@@AMM1998 simul-rap is honestly a pretty common technique for elite climbers. Unfortunately, it's also pretty dangerous, as the recent death of Brad Gobright demonstrates. Was searching the comments for someone who noticed the lack of prussic or safety ropes. To be fair, as you well know, Honnold is a very experienced climber, and has done hundreds, or thousands of rappels in his life, I doubt he really needs a prussic or any sort of back up, that the rest of the guests would need.

I was waiting for them to meet the first knot to pass but wait! They both remembered they each had two 100m ropes so they didn't have to knot them! Amazing...

This was as painful for me to watch as it was for alex to have to take a day off climbing to “repel”

I liked how they actually tied a bite of rope in the middle and clipped it off to the guy line so the line couldn't actually pull through. I wonder if either one of them are ever embarrassed by the cheesy TV stuff.

Alex: Do we have this much rope? Bear: Yeah (audio cut) well actually the camera crew has another rope so we're good. Alex: Oh that's nice we don't even have to simul rap because the crew can bring down the ropes. Bear: Yeah that's a great Idea (Audio Back on) We going to counterbalance rappel!

Wasn't a counterbalance rappel but still pretty cool..Given the circumstances I would've tied off too

except how will they get their rope back?
@50StichesSteel4 жыл бұрын
@@lararoche1977 They'll send some young production assistant back up the rope to get it lol...You dont have to counter balance rappel to get rope back either. Make a bite, overhand it with a loop hanging out, get it around the wire and pass the other end of the rope through the loop...Done and very secure...Just make sure you only rappel off of the one side and not the other. One side for rappeling and a quick tug on the non rappel side and you have your rope back

Looked like 2 fixed ropes to me, and where did they come from? That rope on his shoulder only looked about a 30m.
