I agree! The Alastin hydratint is my holy grail. I love that it does not feel tacky or have that bad sunscreen smell. It is pricey, but I don't have to use any foundation now, so I feel like it's a fair trade for me.

I love the tinted moisturizer, I think it performs better on the aging skin. I am 56 and do great with it, I agree on the color a bit too orange/dark. I also use Isdin eryfotona tinted and the color is better. Both are excellent for my skin.

I give Hydratint sunscreen 5/5! MY HOLY GRAIL! This is definitely my favorite sunscreen of all time and doesn't have that nasty smell or tacky feel. It glides on like butter and has never pilled on me. I think skin color is a big factor; I am olive skin and it gives me the most beautiful glow! It reapplies nicely. I also don't share the experience of the product leaking everywhere (used for over a year daily and neither bottle ever got messy). Keep in mind Dr. Dray is quite pale, so this kind of tint doesn't compliment individuals with fair skin tone or pink/peach undertones. I'd highly recommend to someone who is more fair-medium or medium skin with olive undertones.

I tried the Alastin hydratint and loved the finish on it, and it was comfortable to wear…but it was too dark for me too. I can use it like a bronzer for face, neck and chest in summer sometimes, if I’ve self tanned. It’s pricey, but also very pretty. On the bright side, layering TIZO sunscreen over SAIE tinted moisturizer ( also with zinc sunscreen) has been a total winner for me.

I really love the feel of it on my skin as it seems to control oil without being too matte or drying. However, I couldn't agree more about the orange color. It does not work for my light skin tone at all. Also, I was very disappointed with Alastin's customer service. I purchased a cleanser purportedly for sensitive skin that was extremely irritating. When I emailed them about returning it, they insisted I call them. Seriously? Who has time for that? I ended up throwing it in the trash. Will not order anything from them again.

I was influenced to buy the hydratint from LisaJ. I’m fair neutral and after my first use I was going to toss it. Looked terrible on me. Too dark and orange. Not good in hairline. The only way I got it to work is to first use a non tinted mineral sunscreen. I love Avene. Then I put a small pump of the Alastin over the nontinted sunscreen. Once I’ve finished the Alastin, definitely won’t be buying again.

I have been waiting for you to review this. I absolutely love the Hydratint Pro-Mineral Tinted Sunscreen. The tint works well for my skin. I don't like the price, but the tube is long lasting, and I love the way it feels on my skin. I have no problem with pilling since I do not use other products with it.
@cv7958
@cv7958 Жыл бұрын
If you apply sunscreen liberally, sunscreen generally isn’t “long lasting” which is my qualm with more expensive sunscreens. We subconsciously use less so that it’s “long-lasting” and feels worth the money. But you should really be drenching the skin in SPF and reapplying. That’s why I splurge on serums but no longer sunscreens. Consistency and quantity is more important.
@juulee
@juulee Жыл бұрын
@@cv7958 Alastin hydratint is long lasting when used at appropriate quantity. Not long lasting because less than adequate amounts are being used. That's my experience of over a year of daily use. It's my holy grail too; I no longer wear any type of foundation.

I love the tinted moisturizer. I have dry aging skin and was worried about the tint bringing out my wrinkles or making me look flakey, which is why I don't wear foundation. Hey Dr Dray! I am an IMG and have been working in Gen derm, aesthetics and alopecia clinics for a while in the US and applying for derm, hopefully next year. I want to say that the Hydratint is STELLAR for Fitzpatrick III-IV-ish in the colder/olive tones, I love it because most of the tinted sunscreens are a little on the orange-y/warm side (ie. Revision Intellishade Truphysical, Shaka fluid, EltaMD etc etc). I know a sunscreen shouldn't be gimmicky but I always think as a provider and consumer, and this makes me want to reapply time and time again, so yay for patient adherence. It is a fan favorite in a lot of high end derm practices at least in the Chicago area, it does come with a price which is a bummer. For me is a Holy Grail, IF I can afford it lol. The Silk Shield I only use it post laser procedures because that dimethicone-y feeling remains for a while on the skin.

Hey Dr. Dray :) Would love for you to review Alastin’s TriHex technology as well. I know their pricing is not on brand for you but wondering what your think about the R&D they put into developing their products. They’ve got those in vivo punch biopsies lol
@dguisinger
@dguisinger Жыл бұрын
I've been using several of their products, I have no scientific evidence that it has worked for me, but I have liked how its been working out. The punch biopsies they have in their studies are what convinced me to give them a try. I had been introduced to their TransForm body treatment after Cool Sculpting. I've picked up their cleanser, restorative eye treatment and restorative skin complex, and recently switched to their regenerating skin nectar before and after a Morpheus8 treatment. Definitely not cheap, and I can't prove it works... I just am happy with the results so far so I'll keep going with it. Their whole brand is built around TriHex technology, it would be interesting to know if it really stands up to their published studies.

