Honestly shows like this have so little a chance in being a success because of the prequel trope. But Bates motel did everything so well. It had humour, horror, romance, crime stories, outstanding performances and a very good set design. Great show for binging.

Difficult to decide what to really think of him........ The only one who got to understand who Norman was....... Why Norman really was a tragic hero.....not a monster.... A victim, a young boy with a beatiful soul, made into a mentally destroyed killer by the events and circumstantes and the people who were supposed to love him, but dragged him deeper and deeper instead ..... Anyway, no excuse, Chick used and tried to benefit from everyone he met.... ....he used norman as well..... complex but cowatdish and corrupt character......... I don’t know.... Artistic, intelligent, but kind of narcissistic. I only liked him because he saw the real Norman...... Don’t think he felt anything, just saw it as a an opportunity to make money. Still, Noone else from the outsider knew Norman. For them he was a psychopath. Chick at least knew hw wasn't just a psychopath.

Chick is benefiting from something that brought Romero pain and heartache. Romero I think at some measure always loved Norma and when he finally had her she gets killed by her idiot psycho son. I think Romero killed Chick because he was an enabler and he unsuccessfully black mailed his woman about her sleeping with her brother. Chick was not any better than any other character on this show.

Watching Ryan Hurst in Bates Motel makes me realise how squandered he was on SOA, he wasn't given enough to do as Opie & could be very one dimensional (although I still loved him), I thought it was poor acting, but he's amazing as Chick! They could have done so much more with him.
