My initial reaction to hearing that the Kingdom that appeared was called Alexandria was something along the lines of, "They're really teasing the IX fanbase." Then when they force you to look over the ruins, it took me a second for it to click, but when it did, It was a very sad "Oh."

this is the pick-up you need from the heartbreak of Living Memory. It even starts with the same theme but slowly pumps up and then finally unleashes the most uplifing musical part of the whole expansion. you're being comforted before told "let's say goodbye and finish this", as though all the voices of encouragement in ultima thule were orchestrated

I think this is a strong hint that ff9 remake is indeed in the works and the rumours are true, given the amount of fan service ff9 had this expansion. Not just this dungeon but one of the endgame dungeons also. Plus the preorder bonus items as well. I think they are trying to get more people who never played ff9 on the hype train for it, and this is one of the best ways they could have done it.

Nope, the leak came from an Nvidia leak which leaked many games not only from Square Enix including Kingdom Hearts 4 before it was announced. The Epic Games store also had an update recently that accidentally leaked a preorder bonus for Tetra master cards and a dagger set which isn't in the original FF9, so a remake is basically confirmed. Dawntrail is just another love letter to FF9, there's been a lot recently. Steiner and Vivi were in the Chocobo racing game along with an Alexandria stage, they announced a Final Fantasy 9 Animated Series which we have not received a trailer for yet, and Cloud and Tifa got FF9 costumes in Ever Crisis. I feel like there's more FF9 stuff that's happened recently, but yeah buckle up an FF9 remake is definitely on the way.

As an FFIX fanboy, it truly saddened me to see what came of Alexandria. Assuming this is the world of Gaia many years in the future from when IX took place, and Sphene is Garnet's descendant, it's not the happy ending I was expecting.

Second the thought that this is the best song of this OST. Soken is a wonderful composer, and his themes can be epic and sweeping. I love his work with 14 and 16. What he lacks in comparison to Uematsu is making the music feel "personal", to convey not just the grandiosity of the piece but the personal connection with the player. This piece breaks this mold, by directly conveying emotion through the crescendo. This, this was the point where I was crying ugly tears this one time on this expansion, and the music paired with the familiar yet unfamiliar Alexandria is the reason. Wonderful job, and I hope he continues on like this to become a true successor to Nobuo!

I honestly thought we could've save Sphene with Dynamis. I thought it was an alternative energy source outside of aether that they could use. And its more abundant than aether since the aether was near life while dynamis was all over.

I think it mention that it need life force to sustain them, normal aether won't work. SO Dynamis which is energy of emotion while can influence the life itself, it's not exactly a life force so I don't think it'd work. But that's just me.

It's a form of energy only Meteion could use anytime she wanted. The WoL can only use it during Limit Break 3. Other than that, there has been no instance of use using Dynamis or manipulating it by simple will.

@@leighg9o Disagree, he's definitely noticeably better at orchestral stuff but not that significantly, FF14 has such a unique soundtrack BECAUSE Soken (and his team, don't forget, it's not just him who composes, idk if this song is even him tbh) is always consistently atleast good at pretty much any genre they try, and they're not afraid of trying it. It's just a bit reductive to pin it all on 1 guy and say that he's bad at song genres that you're probably just not a fan of. Personal preference =/= objective quality.