Will doing this diminish its effectiveness? My foundation is spf 35. What I love about this product is how well it blends in to my skin. It doesn't feel sticky or drying like most other sunscreens I've tried. If it were closer to my skin tone, I would wear this in lieu of foundation.

Hi Dr Dray. I love you me channel and the amount of information you provide. I was given this skincare products by the skincare doctor office when I went into to show sudden occur of mild acne on chin and along with change in skin as more oily on nose, larger face pores and continued dryness and cheeks redness mild rosacea seems to be more due to stress and hormonal and sweet cravings. However they just put me on Alastin retinol 0.5%their HA serum and nourishing moisturizer and didn’t have their sunscreen so gave me viver sunscreen tinted. Could please do a review on their retinol as been 3 months using every other day along with their HA serum and moisturizer I haven’t felt much difference with pore size or discolouration and hydration. I don’t use vivier tinted sunscreen daily instead I use Paula’s choice calm moisturizer spf. It doubles the moisturizing affect which I like having dryer skin. I use 1-2x a week neostrate mandelic and 4% PHA and AHA gel cleanser otherwise use Q+A Hyaluronic cleanser or cerave hydrating cleaner. And daily timeless vitaminC serum in morning. I would love to have your feedback and your continue review on this brand as I still have enough to use up as paid major cost of it. Please would like to request if you could do videos more frequently for skin of color like Indian skincare which products would be better for darker skins as well. It might be just me, but when I use mineral sunscreens, it’s like releasing fire ants all over my skin- it itches a lot. It only does that on my upper body such as face, neck, chest and arms . Instead, I use them on my legs, since I had several tubes and did not want to throw them away. If you see a dude with casty white legs, that is me . :)

Same!, I hate the feel of all them. I can do it on my arms and legs just to use them up but they make my face itch.

I just bought the untinted silk version and really like the texture and how well it wears under make up. Have you tried the untinted mineral shield from SkinMedica? I love it (although it's different to wash off). Would love to know your opinion...

Hi Dr Dray 💕... Thanks for the video as always informative. I'm currently using the Eucerin spf 50 you recommended a while ago & I love it. So I saw they have a tinted 1 & thought it would be great oh what a disappointment the pilling makes it impossible to use. Sadly wasted

I used Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar (2x/day) for week prior to (Er-Yag) facial resurfacing. The morning prior to procedure, I swear I saw an improvement already. Right now is the evening after procedure and I am looking at Alastin reviews - it had dreamy texture & noticeable results. My skin LOVED it. Their website has (of course) a day & night "layering" routine of product instructions; I believe in exclusive use of product line to get best result. Their routine expense for full size $636, ouch!!! But I think I'm going to do it anyway; that hopeful.

Nothing to do with skin, but every time you wear that color or one close to it, I think someone needs to comment that it is is such a beautiful color on you. So if no one has, consider it done.

Can you or have you done a review on Perfect Image ? They have several products, I use their peels, they have several formulas and I have found very good results using them for hyperpigmentation and fine lines. A few of their products are Salicylic, Glycolic , Lactic and TCA peels varying in strength.

Are the iron oxides in my makeup sufficient to protect against blue light? I'm assuming they are, I'm just not sure if it's only specific iron oxides or if they have to be formulated in a specific way?

I also use Alastin Hydratint instead of foundation. It's 100% worth the price and I disagree with Dr. Dray. I have never had pilling and I reapply usually 3 times a day. As someone who is not pale, this sunscreen doesn't make me look orange; it melts into my skin. I'm fair-medium with olive undertones. For comparison, the Australian Gold sunscreen in medium-tan DOES make me look orange.

Dr. Dray, could you talk some time about whether the benefits of tinted sunscreen (from the iron oxides) could be had from foundations with iron oxides? I have hated every tinted sunscreen I’ve tried, so I’m wondering if I could get similar protection by wearing foundation over my non-tinted sunscreen. I’ve noticed that a lot of foundations list iron oxides at the very end of the ingredient list, but NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation has iron oxides as the 6th ingredient.

I prefer powder, I'm pale, tinted sunscreens are always too dark. Liquid I fear is gonna disturb my SPF barrier. I use something like Derma-E or Physicians Formula Mineral Wear SPF 30, used to use Innisfree SPF 50+ Whitening Powder too but I'm cruelty free now. Even just plain mineral makeup (Thin Lizzy or Nude by Nature) have titanium oxide, zinc oxide and iron oxides in them even if they have a low SPF rating of 10. It's the iron oxides I'm looking for from the powder not the SPF. bareMinerals or Jane Iredale would be another mineral makeup powder brand. All cruelty free.
