Scrubs is a good example where every season is like a year or Buffy, where they start in high-school and continues through college and even a year or two after, so that they can show growth and learning (or "character development"). Then again I have never watched a second of this show other than here, soo.., I don't acctually "know" how bad they fumble the passage of time in this particular case.

She was a different person at the beginning of the show. At the very very beginning of the pilot, before I realized that Archie is a total f**kboy, it looked like it could make since. But now it definitely doesn't. Archie wants what he can't have. He only was interested in Betty after she started dating Jughead and than he only wanted Veronica back after finding out that she was married. Once Betty gets back with Jughead it will be the same thing all over again. Betty and Veronica deserve way better than that.
