@AnnaS-cz1oc3 жыл бұрын
@@UnderTimothy Haha. I've only listened twice through. I have 5 more to go. Folklore felt more cohesive sonically. And slightly more catchy. I feel like folklore offers the kind of music that you can equally enjoy "on the go" while driving or walking, and sitting still with a cup of tea and listening closely to every lyric of every song. Evermore, on the other hand, feels more intense lyrically, and it's more of a poetry session. So if I set up myself for a poetry session, I enjoy it and it gives me goosebumps and shivers. But I can't say that the music alone makes me enjoy this record. Folklore, for me, you could take the lyrics out and I would still love it. Evermore - not so much.

I really think there is going to be a third album. I think this is part of a trilogy. Looking at the music video, where they have wandered once they found each other. The albums are escapism and you need to find yourself in escapism. The three cardigans she released. And this album just feels like a middle, you know? Deeper into the forest, but eventually, she has to come out. Or that is just me wanting more Taylor because there can never be enough.

I'm quite happy with Taylor's new releases. But I hope that non Taylor fans get surprises like these from their favorite artists too. Reason is, everyone needs an experience like this to escape the messed up world we're living in right now. Edit: Ok here's my honest thoughts on Folklore and Evermore as a whole after more multiple listening sessions. I've posted this comment at least a 1000 times so far but can't help it Lol Folklore is in black and white, Evermore is brighter and colorful. If Folklore is a 31st December, Evermore is the 1st January. The correlation between the two is perfectly represented by the two music videos. Same concept, but different outcomes. One left me broken, the other gave me closure. For example, the MV for Cardigan ended without closure. But the Willow MV picked up from that ending and did the same concept. "I think I've seen this film before and I didn't like the ending" But now we got another ending that we really like. Cardigan: You drew stars around my scars, now I'm bleeding Willow: Show me the places where others gave you scars So, although it's the same windy atmosphere, you can feel that the morning sun is coming up over the horizon. Many references are there in this new video like mad woman, invisible strings, seven, Mirrorball etc. So it was a perfect representation of what these 2 albums did for her and for us. Folklore is all about self reflection and coming to terms with the past but maintaining some of the pain and regrets. You can see glimpses of Evermore vibes in it too. But the train wasn't moving and she wasn't out of the woods yet. In came Evermore swooping in with swagger. It picked up from the point where Folklore left. The train was moving. Still carrying the emotional baggage of the past but not letting it stop her from going on a much needed journey I should say. Finally it's going somewhere. Both drew inspiration from fictional characters and drawing parallels between them and her own life. Such an underrated talent. And mark my words, Evermore is going to play an important role in her transition into the next era and future projects. Most artists struggle with producing a cohesive single album and here's our girl accomplishing that with 2 albums. Not to forget the throwbacks to past 7 albums here and there on these two. Now, some may like folklore better than evermore and vice versa. Quite understandable. But personally for me i love them both equally. Initial releases are like cramming for exams overnight. And I was a bit skeptical about Evermore because Folklore set the bar so high. But i'm an idiot. What do I know 🤷♂️ Give it time and be in the right frame of mind, devoid of the "initial release expectations" and Gold rush. That's how you get the story. In the end, Taylor proved why she's the best and knows exactly how to bounce off of an idea. Apart from 4 or 5 songs on my first listen, a lot of songs kind of threw me off and left me confused. But then I listened to both albums back to back over and over again. And it all fell right into place. Both definitely deserve our undivided attention. And if someone tries to make her feel like an old cardigan under someone's bed, we're here to put it on because she's our favorite through thick and thin....and for evermore.... Just a Proud male swiftie here. Cheers!! 🍻

You couldn't be more right on your comments about "tolerate it." I was that person who gave his all to someone who didn't appreciate it. When you said THAT was the saddest thing that could happen to someone, I looked back at those 11 years. But. It's been 11 years since that and at least I got out alive and with two wonderful sons. Honestly, if I'd had this song + "exhile" back then I probably wouldn't had felt so shattered and alone... So, my dear Steven, YOU NAILED IT!

this reminds me of when Prince did Hit N Run phase 1 and 2 just months apart. Perfect companions. I wish he was still here to help her thru the Scooter Braun bullshit. He sold her off a second time, and he knew what that felt like. You can't stop creativity. It's a perfect "sister" project. I loved Coney Island, it was the first track I heard. And I'm from there. Perfect mood. Cowboy like Me is giving me solid Emmy Lou Harris vibes. This direction is so comforting in such a dark year.

def a brighter tone. she’s singing in a higher octave also when in folklore it was a lower, darker tone and v piano heavy.
