I don't like this Ruslan. Alex has actually stood in the way of many people accepting the Gospel, he is not a gatherer, he is a scatterer, and any soul that has come to Christ was by the mercy of the Holy Spirit. This is evidence experienced through one's own individual experiences such as things that you pray for coming true. An example would be you just became a Christian and you needed $200 for a new phone because yours broke, so you prayed for God to help you, then you randomly get tipped $200 at your waitress job the next day. You stack events like this up thousands of times which followed the same protocol (Having a problem, having faith in God, random increase in what you could only call "luck") and then boom you have a believer. This is personal evidence that can only be experienced by the individual but evidence nonetheless. Do you have evidence of the contrary?

Can I suggest that listening to alternative philosophical view such as Dawkins might seem confronting, and I can understand that regressing to an illusion could be comforting. I find no comfort in Dawkin's views but I do find his theories exciting and so I am stimulated by Richard's story. He's humble enough to accept that there could be errors in his beliefs but it hasn't tempered his exploration in the history of life on this planet. I'd suggest that religion is simply a ritual and something that most likely is experienced by most conscious species on earth. Describing religion as a ritual seems logical from my perspective and I think that Dawkins might agree. I've watched, not just humans, but many species perform fascinating performances that might be described as illusional and it's probably unlikely that most of those species have a concept of much more than a survival instinct.

The dude is a trained debater, man. Debate 101 teaches that if you can’t paraphrase somebody else’s position in a way that they would agree with, you don’t understand it, and if you don’t understand it, you can’t debate it. I think he has about as good an understanding of Christianity as one would hope for without having the Holy Spirit. It makes perfect sense, to me. Jesus showed my daughter His nail wounds and said He cries for the people. We aren't Catholic, and have never had that iconography in our home for her to know this. The babysitter heard my daughter talking with someone and asked "Who are you talking to"? My daughter said "The Man from the Cross, said His name is Jesus".

As a former atheist, Alex is missing a crucial point about fine tuning. Yes, we may eventually figure out how that exists based on our understanding of physics. However, that does not explain what initiated the start of the universe, whatever happened back then already had the right mixture of variables to ensure fine tuning. Scientists are bound by our current laws of physics which did NOT apply or were fundamentally different prior to the birth of the universe. He still would be unable to explain the pre existence of these variables and how or why they came together.

The word variables assumes these constants could have different values. What is that assumption based on? We have only one universe with one value for all these thing. The only conclusion we can come to is that they can at least be this value. Not anywhere can we get the conclusion other values are possible. Its just assumptions.

The literal moment I truly heard the gospels and had an open heart my heart was healed in ways no human could explain. It was as if I had went through years of therapy in an instant. Keep seeking and don't let yourself get in the way of the greatest gift known to man. God came to save, not condemn. I’m an ex police officer, every witnesses statement to an incident was always different from the other ones, people always see things differently, Alex is right here.
