I had the great pleasure of meeting Albert King between sets at a tiny club in Santa Cruz, CA.( around 1986) I thanked him for the performance, and he turned around and grabbed my hand and said “glad to meet you little lady…” A wonderful memory ☺️

OMG Albert King Freddie King and B B King. The " Three Kings " of the Blues. Although unrelated they are the royalty. If you play them every day I'll never cheat on you with other reactors 🙂

Many years ago at a open mic blues jam at a bar in Monroe, LA I had the pleasure of watching the man that wrote this song perform it. Jerry Beach. He hadn’t brought along a guitar so I let him use my G&L legacy. Hell of a fun night

Albert King was inducted to the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame in 2013…. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan were the best of friends. They were regularly meet at Alberts home and jam. His induction induction into the Hall of Fame is a must as you learn who he influenced.❤🎉✌🏽☮️🤲🙏

There are many reasons SRV adored Albert King, and this is one of them. Their joint session in December 1983 will knock you out!

Albert and SRV did a show in Canada for TV which was recorded. King didn't really know who Vaughn was but was quickly won over after Stevie showed he was real. Do check out the video, which exist. I bought it on DVD... great blues playing.

This song solidified Albert's standing as one of Blues best. Along with BB and Freddie, the 3 became the Kings of the Blues. Amazing guitars, and the horns so substantial to a great tune. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Uncle Phil. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

This is so great that you reacted to this! I hadn't thought of it in years, but it was one of my late mother's favorite songs...she LOVED R&B & the Blues. Thank you so much for reacting to this!!

U. Phil - Your choice highlights Albert King's unique playing style and vocals. He played his Gibson V guitar left-handed and strung upside down and backward so her certainly was self-taught, a man of many talents! Harri, your review was informative and enjoyable, as always.

Wikipedia says Albert is 2.5 years older than B.B. But yeah, Isaac Hayes is almost 20 years younger.

Albert played the guitar upside down because he was left handed. He learned to do it because most guitars were strung for right handed people so if handed to him he could play it. He also never learned to use a pick. So good!!!!

Oh man. Love me some Albert King. If you're interested in listening to something else from him (probably not in a video because the views on this one kinda suck) I highly recommend the song "Lonesome". My fav Albert King jam. The "Velvet Bulldozer" at his best.

Albert literally played upside down and backward without a pick, a left handed player who didn't restring the axe. his " pet licks" are just part of the rock , blues vocabulary that are inescapable for anyone who plays blues and rock guitar. Jim Hendrix , Clapton , Leslie West, Jimmy Page , Mick Taylor, Jeff Beck and any rock legend were all heavily influenced by the man who created his own unique sound and phrasing unlike any other player. oh yes and SRV who could not resist the temptation to imitate Alberts licks and phrasings over and over and over time and time again and were simply part of Stevie's "sound".
