It looks like Alex was having trouble with a decision, so I thought I would help him out. Go with the K900. Having just sold my Volvo and bought a K900 I'll give you 3 reasons that he didn't mention (or I didn't hear him mention) that puts the K900 over the top: 1. Adaptive Cruise Control down to 0 mph and Turn Signal cameras. - These 2 features alone are worth the price of entry. The cruise control is amazing on a car at this price point and there is video screen in the Gauge cluster when you use your turn signals that makes blind spots a thing of the past 2. It uses 87 Pump gas - Yes you heard that right. A Twin Turbo Luxury car that gets buy on 87 without a problem. Another tick on the Value button with the 100K warranty and cheap repair parts (compared to other luxury brands) 3. RIDICULOUS DEALS - Not only is the car super rare, but dealers were FORCED to take one when they came out. As Alex pointed out, Kia shoppers aren't looking to spend $60k+, so they sit on the lots forever. I got mine at almost $20K off the sticker!! and a quick search on Cars.com will find you a few scattered around the US with minimum of $10k off MSRP. At $60K it is a good deal, at $50K its an incredible deal.. at $44k, it is a NO-BRAINER. You can't touch a base C-Class Mercedes for that price. In summary, I have owned many luxury brands (Got a Beamer and AMG as well) and the K900 handles and drives just as well, is super comfortable, feature rich and outstanding quality. If you are shopping for a luxury sedan (few are) and you won't even consider a Kia, it's not the car's fault; It's your for falling for brand cache and marketing BS.

I'll probably be getting a new K900. No I'm not joking, and no, I'm not old. I love the idea of owning a big cruiser, but the current ones are either ridiculously expensive (S, 7, A8, etc) or when better priced are kinda lackluster in various ways (CT6 interior materials, Continental and S90 FWD-based, RLX is old and kinda lame). I'd be lying if I said the counter culture aspect wasn't appealing to me, but the K900 just looks like a far better offering than the aforementioned at its price. In terms of bang for buck, you really can't beat this thing. Throw in that monster warranty and I can't see how anyone could go wrong.

I own a 2014 Kia Cadenza. I love the vehicle and have had zero problems with it. The build quality is superb. I honestly can’t figure out why Kia can’t seem to sell them. I have never owned a vehicle that gets as many compliments on its looks as it does. Consumers just don’t seem interested in even considering the higher end Kia models like the Cadenza and K900.

It's like Hyundai, everyone driving a base model CLA, 3 series or C class talks about how cheap they are because they knew someone with an Accent once, but then they ask me if my Genesis is a Bentley and are shocked how much nicer and more luxurious that car is. Or think I paid several times more than what I actually did for it. Most people's perception is "Hyundai / Kia" = the brand's lowest end models, but Mercedes = Luxury because they know about the fully loaded S Class. Meanwhile, 95% of people drive cheapo base CLA/C class cars with no features and pay extra for basic things like Apple car play/Android Auto which comes standard in many cheap cars. You can look at it as the brand image needing to improve or people's perception needing to improve so they stop wasting more money for a lesser product. In the mean time, everyone driving around in the Stinger/Cadenza/K900 or G70/G80/G90 can enjoy getting compliments everywhere they go and actually having a great car.

Coming from an owner of older Audi, BMW, Volvo, and even Maserati vehicles of generations past, the K900 is absolutely no joke. I do wish our markets could look past the badge and understand what a tremendous value is being offered to them here. Although I will hang onto my current cars for a while longer, when the time comes for me to add another vehicle to the fleet, I will absolutely cross-shop the K900 with other, more well-established makers. The last generation was a phenomenal vehicle, the original Asian-market model was superb, and this is just as wonderful. Great review!

I leased a V8 KIA K900 on a whim back in December of 2015 given a very attractive lease. I drove the 2015 K900 for the last 3 years and must say it was one the best cars I have ever driven. The car provides a level of luxury, size and options you will not get without jumping into the 7 series BMW or S series Mercedes. The car was equipped with all the comforts, performance (ride would probably be too soft for some) and technology that far surpassed any other car. I originally had a 2-year lease in order to check it out and had to extend it for 2 (6) month terms because KIA stopped making them for 2 years. KIA made me a believer and I was planning to lease a new one once it came out in 2019 but unfortunately the leasing incentives were not attractive and therefore caused me to look at the other luxury brands. The other cool part about the car was that there were so few on the road which no doubt made it unique. Good luck to KIA.

