Man, I do not comment often, but this is absolute gold! There is so much in this video! The move is sick, but the fact that you explain not only how to do it, but also how to use it is so useful. And the bigger picture at the end is the icing on the cake. I started magic last year while in my late thirties, I feel I have so much to learn and wish I had started earlier, and all your videos are so helpful. I am so grateful for all the content you put out there, so an enormous thank you!

Awesome tutorial! One thing that helped me as a very beginner: focus on the middle and ring finger while practising to pull down with the pinky...in my case these two fingers always wanted to be a part of the movement and really concentrating on them to stay away from the deck helped me Maybe I was able to help some of you, maybe not :D
@brandonhallmagic6162
@brandonhallmagic6162 3 жыл бұрын
The one thing he’s not telling you is just how long this takes to master. No kidding. First you have to find just the right placement of the deck. It’s not exactly as he says. Second, it takes a while to get the hang of it. It takes much longer to be consistent enough to try it for specs. It takes even longer than that to catch it every time. BUT, it IS worth it. Once you see it shoot out of your own hands, like real magic, you’ll understand. Thanks for the tutorial.

Well ok three cheers for those of us with bitch hand syndrome as I like to call it. I’ve asked several people about this issue and the same answer I keep getting is small hands are no excuse you just need to practice more. I don’t know how true that is, I still struggle with certain moves due to the size of my bitch hands but others moves have come in time with a lot of practice. Keep trying guys, I’m going to keep trying myself and see how it goes. Good luck to you

woah… I went from “this is impossible” and giving up after 5 minutes to coming back about a week later and watching again and messing around and within 10 minute I was spitting cards out and I just got one to actually fly off straight haha I’m not saying I can consistently do it like Big Al Pan himself but its enough to get me excited to keep practicing. Basically to learn something I have to be able to get a glimpse of progress and then I am absolutely hooked. so if you are like me just keep doing it, get the form and then try to flick the card out. I may have a little advantage because I practiced the back palm vanish compulsively for like a year and built up some weird strength in my hand I never had before. but this is absolutely possible and if you can’t do it you will be surprised how quickly you can build up strength in your hand. Last tip: try it with a half deck you might have a little more strength and control with a smaller stack
@mrtlaskowski
@mrtlaskowski 4 жыл бұрын
When I hold the deck in the suggested grip, the card doesn't clear my index finger holding the top right corner of the deck? So far, I have to move that finger so low on the side of the deck that I lose control and many times shoot out multiple cards or the deck just explodes from the middle out. I can pull the card out with my little finger every time but when I go to shoot it, it pretty much always gets stuck on my index finger? I'm probably missing something really obvious but would appreciate suggestions from anyone who has had this same issue. But . . . . best video I've ever seen on this technique. In fact, pretty much everything I get here is the best of all versions I've seen. so, thanks for helping an absolute beginner move up the ladder quickly.

Hope my English is not so bad (never using goolgle) Thx a lot. Regards; Jean-Marc

@JonasEngstedt 2 жыл бұрын
One thing I found out whilst practicing this, which is briefly mentioned in the video but I didn't really catchup on it. The "throw" itself is coming from the release of pressure from your thumb, not the pinky, the pinky is only there to kind of pull it out. I was practicing it the wrong way at firs trying to push the card down really hard with the pinky, but there's actually not a lot of force required from the pinky itself.

Apparently what really helps is if you've played guitar for 25 years. Finger strength is apparently more important than technique.

I know it's a relatively simple flair, but, the single card reveal flair done at around 1:40 has been giving my a bit of a head scratch (it's not the subject of the video, just done quickly in passing). I kind of have the grip figured out, but on the thumb flick I end up tossing out multiple. Any chance a quick tutorial video for it exists from the othe rperspective?

What the hell, man. I have been practicing this move for half a year, with not much success. Everytime I tried to shoot out a card the whole deck seems to want to shoot out of my hand too. And the shooting happens inconsistently. Then I watched this video and noticed how he emphasized on having full firm contacts with the four corners of the deck and realized that I only had firm contacts with 3 corners - so instead of having the fourth corner (which is in the base of the thumb) floating in the air I decided to pressed it against the palm just like how he has it in the video, and viola...the shots become much more consistent and snappy, and natural too.

this is my favourite shit about card magic, the effect is no where near as impressive as the technique involved. It's like teller's lighting a cigarette act, being so smooth even when you know what's happening you still can't see, that is fucking magic right there, even when you know it's still magic.

By far the hardest way of shooting cards I’ve ever seen You need massive hands The camera angle needs to be on your chest looking down at cards not looking in as everything is backwards to the viewer making it difficult to work out how to hold the cards Sorry but this is absolutely dreadful and by no means easy 👎🏿
