Hello! Congrats on your baby boy! We have four rescue cats and here is my best advice: - A few tall scratching posts around the house - this will teach him to scratch these instead of furniture etc. Our cats love them. Ikea also sells this table leg covers that velcro on and cats can scratch them. - A water fountain to ensure he drinks fresh water sufficiently. - My fave cat litter is Dr. Elsey's. If you want to wait on a litter robot, get a stainless steel litter box in the meantime to cut down on potential odor.

For kitties - lost of enrichment! We try to keep blinds up and curtains open during the day so they can get up in the windowsill and watch outside. Cat trees that allow him to perch. He wants to see what you are doing and be involved.

You could try a sensor air spray or a simple layer of aluminum foil on surfaces you don't want him jumping on. That way you will keep your trust bond with him.
