@@michaelemley7318ya, most famous band players form a completely different band or go solo when they want to involve new family members. Never heard of a long time band member being kicked out of a famous band to be replaced by a family member until this one. That’s just bad business for so many reasons. But EVH had a long bitter past and he had his ex in his ear way too much and too long. Never let a partner or spouse get involved in your business but especially not when you’re already famous and doing so well. It will always go bad in so many ways. But sadly alcoholism played a big role in these many bad choices too. Both are big reasons why a lot of bands break up. Some say egos too but everyone has an ego and they all get bigger the better they do for most famous people. You have to have a very strong ego to get past all the vultures. Though not all band members are wise enough to figure that out. Those vultures always play another big part, often the biggest, in any band trying to cope and survive so much constant BS. It takes some serious business sense and life balance to keep a band together and even that’s not enough most times. Too many factors can ruin things in a heart beat. Yes, sadly MA got sc*#wed when they did that to him and he didn’t deserve it. A lot of fans didn’t like it. I personally would’ve preferred seeing MA on that stage with them when they reunited with DLR. ❤

And what percentage does Sammy share with Michael… and wasn’t it DLR that also refused to even up the score for Michael and that would be a big fat hell to the no… As DLR said he doesn’t write he plays what’s written for him and that’s just the way he’s gonna be paid…Facts are Alex n Edward Van Halen DLR and Sammy made Michael a very rich dude…

The Sammy Hagar Best Of All Worlds tour with Michael Anthony and Joe Satriani was no money grab. They went out there and absolutely killed it. 2 1/2 hrs of hard driving Van Halen tunes. They put their all into it. Fantastic show. When Sammy is on stage he is NOT messing around and neither was Satriani. Satriani showed the utmost respect to Eddie by learning that stuff. Great show it was. Roth, on the other hand, is a waste of money to see because he flat out can't sing. Washed up lounge act. Having seen clips over the years of Eddie with young Wolfie interacting and how elated he was when he knew Wolfie had inherited his musical talent; there's no doubt in my mind that a line up of Roth, Anthony, Alex, and Wolfie on Guitar (the literal embodiment of Eddie surviving through Wolfie) playing just one show alone would be AMAZING. And you can throw a bone for the Van Haggar fans and have the cabo wabo guy come out for a couple of songs. You might have to tailor the set list to what songs Wolfie can play on guitar but watching him nail the "Hot For Teacher" intro like it was as natural as breathing at that tribute to Taylor Hawkins still gives me goosebumps. And it lessens the "but who's gonna play the guitar parts" anxiety for the fans. Listen, I watched this 16 year old kid play the bass guitar on stage with his dad and I literally thought they were playing the bass parts over the PA while Wolfie was air-guitaring. NOPE. He's just that damn good. I truly believe Roth did derail this because we have evidence of this reaction before. Remember the 1996 incident at the MTV Awards when all 4 original members joined on stage? But after Eddie told the press that he had to have hip replacement surgery, Dave's energy started to change and he was sour. Eddie recounted the exchange and he says Dave told him "Tonight's about me, not your goddamn hip." So there's historical evidence that Roth would have these reactions if he wasn't the star of the show or if he felt like his presence would be dwarfed by Eddie's shadow and that's so goddamn selfish. Wolfie alluded to it being Roth without directly saying it. I'm just fortunate that in all the eras of human history, I happened to be born in an era where I could listen to the greatest guitarist of all time and see him live at least once. That is enough for me. RIP EVH. Prayers to Alex. He's clearly heartbroken and the pain of the loss hasn't subsided.

Alex was willing to replace Michael with a different Bassist in hopes that having David Lee Roth front and center would be good enough to make up for it so when Dave throws a wrench into the gears of motion over something that most people would find obvious that needs to be done at some point during the show then yeah I totally understand Alex's frustration and anger over it. internet media "interpreting what Alex means or what his motivation for not speaking or participating in tour talks" But the idiocy to use " ALLEGED HEARSAY FROM DAVE OR SAMMY " IS DISRESPECTFUL PERIOD . Alex didn't sell all his gear, he auctioned the superfluous extra pieces and extra kits so others could enjoy them. Alex never said he would not play again . that's fake hear say . Alex could and would not join Sam's tour , because of issues still unresolved between Sam And Edward and Alex. the fact those personal issues were not mended before Edward's death , while stories of reconciliation between them all are false , no matter what Sam insists on. I Love Sam don't get me wrong , but its not how the closure should have been resolved period . THAT'S WHY ALEX WONT JOIN SAM ON THIS TOUR. ONLY THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT STILL REMAINS AS ISSUE KNOW THE TRUTH . NOT THESE MEDIA PERSONALITIES INTERPRETED OPINIONS REFLECT . THERE'S MORE BUT THIS IS SUFFICIENT FOR THE MOMENT .

I'm pretty sure Wolfie wants to write his own songs and play with with his own band. I've read that Alex would always threaten to beat up DLR and he said the same in a taped interview from the 80's. Alex used to get in fights with Ed quite often. My theory is that Alex and DLR disagreed on the tribute and DLR decided not to tour with somebody who threatened to beat him up.

I think Alex is mad at Sammy because Sammy talked about Eddie’s drinking in his book. Sammy has apologized for that a few times. Dave hates Sammy and doesn’t play well with others. Let’s face it without Eddie we never would have heard of David Lee Roth. Everything with Dave has to be Dave centered. Wolfgang is right too much disfunction in Van Halen. The real tragedy is perhaps the greatest guitar player ever can’t get a proper farewell tour because of all these petty things. I’m glad Sammy did his all world’s tour and he stated that this was a tour of his career (with heavy enface on VH material). I think Sammy would have done whatever Alex wanted. Dave only does what’s best for Dave. Just one guys option.

