I am so amazed by this. I expected to just be entertained and feel triumphant about The Naked Guru’s story but I ended up having to pause several times to reflect on the things he said regarding the ego. Hi, and, Thank you both. I am alcoholic. A lucky one to have my sobriety. Today was reminders to stay grateful and in the present. I have decided to retire in Thailand this year. I need to stay aware not to isolate myself. And to stay in prayer and gratitude. What a powerful video listening to two young men give great life advise from their experiences. Staying present ! Again, thank you both. Have a great day.

At 19:45, asking back the question to the questioner is a great technique to 1) try to understand the "question behind the question", 2) buy yourself additional time to formulate the answer and 3) also to make sure that your answer/reply is in sync with the questioner's expectation, IMHO. It's a great interviewing technique. 😃 Ryan is an interesting guy for sure ... not everyone (including myself currently) can live the way he does. Also, in Thailand, it would also require a strong, understanding and trustworthy local life partner.

Such an open and honest interview Pete , Ryan is very candid and fair play to him in choosing a simple life to live. Addiction comes in all shapes really from drinking ,gambling to shopping ….knowing you have a problem is the 1st step in rehabilitation and he done so well in knowing he had an issue and taking the steps to help self . Ryan is spot on Pete in what he said about you. You allow the people you are interviewing to finish the question you asked and that’s what makes what you and Nune do so well 👏👏 I will check his channel out

So true about negative events in life can be a “detour” towards a better future. -And we are all in a process of being a better human being. At age 70 years young, I definitely find myself more understanding and patient ( less judgemental) ) towards others than when I was in my 20’s & 30’s. And living in Thailand’s countryside has given me a chance to be closer to nature -slow down a bit and be away from the rat race of a big city or be so materialistic We humans definitely go through different stages in our lives so at my age, you can have empathy towards a teenager or young adult when they make a mistake in life. We all make mistakes but must learn from them 🙏 Good interview, Pete.

isn't that break in the flow of the interview in 18:15 such a perfect way to demonstrate that need to be in the now and not let ego govern your reactions. Pete that was really an impressive interview with Ryan. He spoke so fast that it was difficult for me to follow him. I had to stop and back up several times to understand his thinking. It was an incredibly profound conversation from which I benefited greatly. I really admire people like that because they live in the here and now and don't follow the mainstream. I also have great respect for him that he managed to find his way out of the alcohol spiral with his own will and to redefine his life. It doesn't seem important to him that he's great, it's important for him to be happy and content with whatever situation he's in. Some people in the world should learn a lesson from that. Thank you Pete for this video (--> 10K)! Greetings from Sattahip - Gerd 🌈🍀💖🌴🌈

I really like this guest's words, attitude, and practices regarding free speech or criticism. KZbin itself should really adopt the same policy. Personally, I would not delete (or 'ghost,' which is unethical and dishonest) unless it was vulgarity, communicating a threat (an actual crime), or an ad hominem personal libel of my son or wife. The rest is just 'water off a duck's back, pixels on a screen, that do not affect me or my life at all. They and their insignificance vanish with the same day's sunset. I really like this man's mature ego learning and wisdom. And honesty and transparency. He, like me, has concentrated on peace. We would be great friends if in the same neighborhood. Total respect. Best wishes.

Wow! I had no idea I’ve been subscribed to Ryan ‘s channel for quite some time it’s came up on my list of videos quite a few times I saw a couple gardening videos had no idea. This guy was such a psychological guru. What a great guy I had no idea here he was sitting right in my lap, literally and I had no idea until I stumbled across this channel, I’m definitely a new subscriber. It just happened to pop up on my feed today I have probably 15 different channels from Thailand and probably 30 different channels from the Philippines. Trying to make up my mind where I want to go and I have never been to Southeast Asia. I have 474 days until I can apply for retirement. I pretty much made up my mind. I’m not going to pick one place I’m going to go slow travel to all of the places that I question and make up my mind after I come back for a retreat from traveling back to the United States in the Midwest, where I’m from, once I make up my mind, I’m pretty much going to sell everything and move somewhere else. Mexico and Portugal are definitely on my mind. Along with all of my dream spots in Southeast Asia in Micronesia I have to find what country and what place makes me feel the most comfortable. I’m looking forward to your channel and Ryan’s channel. Really enjoyed the interview. Thankful for the step that you took to go find Ryan and question him about possibly doing an interview and having it all materialize. it took a lot of balls to go search him out and make it happen. EXCELLENT interview skill-set-allowing flow that got you, him, us all there together. I needed to hear this information to fix my life: my perspective & attitude. Gratitude. I have an Irish friend like you: chummy & light & then introspective honest & patient.

I still watch the guru channel because of this intervew. Keep the interviews comming I think everyone loves them and I have said it before you have found your niche which is outside the regular travel vlogs.

The story at 23.12 was great. A lot of ppl try to project their unhappiness on others because they mistakenly believe that they are invisible on the net. However, respect to this guy for owning up to and accepting he had issues. Having taken the step of taking responsibility for his own actions something few do these days he is now on his way to solving his issues.👍👍👍

Getting through the backlog because I missed a couple of your vids recently. Great to see you cracking out so many great interviews with people we are all familiar with in the local Thai KZbin scene! 14:00 - 16:00 is a really good little section on the merits and value of financial independence, for those who are following that pathway. Time and freedom is everything.

Hi Pete I enjoy your personality and content. With regards to handling negative comments I think that your approach is spot on ie dont engage and delete the comment. If someone feels the urge to leave a negative comment usually this says more about themselves ie their need to project their insecurities on to you. From my experience if you engage with their comments it’s not only time for you wasted in replying, but also if you allow these thoughts to grow this rumination can weigh you down which will affect your personal relationships with close family. Keep on doing what you’re doing.

Yet another great interview Pete I don't think I can add any more to what I already see in the comments. What I personally try to get out of all the interviews is how the stories they tell adds value to my life and I learn things I would never have thought of.

Fantastic, this is exactly how I think. I’m a big believer in something can be learned from everyone
