I am making Christmas cards with my landscape photos, but many are looking blah in print. So I googled “how to make landscape photos more dramatic” and presto, it took me right to your tutorial. Can’t wait to try it. Thanks.

That is going to help so much with so many sky segments I have that I feel I rob them of their diffused glow, especially if they're overblown in the original and I need to turn them down but they end up blue/gray.

Broooo, your editing vids are among the very best on the Tube. And you're far easier to watch than McKinnon.

I just wanted to comment on how relaxing your videos are. Its a whole different vibe from the other super hectic vids out there, like a certain youtuber mentioned in the comments below lol. I can tell this is a passion for you! edit: if only I knew that the backslash key was the before and after button hahaha. I also thought that radial filters were limited to being inside the image, I never thought to zoom out and create a filter. I am a newbie with lightroom, and have created some great looking photos, but it's nice to learn some new stuff.

As I mentioned in my latest thank you video, my goal is to always remain relatable. And after Peter moved from his house to a studio to his own studio, I just can't relate anymore. Not that there's anything wrong with his success or his style. Just didn't feel as connected anymore if that makes any sense. Thanks for the encouragement!

Hi Alex, coming back to your videos (I replayed it sometimes and discovered new stuffs), just a question about the image @10:48; I really love the rendering you did, how do you create this soft contrast (with a bit of pink in the shadow if I'm not wrong) Again thanks for your channel ! real inspiration for me
@AlexArmitage3 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly the pink is from using the color grading modules to add that color. The light is simply using the radial filters in a few spots. Theres a radial filter on the road in the foreground, one off frame to create that light from above. I think thats the only two. Maybe I'll do a video on this style some time?

Alex, great videos, thanks. One additional comment from me: photographers should strive to crop their photos in standard formats, such as 4x5 or 16:9, etc. Working with a magazine, newspaper, agency or a gallery and any custom crop would not be appreciated. Of course, sometimes this is not entirely possible, so what you did was OK.
@AlexArmitage4 жыл бұрын
Kiril this is a great point and is something I think about when I go to print photos myself. I will say however the majority of people watching my videos I doubt are publishing all that often BUT that is no excuse not to mention something like this when I go to crop an image. I think it's something to think about anytime I go to crop a photo on video. Thanks for bringing that up.

Great video man! Stumbled on your channel on my recommended channel and boy I do not regret clicking on it! Your videos are top quality man, keep it up! Small question for you: I've been using the similar technique for dodging and burning, but sometime I feel bringing up light in certain areas make it look fake. How would you go about deciding where/what angle to put your filter on to make it look natural?
@AlexArmitage4 жыл бұрын
I think it really depends on the photo. Take the one in this video as an example. Because the area I'm targeting has such contrast, ie those white clouds next to the darker rock face I get a bit more control in how my light affects each one because I can change the highlights to only really target the clouds and I could change the shadows to really target the rock. When working with a less dynamic scene, something more flat, it can be difficult because you just have to bring the entire exposure up. Also I didn't use range masks in this video to keep things simple but they would also certainly help.

Great video with a nice presentation. I guarantee I'm gonna be watching more of your vids. I'm curious about the Adobe landscape profile. From googling, it seems like a lot of people use this. However, I don't seem to have it as an option. If I go into "Preferences>Presets" I can see it in a drop-down, but I don't have the option to apply it in the develop module. Any chance someone could be of some help? Would love to try it to see how it helps my editing process.

Tyler, can you message me on instagram with a screenshot or picture? It should be right in the basic editing section.
@TKettle4 жыл бұрын
@@AlexArmitage I think I actually just figured it out. It doesn't show up only when I'm developing photos from my Mavic 2 Pro. Probably because it shoots in .DNG files. Maybe I need to find different profiles just for .DNG images. Thanks for the fast reply though!!
@AlexArmitage4 жыл бұрын
@@TKettle Yup thats it! I can't enable the profile on my Mavic images either. I believe the profiles are connected to the camera model? Don't quote me on that though

I'm not entirely sure who else has covered this to be honest. The other radial filter video I did uses a bit of it if you want to watch that?
@larryrudnick15194 жыл бұрын
I know you won't but PLEASE don't be like McKinnon. He's a good photographer but had to unsub because I got exhausted just watching his videos. I like the calm rational approach and found your technique very helpful.
@AlexArmitage4 жыл бұрын
Eh that's definitely his thing. I think it certainly attributes to his meteoric rise and success, putting energy into his viewers but I understand the sentiment of his content being exhausting and certainly want to balance that better.
