I think Alexis just played with Bubba for a while to please the crowd. He could have knocked Bubba out in the first round if he had wanted. He pleased the crowd by not knocking out their hometown hero right away. The people got their money's worth. Thank you Alexis.

I don't think so. Bubba, I believe it's still a record, is the only man to win four National Golden Gloves tournaments and was robbed in the '72 Olympics. He was a quality guy and had a lot of heart. Alexis may have been able to get him earlier but he certainly didn't play with him.

Hard to respect a guy that literally turns around and quits in front of a home crowd so dramatically after doing nothing the whole fight. His post fight remarks pissed me off even more, to even suggest that that fight was an even contest at any point is insulting to Arguello and to the audience's intelligence

It must have been frustrating for Bubba, he hit Alexis with his best lefts in rounds 4 and 6 and Arguello didn’t flinch. I have to give it to the guy, he was game but out classed. It looked to me that Alexis didn’t respect his power beginning round one. Alexis started setting down on his punches in round 5 and then it was just a matter of time. Good stoppage, Bubba didn’t know we here he was. The great champion, Arguello, RIP.
