"Editing as a dance," I love that. I've always felt that my workflow doesn't 'flow' particularly, there is much back and forth and applying the same settings to a bunch of images is an anathema to me. To have someone endorse this back and forth 'dance' makes me feel so much better about my post production. Thank you.

Alex, this looks like a real innovation you've done here for an editing assistance tool. Kudos to you! I will look forward to trying it.

Thanks for the tips Alex! I like the dance and editing analogy. Lately I've added a slow twirl in my chair - about 30 seconds looking in the darkened room. Upon completing the spin I quicky look back at the monitor and fix the first thing that pops out which is almost always color balance or shadows/highlight. If I stare at an image long enough even obvious editing mistakes will appear normal.

Thanks Alex! I've been feeling like something is wrong in my workflow because I can't seem to find a consistent set of steps that I follow on each image. This video helped me come to terms with the idea that the approach for each image should be unique to that image.
@AlexArmitage Жыл бұрын
It absolutely should be. Every image is different. I will say I still find myself in patterns, but some images need different patterns.

Alex....thank you so much for putting this tutorial and Lightroom pack together. Just purchased it as a Christmas gift for myself. I've always been impressed with your teaching methods, live edits, and travels for the past few years. This is going to help me focus a bit more when editing. Keep up the good work!

Hi Alex. Great stuff this step-by-step guide! The presets should be automatically available in Camera Raw as well after installation in Lightroom, correct?

Yes they will work in camera raw!

I'm really super impressed with this "preset" pack. Even though I'm fairly competent in the develop module I really like this workflow for landscapes. Will these presets also work in Camera Raw?
@AlexArmitage2 жыл бұрын
Yes Ken, they work in ACR

@@AlexArmitage I purchased it and got them installed without any issues. I think the biggest use for me will be the presets that setup the masks. Thanks for spending the time to develop these. I can't wait to give them a try.

Let me be, at least, the second one to say: Brilliant. I've never understood the appeal of presets. I feel that photo editing should be more bespoke. Put in a cooking metaphor, I'd rather make it from scratch than go to the freezer and get the box. I think your Lightroom companion is going to work great with another work along tutorial I purchased a while back. I've been limited in my photography due to, well, life. But I'm back with some gainful employment and some regained enthusiasm. I'll be purchasing it soon. (Price point: great!) Thanks so much.

I have a small / curiosity I’m new on this kind of universe of edit a photo (RAW files) is posible to do all this job on photoshop instead cause I don’t have Lightroom software any advice about it ? Thank you so much for your video is super cool an informative Thank you in advance for your time if you answer my question 😅

Hi Alex, your editing companion is usable in Adobe ACR instead Lightroom ?
@AlexArmitage Жыл бұрын
Yes it is! I need to add that to the webpage. Multiple people have used it in ACR and reported it works fluidly!
@geoffreykingston4866 Жыл бұрын
I have just purchased the Companion and confirm that it works fine in ACR. The only problem I find is that in ACR, unlike Lightroom, you have to keep navigating between the the 'Preset' tab and the various edit and mask menus - which can be time consuming and cumbersome. Otherwise, looking forward to getting to know and using the Companion.

Morning Alex, I was wondering what you’d been up to the past couple of weeks… Although I’m not a LR or PS user I’d purchased both with the intention of learning, I never did figure them out… I agree editing is a straightforward process if a routine is followed as you suggest. Always do the same steps, or at least think about them… Early on I experimented with sliders trying their maximum range to see what they could do often realizing it was way too much… Subtlety is key, it’s what you don’t see that’s important. Try to direct your viewer towards whatever drew you to take the photo in the first place… Safe travels

Forgot to add...I've never wanted to purchase Lightroom presets from other photographers/editors as I want to be the one making the decision on my final vision. I love the fact that your preset package is simply a guided pathway to achieving that vision as I see it.
