the atem extreme 4k will be the game changer i am waiting for. love small form factor.
@AlexPettitt Жыл бұрын
I 100% think we're all waiting for that one. My only worry is, with the technology that around right now, is it actually even possible to get 4K ISO recording in something of that tiny form factor. I worry about overheating. I think we're probably a few years away until the technology is there to safely make it happen :)

I support the suggestion on the More of AUX Output as it is very important for live studio, I am using ATEM 4M/E which include 6 AUX
@AlexPettitt Жыл бұрын
Same here :) Still using a 4M/E in one of my old studios and those AUXs are invaluable. Honestly I think a 16 input TVS with 16 Aux Outputs would fly off the shelves for BM :)

I wish BMD would allow us to press the Start Recording button again while record is already running so it would automatically start recording to new files with a frame accurate transition.

Ohh this is a nice idea! I swear there is a way to do it already with two SDD drives plugged in (so you can swap between the two). But I really like your idea for being able to split up a recording without loosing any frames :)

I’ve tried the bridge here in Australia and ran into two big hurdles that made it unusable in practical remote applications: 1- The Atem needs a static IP address, this can be very tricky to obtain especially when operating remotely without paying for special services. Certainly cant be done with a ordinary 5G modem alone. 2 - When trying the stream with the BM G2 broadcast camera, the bitrate was too high to be sustainable with the 4-5G mobile connections. Yes our internet isn’t great compared to other places in the world.

What would be great is if they made the 8 SDI Program outputs as bi-directional, so I can choose how I wish to use them.. As there are 10 input select buttons on the panel, and then using shift, you can access the "back page" to select another 10 sources, it would open this switcher wide open... Just a thought!
@AlexPettitt Жыл бұрын
Ohhh I'd never thought to use them as bi-directional ports... thats a fantastic idea. More inputs when you don't need as many outputs!
@VoxTone2009 Жыл бұрын
I think the SDI Extreme falls very short because of lack of XLR inputs for sound. Otherwise it would be a good alternative, but that is a dealbreaker for lots of us doing live shows.
@CourtWatchAu Жыл бұрын
What about an audio Mixer (for XLR inputs) and a laptop and a streamdeck And an ATEM Extreme ? it would be cheaper and more compact and versatile than the expensive ATEM Television Studio HD8 imo
@VoxTone2009 Жыл бұрын
@@CourtWatchAu for me using a laptop, and I used one before, always had at some point some failures, a dedicated hardware has always been more reliable to me. I have an audio mixer already. the outputs are XLR on the pro equipment. The sound going out to the main stage system, monitors and the live stream or video is quite differently mixed, so you need a mixer that can handle all that. The semi pro or pro mixers have that feature. btw, the other nice feature on a video mixer is a way to control the PTZ cameras, if you have them. You can get a separate remote unit for that but more equipment you need surface space for. The roland units are pretty nice for that but expensive.

And, the TVS's ISO model STILL does not support SS in DaVinci Resolve post editing, we bought this behemoth a few weeks back as an upgrade to our in house video....... I can't believe that BMD has still not worked this out in this expensive a device... There are loads of requests for this as a feature update since as early as 2020 and nothing has been done about this..... I am loosing faith in them and this is VERY disappointing at this time that they are still ghosting our requests for this option!

I’ve been using the Extreme HDMI ISO for few years now and I’m very happy with it. I didn’t add any other BMD devices for playing video etc, mostly I’m using a computer to do that and stills for gfx because I’m a one man show most of the time. But I’m also a multimedia manager and a teacher and I do a lot of training for streaming etc. I read something that this new HD8 can play short videos. Can you clarify on that? Thanks!

I hope you can help me with this... I have a BMPPC 6K G2 and an Atem Mini Extreme Pro (HDMI), the issue occurs when I connect the camera to the atem, the settings on the camera changes (screen blinks) and cannot longer use the 16:9 ratio it seems blocked as well the ProRes codec, only remains some ratios with the BRAW codecs, but none are 16:9 ratios so always get black stripes on the PGM in the Atem mini. Note: This isn't happen with my BMPPC 4K. All firmwares are updated BTW. The only way that I found so far to fix it, is using an external monitor with I/O HDMI, connecting the camera to the monitor; with that the camera doesn't change codecs and I can use the 16:9 ratio and the monitor to the Atem. BUT, obviously I lost control over the camera like color correction and tally light, and I need those. Other way is converting the HDMI signal thought the BM Bidirectional converter HDMI to SDI and again SDI to HDMI. It works, the 16:9 ratio remains but losing again control over the camera. Surfing the web I found that connecting a second SDI cable to return the "control" and works, BUT in that second the cameras blink and change the codec and I ends right where I start, losing the 16:9. So, do you had any idea of what is going on here? You are my only hope Obi-wan, neither in BlackMagic support are catching my consult and always respond something else.
@AlexPettitt9 ай бұрын
Try setting your camera's recording mode to Ultra HD (4K) or 1920x1080, both these should not have black bars. When you use a Blackmagic Camera with an ATEM the two way connection puts it into a special 'live' mode which allows the ATEM to control the camera and disabled some of the cameras features (IE the ability to record in ProRes). Hope this helps Alex

Damn, both of these Switchers are amazing, I'd really like to get my hands on the ATEM TVS HD8 ISO. Great video Alex! I was so fortunate to get the ATEM Extreme Iso on sale for £600 (sale only lasted 48 hours) and it is the Ideal switcher for my current set up. I need to be on the go, so can't exactly have a big switcher with me, all my gear is HDMI based (I use Fiber HDMI to avoid converters as best as I can), and I only ever use 5 cameras max (so that leaves me 2 inputs for graphics and 1 for a PC input). Ideally I would like some XLR inputs as the 3.5mm ones can be very noisy, and I wouldn't deem them "Professional". Ironically I don't use the in built streaming encoder of the ATEM, as I'd rather have a "Hyperdeck High" ISO recording to work with than a lower res streaming recording, so I use a URayTech HEVC Encoder to do all the streaming work. I have a "Pelican type" case build for my ATEM which includes; A Raspberry Pi 4 for Companion & ATEM software control (which my Stream deck plugs into), an 8 port POE switch for networking everything together (and powering PTZ cameras), the URayTech Encoder (which gets a split of the program), 4 HDMI splitters with scalers (2 for the Multiview & Program, and 2 for some of the inputs), a BENQ 21.5 inch monitor mounted into the lid which gets a split of the Multiview and a feed from the Raspberry Pi, the ATEM Extreme Iso, a 6 socket surge protected power extension lead, and dual USB powered Fans to keep the whole case cool. On the outside of the case I used Keystone Wallplates (the kind you'd install on your wall), which has; 8 HDMI inputs, 5 HDMI outputs, 3 USB inputs, 1 Ethernet inputs, 4 Ethernet outputs, 3 powered USB outputs (for changing devices, or powering portable monitors), 2 3.5mm TRS inputs, 1 1/4 inch headphone output and 1 powercon locking connector input. Would I prefer to use SDI? Yes absolutely, but its completely out of my budget, and I'm lucky I was even able to get my hands on the ATEM Extreme Iso to begin with.