Roth is just completely MAD. His ego destroys everything. Reconciliations, trust,,,commemorations, friendships,,,Wolfgang got him the gig back in VH in the first place but now Roth is attacking Wolfgang and his Mother in podcasts now he knows that Edward is no longer here to defend them. (Paul)

@@MAG-li5jo Don’t buy that. Edward was the creative spark plug of Van Halen. He was its engine, its spirit of innovation and its creativity. He changed the way the guitar was played and built…and wrote some unforgettable riffs and great tunes….Rabid Lee Froth was a great frontman and media personality but EDWARD was the central creative ATOMIC NUCLEUS. Edward was and Alex are pissed that Hagar put them in his book that didn't need to be there in the first place for one . Hagar sold his Can't Drive 55 song for the Ridge Racer 4 TV commercial . He doesn't mention this in his book which is supposed to be about HIM when he crucified the Halen brothers for selling songs for TV commercials . Then there's all the lying . He quit . He said so himself . Even Mike said he quit . It wasn't Ray Danniels' idea for a greatest hits album . Warner Bros DEMANDED the greatest hits album . Yet Hagar blames Ray Danniels for the breakup . It was Hagar's fault for the breakup . It was something he said and did to really piss off Edward . The Halen brothers never said exactly what happened because it's none of your business . Wether you're on Sam's side or the Halen's side IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS . This is why Alex doesn't want anything to do with Hagar .

Wolfgang wouldnt have done it because after his dad died, Wolf really buckled down on finishing his solo album. Wolf has always said it isnt time to focus on his dad now, its too soon. So wolf was gonna do his own thing instead (as his dad wanted him to do). I agree theres gotta be another piece to the puzzle that we dont know yet between Alex and Sammy. Im sure it'll come out though. I have no reason to doubt what sammy has said either. Hes always been upfront about everything.

Gran velada desde Ciudad de México! Gracias por tu programa. Contestando tu pregunta. What is the truth???? The truth is both Alex and Roth wanted their own version of the VH music/tribute. Those two guys screwed the pouch with their arrogance. On the other hand The ONLY TWO WHO HAVE ARE: Mike and Sam. Their are doing it this year. Al and Dave lost the only oppurtunity they will ever have. They were more interested in their ego's than any tribute towards Ed. The truth is the egos of Al and Dave were more important than their love for Ed. Action speaks louder than words.

Yes to VH is my favorite rock band to come from America. And Alex’s book will be my favorite rock musicians book to read. My favorite line up for an Eddie tribute band would be Wolfe on guitar or bass. Another guitar player I would pick in the line up would be Jacob Deraps. Side note: In Deraps’ band, his drummer; Josh Gallagher sounds like Alex. Deraps plays original material but plays Eddies stuff so good. Anyway, so Alex, Wolfie, Dave and Jason Newsted. Deraps, if Wolf is on bass.

Great show Steve! Thanks for all your hard work 👍. Complicated thoughts, no doubt Van Halen completely redefined guitar based rock, emerging from a swamp of punk, dying disco and blue Jean classic blues rock and created a high energy alternative that would explode the 80’s and take music in an entirely new direction. Are they the first American rock band post British blues invasion to become a mega act? No, probably not, you’ve got guys like Skynyrd and Boston that blew VH away sales wise and tour wise. And Boston can claim redefining the sound of guitar based rock as well as taking the hard sound across different fanbases. I think it’s fair to say that early Van Halen took live rock shows to a level never before seen, with high energy and exact musicianship that other bands couldn’t compete with, they really raised the bar there. As far as the book goes, we as fans have been getting the run around from the Roth camp, the Van Halen Bros, Templeman and Havgar/Anthony for years. So many things (as you’ve aptly pointed out) just don’t add up and never have. I’m not sure we will ever get the truth, which is unfortunate. But, in the end, we cannot let egos get in the way of the Van Halen or Halens we love, the ones that hide in the record jacket and we get so jazzed over when we take em out and relive the magic with this timely sonic alchemy that sets us ablaze 40+ years later. And that is what’s important, and that’s why we’re here 🙏

Alex and Wolfie will/would NEVER work with Sammy solely due to Sammy’s book slamming Eddie and truth or not is irrelevant. The relevance is the total lack of respect by going public against the man that made him RICH

Curious about the book. From the line up options you asked about, I always prefer Sammy singing/performing (Dave was great for the decade he was with them, but Sammy's vocals, stage presence and lyrics are my preference). And for base Michael for the length of time and dedication he gave Van Halen and Wolfie since he's Eddie's son (have Mike on some songs and Wolfie on others OR alternate Mike and Wolfie on different concert dates).

Cannot wait to read the book!!. I think the reunion tour SHOULD be a tribute tour to Eddie as well!. I also think the ideal lineup needs to be Alex, Wolfie, Michael, and Sammy. Although, I do respect David Lee Roth, I think the Sammy years were just better and more lucrative for the band!. I happen to like Sammy's voice better. But, true Van Halen fans may disagree,,,, We all know that Roth has a huge ego, still,... but, I find it hard to believe that even HE would not want to acknowledge Eddie in every show... that just seems too heartless, even for Roth. But, I do believe Alex, I think he is an honest person, and he and Eddie were very close.... cannot wait for his book!.

Glad to hear Alex was working on a book, last I'd heard, (From Sammy) was that he'd crawled into a bottle. I'm still dismayed at how they screwed Mike over, I don't know how much he wrote, or not. But his voice was the harmony that helped make the songs so popular. His bass playing has always been solid, if he was nearly as bad as Eddie said, I don't think Sammy, Jason Bonham, Joe Satriani, or anyone else would be interesting in performing with him.
