Yes, because when you have a principal that oversteps her authority and threatens to expel someone because they have a radio show she doesn't like for one reason or another, and in an escalation of her power trip she threatens to punish the entire school over a single student's actions OUTSIDE of school, then of course the reasonable reaction kids would have is TURN AGAINST THE RADIO BROADCASTER THEY ALL LOVE... Because how dare she not want to get expelled, and how dare she somehow make the principal make some ridiculous decision like that, right? This is why I have such a hard time watching Disney movies, the extreme full good or full evil caricatures without and gray area just get on my nerves as much as how dumb the majority of the characters in said movies are.

Anyone else distracted by the fact that Stacey faced zero consequences from the school for locking Terra in a closet specifically so that she would fail an assignment? In my school, where you could get expelled for “fighting” because someone else beat you up, that would warrant at least an investigation and a few weeks’ suspension. Pretty Boy himself said that a member of the staff is a witness. Was this just an effort to make the principal more cartoonishly evil?

Something I find hilarious is how they portray radio in this movie. A big misconception is that everything is live, but fun fact most broadcasts between songs are prerecorded maybe 20-30 minutes ahead of time, along with weather, news and any phone calls to people (but the phone calls have to be for legal reasons). So many other things but still a good movie, love it ahah

I remember this movie. The sparticus ripoff scene at the end stick in my mind the most, my teen mind rationalised it as the fact that the principal could still expel MC but then people would say that everyone at that dance said that they were radio rebel so why expel this one specific person. Now I realise that it was kind of a botched reference.

You know, I'm one of those people who didn't quite watch Disney Channel/Nickolodeon movies back in the day but I enjoy your commentaries so much that I "watch" them through you. I've got to say this one -and it might sound weird- seems like a movie actually made for kids in their early teens and it's so... refreshing to watch? I actually liked it? Ok, I never watched this movie but once I got to "biggest radio station in Seattle..." as someone who is a Washington native, and lives close enough to the Seattle area, why must everything Washington related in movies be flannel, radio, and/or rain? We are SOOO much more than that! Screw you Twilight!... oh sorry, wrong movie. Anyways, just had to roll my eyes at the flannel and radio references as it relates to Seattle...

The movie was co-production between Disney Channel in deal with Corus Entertainment in Canada for YTV, which also included the rights to air Disney's live-action sitcoms until Corus lost the rights in 2015 and they picked by WildBrain and moved to Family Channel. The film premiered in the US in March 2012 and June of the same year in Canada. So it still counts as Disney Channel movie, its just a co-production. The film is owned by Disney.