I purchased a V8 K900 VIP last year after owning two M class BMWs, four 5 series & a couple of S class Mercedes and I have never looked back. The maintenance on these German cars made my mind up because they were not worth keeping after the warranty's expire. This was an excellent video, but I want to make one point, my car has the panoramic roof, V8 and soft-close doors and reminds me more of the S class & 7 series I owned (in terms of features). It definitely has more room than the E or 5 series I previously owned. But, you have to get past the name Kia and if you do, you will be pleasantly surprised. Way I see it with regard to German luxury sedans, "been there done that and this cars gives up nothing...just puts more money in my pocket."

Alex, One of the things I really like about your reviews is that you include one metric it seems everyone else forgets about "CABIN NOISE". My three hot buttons for a vehicle are 1.) Safety 2.) Handling 3.) Quiet and I would add value as my 4th choice. I tend to stay with a car that is more on the Value Luxury scale with three Hyundai Genesis in my past and now driving a Cadillac CT6 . I chose the CT6 for its quiet and handling. If you value Cabin Noise yourself I don't know how you could choose the Volvo S90 over the Kia. I test drove the Volvo and would have bought it but for the cabin noise. I would love to know what the quietest car you've driven is. This was a great review and I have added you to my Subscription list based on it, so thank you.

@stephenhendricks1036 жыл бұрын
I try diligently to avoid being a fan boy of any automotive brand. But KIA is making it more and more difficult. Purchased our second Sorento earlier this year to replace a 2012 model. Seriously considered the Stinger as a personal daily driver but ultimately decided I preferred a smaller car so I went with a GTI. Nevertheless, the Stinger is a great example of a true GT at a price that makes the European competition look seriously overpriced. I see KIA Souls all over the place driven by everyone from college students to retirees. My local KIA dealer could probably install a vending machine to sell them. The 2019 KIA Forte won't outsell the Corolla or the Civic sedans but it probably should given its standard features and appealing looks. And for first time purchasers it's likely to give KIA a leg up holding onto those customers when the move up the food chain for subsequent purchases. Add to all of that KIA's forthcoming "premium" Crossover, the Telluride, that looks to be another winner. Acura, Lexus, and Infiniti be warned. And when KIA introduces new generations of the Optima and Cadenza Honda and Toyota and even BMW and Audi should watch their backs. I notice fewer and fewer comments these days about questionable quality and reliability of KIA vehicles. Not surprising given Kia's rising ratings on indices like Consumer Reports customer surveys. Toyota still sits atop those ratings but KIA has rapidly closed the gap. And the reports of friends of friends who had bad experiences with KIA's are more and more outnumbered by positive testimonials from owners. There is still a widespread perception that the frequent discounts off MSRP for a KIA are outweighed by resale value. But even that is changing. When I traded my 2012 Sorento for a 2018 version earlier this year, the dealer gave me a trade-in value of within $800 of the KBB estimated trade-in value of a comparably equipped, similar mileage Toyota Highlander. Considering that I had gotten a $7000 discount off MSRP on the 2012 Sorento, and a $8000 discount on the 2018 model, and that the out the door price was more than $8000 less than the Toyota offered on a 2018 HIghlander, I came out way ahead on both ends of the deals. As Alex says, Kia isn't going to sell a boatload of K900's. But I suspect that their sales in Asia will probably consume their production capacity. And like the Stinger, it may draw customers into Kia showrooms just to see it while they end up purchasing a less expensive model. As for its intended market segment I have to wonder how the country club set can justify $20K or more for a comparable vehicle. Looking prosperous to one's peers may be important but if it also means looking like a sucker, I have to wonder.
@conspickerous6 жыл бұрын
Stephen Hendricks Congrats on your 18 Sorento. I have the 17 MY and I like it more than my previous vehicle, the 15 Ford Edge. Both are on the top trims but I feel like the Sorento is much more worth it than the Edge. The materials, fit and finish of the Sorento is miles ahead than the Edge. The only thing that I’m missing from the Edge is the built-in remote starter with adjustable climate control/heated steering wheel/seats settings. It’s unfortunate that Kia Canada just introduced their UVO connected system in their 2019 cars.

