Very cool to see Katatonia get covered, the drumming on the modern era records (I personally count this as the first of the modern era) is insanely solid

Beautiful!!! I've been waiting for a Katatonia cover from you for so long ! I knew your energy, power, precision and groove would match perfectly with their drumming style! Thank you Alex:)

Loved this. Katatonia's percussive composition is always so interesting and engaging to me. The writing is so dynamic and built around the music; it's so brilliantly accomplished that everything feels effectively accented. Every ghost note on the snare, even the SILENCE in between things feels like a part of the music, and that's something that few can accomplish on any instrument. And particularly the drums. Hrvrd's drummer wrote that way. They're a rare breed. Anyway, you absolutely killed this and it looked like you had a blast doing it. Thanks for the content!

YOO this is one of my favorite Katatonia songs, what an unexpected cover! This song is so damn heavy and Daniel Liljekvist’s drumming is really cool. Thanks for this 🔥
@megarustog7 ай бұрын
The first katatonia track that comes to mind for me for drumming is "The Longest Year" off of Night is the New Day. There's this cymbal crash in the chorus that elevates the whole thing for me. Love me some Katatonia! This track has a lot of energy though and is probably a lot more interesting to watch.

Oh man, I remember listening to The Great Cold Distance and Night Is The New Day and being blown away by the drumming. So understated a lot of the time, seemingly simple... and then out comes some fill that is just so original. Honestly, some of the most musical drum fills I've EVER heard. Cool seeing you cover it

Its so funny seeing how many of us discovered Katatonia through this album 😂. It's an absolute progressive/goth/doom metal masterpiece. This album is the embodiment of what it means to 'age like a fine wine,' it gets better and better with each listen, and you slowly begin to realise how well composed each song is. They're restrained when they need to be, they show their technical prowess when appropriate, and their songs are just so musical.. a hard skill to master. Musicality requires maturity and extensive experience with your instrument, as well as being cognisant of the contributions of everyone else in the band to 'play to the song,' instead of trying to show off... something Katatonia do SO well. As a drummer, myself, I love to listen to Katatonia's drum parts. Leaders, In The White, Increase, and The Itch are massive favourites of mine. Their newer stuff still has that edge, also. Fuck yeah dude, more Katatonia covers please 😁. Love
