I regret not betting because I picked him to beat Sergei & I wasn’t getting flamed for it either. My basis for said theory was due to Volkov being great as distance & Sergei mostly has fought shorter less athletic heavyweights minus Blaydes who chose to stay in the pocket instead of maintaining distance, those oblique kicks were amazing

I hated it when he got caught by Lewis.. Bcz I knew Lewis would just get taken down, while Volkov is a stylistically bad matchup to DC, since he's long and rangey like Jones and Gustafsson

Yeah DC would’ve had to have taken him down and submitted him early. DC is short to be on the feet with that guy for five rounds. But the way Blaydes and Aspinal beat Volkov on the ground I’m pretty sure DC would’ve gotten the job done- especially in 2018.

The blemish I always have and can't shake off with Volkov is how he allowed himself to get KO'd by Derrick Lewis. That's someone you need to beat if you want to be legit. Sure he has beaten Pavlovich this past weekend, but these fighters need to make sure fights they're supposed to win...they win.

deffo a stretch to call him the most underrated in the company. for most of his ufc career he was a win loss fighter, only recently he’s been able to put wins together consistently. sure, the sergei dub was extremely impressive but if anything people rate him just fine now they see what he’s capable of fully, against the top top end of the division.
