I love this about him. It is like he is truly and deeply feeling it from the inside and in the zone. I noticed he was more smiley and wide eyed in the finale "Out Loud", and I didn't like it as much. It didn't have that same unfiltered vibe. Either way though he is a musical God.

Catherine Pham that’s exactly why he shouldn’t have won. Laine will be kept in a 2 year contract with American idols label that wouldn’t give him the freedom to do as he pleases. They set it up so he’d come in second, to give him one last opportunity to show his songs to the world before they let him off and do his own thing. I’m already seeing him on tour in July! This was the best outcome for his success

Only watched idol this season because I came across alejandro's first audition on the youtube trending page. I was instantly mesmerized at his voice, emotion, and character. What's amazing to me is how when I watch alejandro perform, I forget that he's on a tv show as a contestant. It's almost like time stops still and that's really, really special. When he stops singing and the camera switches back to the judges, I almost wish he could just start singing his second song without any interruptions. The ability to just waltz onto american idol and perform as if it's your own concert is something only alejandro has been able to do impeccably.

Loren, so sorry to hear about your losses. I'm a 59 year old fan from way back when I used to spend more time than I should in the French Quarter, and Frenchman Street. I agree that Alejandro is VERY special and hope the vipers are kept at bay. I keep telling everyone that this kid is like Thelonius Monk, Robert Johnson, Chopin' and Mozart all rolled into one beautiful package. Martin Morales Winning the show is a curse. You’re not really allowed to grow much as an artist once you win due to all the strings attached. The show producers know this. Every pure artist that makes the show seldom wins because their the ones that go on to having fulfilling solo careers outside of the restrictive one-time deal AI provides you with when you do win. This was the one reason I figured Alejandro might not win and I was right about it.
