoughts on this in the future, that would be awesome. As far as what you had to deal with, Dave's journey to join you, the shelter and such... lessons learned as I see it. No big stuff. All food for thought however for sharing. I really really was pulling for you and Dave to win it all... wasn't God's choice on this one. So be it. Looking forward to all that you and Dave may have to share with your youtube community in the future. God Bless.

Hey Thanks Alan. What you need is to prepare in advance when there is actually game and fish in the area and things to forage. You need a boat and a gun. A net and go where the salmon are running. I was really pulling for you two! Sorry things didn't play out for you the way you needed them to. You both put up a great fight and have nothing but respect from me, as if that means anything. I really appreciate the time you took to give us a small glimpse of the insight into the real world of Alone. I know I have enjoyed the back and forth you have been doing on Fowler's channel. Wish you both all the best!

Thanks will share as much as I can though some things are proprietary to the show and can't talk about.

Hi Brooke, I was sad to see the need to tap out, but your health is more important, so full support on your decision! Team Whipple still won in my opinion. Your original shelter was better than any of the other teams final shelters, and when you two made the cabin, that was awesome! Too bad the fishing fizzled out or team Whipple would have easily won. Looks like it's all going to boil down to who is luckiest with fishing and it will be interesting to see which team lasts the longest, although I don't think either team will last much longer. I loved hearing more about your time there and I look forward to hearing more in the future!

yep we'll both be discussing it more in the coming months and the two teams left are tough as nails! Respect...

I'm looking forward to Dave's take on things too and I'm subscribed to his channel, so I'll be waiting to see his post/s after he gets back. Yeah, they are tough and are due respect for sure. I'm partial to the father/son team, it's something I would have liked to have done when my father was alive, but either way, it's all impressive none the less.

I was sad to see you guys tap out, you were my favorite team. Thanks for sharing your experience. It was interesting hearing about the things that didn't make it on the show.

Wanted you to win so bad! A rare learning experience few will ever know. So much to share with your son and daughter when they are ready. All viewers should know participants have to start carrying extra pounds to go the distance. Cabin looked like the insurance or trump card to cross the finish line in victory. Happy you got to try and share with us, so entertaining.

You two are just awesome-sauce! Deep respect and appreciation for your lifestyle and how you both carry yourselves along this journey of life. From my vantage I see faith and trust that all is well in the world is an essence in your lives. (Along with a toolkit of outdoor skills and experience) Love this! Fear = no bueño! Keep shining your light! Thanks for sharing and updating us on the Alone adventure...be well.