If the badge does not bother you like me, then this is for you. As a matter of fact I just leased the 2019 k900 VIP model 2 days ago and I was so overwhelmed with its performance and just like what Alex said, it is very very quite inside the cabin. It has a power of a Stinger since they share the same 3.3 Twin-turbo engine. The interior is out of this world. It is really luxuriously beautiful. I think I am going to purchase this K900 at the end of the lease. It is the most comfortable car I've ever driven. With its 10 yrs power train and 5 years bumper to bumper warranty, I couldn't ask for anything more. I used to own a Genesis G80 and Stinger GT1 and to me this K900 is the best car I've ever had. I took that same leap of faith 10 years ago when I sold a BMW 3-series for a Hyundai Genesis, which proved to be a vastly superior vehicle anyway. I still drive that Genesis 260,000 miles later and I have no plans to part ways with it anytime soon - I could probably get up to 400K or 500K easily. And the K900 is the same idea from the same company and even with the same basic platform. If I needed to run a livery service or I were a real estate agent then this car would make a ton of sense. For personal use, however, it's not my cup of tea, it's too big; for the price I'd go back to Genesis and get G80, but my personal tastes would take me to something smaller and cheaper, like the Stinger and the G70. Or a more mainstream vehicle like the Hyundai Kona or Kia Niro. I used to be a big fan of German automobiles - I still also have a 2010 Mercedes E550 in the garage. And there is no denying that Germany is a much more modern/progressive society than South Korea especially when it comes to opportunities for women and the disadvantaged. But German cars are vastly overrated these days and I'd gladly drive a Korean competitor any day. Japanese luxury models are turn-offs too these days. Domestics are hit or miss.

Surprising. I love the current K900 EXCEPT for the exterior which has probably never gotten a second glace or had anyone go "Oh yes, this looks like a luxury car with reclining back seats." It looked so plain and boring while this looks closer to a Bentley. Looks are always debatable but I don't think anyone would look at the new K900 and think it costs as little as a C class with options. Alex, I agree that both the K900 and the Volvo S90 are relative bargains in this market segment. One thing that really irks me about the S90 and all other Volvo's is the lack of a power tilt and telescope steering wheel. I own an Optima and would buy a K900, Stinger or Niro EV if I was in the market for my next car. I don't care about brand names, badges or so called prestige. I care about value and good products. In that respect Kia delivers. Also I don't fall for the hype and price gouging of German cars.

I remember walking to work in downtown Chicago back in 2000 , Volkswagen was out there promoting the phaeton , they asked me if I was willing to test drive it , I said sure , looks nice .. ran great , that W12 cylinder really kicked , then a I asked the price , he said $105,000 ! . My only question was " why not make it an Audi instead ?" .. no one is gonna pay that much for a Volkswagen ..he just looked at me and didn't know what to say .. lol

I think it just comes down to how you want to spend or waste your money. It really comes down to being aware of things and not being a brand minded person.

After what Genesis and Kia did recent years the Luxury brand name is not a big issue. There are long history car brands but they produce junk and unreliable cars.

I recently bought a used 2013 Kia Optima SXL, this thing is awesome. I watched the video about the 2020 K900 and my wife loves it, fully loaded for 65k, what? That includes AWD. We are probably going to buy one in within the next year.

Currently on my 3rd Asian car- 97 Hyundai Elantra, 2003 Kia Spectra and now 2011 Hyundai Sonata. I’ve seen their quality get better over the years. Now working my way up to a 2018 Kia Stinger. My only problem is that I prefer paying cash than financing but I probably might have to if I want a Stinger next year. Fingers crossed. Lol
@2004cyrus6 жыл бұрын
Isaac Kamau you should make your cash work for you and lease the stinger!! It would be a relatively reasonable payment for 36 months, then you turn it in and get another Kia. You don’t have to worry about depreciation. The only con would be if you drive a really high amount of miles but you can even factor higher mileage into the lease payment. I lease my vehicles and won’t ever “buy another one.”

Own a 2015 K900 with VIP Pkg. One of the best vehicles I've owned. Beats the Audi A7 and almost as good as the 2014 S550. Aside from not having massage seats, it has everything else and does it well. Soft close doors too. The AWD the 2019 offers plus tweaked interior and exterior makes me want to buy it. I've only seen one other since I've owned the 2015. Removed the standard Kia logos and replaced with the stylized K symbol used elsewhere and most people can't figure out what it is aside from a great looking vehicle.

Its hard for KIA to be able to sell any because people aren't willing to admit that KIA is about to plow through the competition within the next few years and take their place as a serious competitors. They haven't had the best near decades but I have the 2019 Forte and I'll tell you what, that car blew me away. Great products! I may trade in my forte for the K900.

This looks like incredible value for money, even new for that price but my question Alex-This or the G90 3.3t AWD? Used, in 3 years.
@Wasabi91116 жыл бұрын
ChaoticCorruptor it’s crazy how this car is so cheap - it’s basically the cost of a fully loaded 3-series or c-class. However, bmw and mb generally have really good lease deals. For comparison, the Genesis G90 has really horrible lease deals. If Kia offers great lease deals, I’ll definitely take this as my next lease replacement. If not, I’ll probably buy used in 3 yrs. I love big quiet cars, but they’re usually out of my budget or have horrible reliability used. This would be the exception.
@MrNemo7216 жыл бұрын
Agree on the lease deals, BMW's especial are hard to beat. But I do not lease, I typically buy 3 to 5 year old CPO luxury cars. I did read recently that the 5 series and E Class have the highest 5 year depreciation www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2018/10/top-10-cars-with-the-highest-five-year-depreciation.html But I am not sure with higher depreciation expected on Kia/Genesis if I can get the same level of equipment or reliability vs. a 540i/E400. So the scales do tip in favor of Korean luxury in that case.

