The Bridge Fire. This 250+ acres fire is currently 0% contained and has destroyed 0 structures, but threatens many in the evacuation zones. Aircraft and ground resources worked hard throughout the day to slow the spread of this fire outside Auburn.

The Red Trucks get all the visibilty, however the real fight occurs mostly out of the view of the cameras. The line crews and the dozer men do the real work against the fire. Those are the ones who risk their lives and get little recognition.

Although the engine folks who set up on people’s properties to protect them are also hanging it out there. Plus they may be laying hose to actually put the fire out and get it secured so it doesn’t just slop the line. But you are also right.

California needs another wildfire like a cactus needs another set of spines. This keeps up and California will start looking like the desert wastelands in the movies. I already live in the desert, so I'm ready for it. Pray for the best but, prep for the worst!

Problem is is that CA is a fire adapted ecosystem. Those brush fields are fire adapted from long ago. Most places that experience fires are fire adapted. Although w/ climate change the fire seasons are getting longer and the fire behavior more extreme due to long periods of drought. I like your statement Pray for the best but prep for the worst.
@hapyjac6713
@hapyjac6713 3 жыл бұрын
@@XAlpineSuptDN - You should say, "Problem is that CA WAS a fire adapted ecosystem." With longer periods of drought and shorter winter storms (little snow/rain), the grass and scrub will have a harder time each year. "If you're not prepping, you're not paying attention!"

The sad outcome of all the federally owned forests being mismanaged for almost 100 years. Back when fire was viewed as the enemy. Well now it truly is. Blessings on the brave and dedicated men and women who fight these fires, and my heart goes out to everyone who has lost loved ones, property, dreams to these fires. Also to all the animals displaced or orphaned or dead. They too lost their homes and loved ones.

Huge wildfires are no surprise. We allowed Arrowhead and Niagara to come in and cap off all the natural springs that fed lush green valleys that stopped fires in their tracks. The slow decline of wild life is also a tragic consequence of our actions.

I am live in California most of my life and I am retired now and it seems that brush and forest fire on summer is a way of life in the state. California should buy at least 10 jumbo jet 747 and converted them into water tanker to put out fire while still small. Helicopters and small plane are useless on forest and brush fires especially when it is too dry.