Kia and hyundai gives the buyer more mental peace just like Toyota and Honda......if they are getting high sales numbers all over it means they have improved and above all evreryday drivers would only consider basics in mind like reliable engine and powertrain along with basic comfort and warranty

I think it's important to also note that, in regards to resale value and owning, it's a good deal for someone looking for a used luxury car. You can find one of these that are a year or two old with low miles for far less than you would a German luxury car.
@danield.73596 жыл бұрын
No luxury brand name tag perhaps. But true premium quality, high reliability and sleek luxury design at a competitive price. That's a delivered, not just self claimed premium experience. Benz? Bimmer? Audi? Jag?

I'm going to wait 3 more years until one of these come back from a lease and nab one for half the price. =) For the folks who buy new, I do hope that the Kia dealers stock some Stingers as loaners when this car goes into the dealership for a service because it'd be just bad to give these K900 owners a Forte as a loaner.
@pkoya3415 жыл бұрын
Lol If they give loaners at all. Never got a loaner for my fully loaded Optima SXL even though that costs more as much as a Mid-loaded Stinger. I really hope they give K900 owners a loaner. Waiting in a KIA dealership with people who are getting brakes done on their Rio is not something a $65,000 car should come with. Still a great car, and after 3 years, for about 30k I'd buy this over a new Accord as a perfect family car

Get the K900. Kia should win the world's biggest gold star for 'most improved,' and should be rewarded for their efforts at moving the industry along. Look at their Australian warranties! (I'm in Canada). They're amazing these days and are rocking the boat -- a good thing. Still, that Volvo sure is nice. Maybe the pragmatic thing to do would be to compare long-term costs then weight against styling.

I’m kinda jazzed on this car. I actually like the fact it isn’t a luxury brand. We will see if my dealer ever gets any in to see in person.
@N0rdman6 жыл бұрын
It is a fact that most people can't help than being partial to the underdogs, look how many movies there are on that theme! That said, Kia isn't a small car manufacturer today, although mostly know for less costly, I don't like to use the word "cheap" as that often denotes something of less quality, the fact is that while I didn't have much love for Kia or Hyundai, it's close cousin, 20 years ago they are undeniably very reliable cars. A reliability is extremely important for me as a car consumer. Why? Well, many friends of mine has spent a premium on a more upmarket or even luxury brand, mostly German, and these cars have proven to be huge money pits! They claim while they "have had some problems were very good cars, and their mechanics have been very helpful". But hey! Of course they are happy to help you spend your hard earned money when you come back to repair your car! While I have just being filling the car with gas and washing it once and a while... The other reason is I love the low key almost stealthy nature of Kia and Hyndai luxury cars. I used to drive a Kia Opirus/Amanti as it was the most silent car I have ever ridden or driven and was comfortable as any full size sedan. Every time you said you could pick up a friend and often in the dark they jumped into the car and was simply stunned and amazed by the comfort, plush leather and wast leg space, just blowing them away every time brought quite some joy. If I could get one of these K900 in Europe; I definitely would!

Luxury Brand does not equal reliability anymore' guarantee this Kia will outlast a Merc or BMW in build and overall quality in the next 10yrs, hat's off again to Kia/Hyundai on delivering Luxury Reliable with attainable prices.
@Wasabi91116 жыл бұрын
king xj how’s the long term reliability of Hyundai/Kia? Are they as good as Toyota/Lexus? Consumer reports only give Hyundai/Kia average scores, but other surveys rank them much higher/top of class. I’m tired of leasing - so many considering the K900 as a long term car.
@Wasabi91116 жыл бұрын
japanwatchconnection I think mechanically they’re very reliable. However I agree w you that externally Hyundai / Kia don’t age well. Even the models that I thought looked great when they originally launched look dated in a couple of years. I’m not sure if it’s the exterior design or poor paint quality, etc. I could never figure why. Otherwise I think they make fantastic cars.

I have a 2007 Hyundai Azera (father of the Genesis) that I bought 3 years ago with 116k on it. It's been stellar, and now at 150K and roaring. I love the power, smooth ride, 13 speaker Infiniti system, and styling. My daughter has a 2012 Soul that her mother bought new. It now had 170k on it, never a major issue. We are utterly sold on Kia and Hyundai.
