People think rb’s aren’t valuable because “they need great run blocking”, when nobody on the field has the ability to see holes, and avoid 300 lb monsters running straight at you. Saquon was breaking tackles in the backfield and picking up long gains in Ny.
@TheMelnTeam2 күн бұрын
A big part of the problem is also their short time being valuable. For every guy like Adrian Peterson or Saquon Barkley, you have what, 10 or more players who are very good for a few years? Most of the time, a good RB going to a new team after a few great years becomes a burden on cap, rather than a benefit. Cap space is tight, so teams chase the RB who pushes for the rushing title for a season or two and flames out, and are happy if they get more.
@Rock_em.sock_em2 күн бұрын
The issue isn’t that RBs aren’t valuable; the issue is they don’t add much value to BAD teams. Saquon on the NYG adds maybe 1 or 2 wins at most, but on the Eagles he’s worth more than that. Same with Henry on the Titans vs the Ravens. Or even Jacobs on the Packers vs the Raiders. Top notch RBs rarely raise the floor or ceiling for a bad team, but they do so much for the floor and ceiling of a good team.
@nicolasbernardini34132 күн бұрын
Yeah bro I dont think you understand the issue

For some reason some teams would rather pay 20M for mediocre WRs who get 700yds instead of 10M for top RBs who get 1200+ yds. Makes no sense

Even if the Eagles can play a variety of ways with Saquon spearheading the run game, the way they win on offense is a little different among other top offense teams in this modern NFL. You have very explosive offenses like the Bills, Ravens or even the Bengals that can put up points on quick notice and force the defense to quickly adapt. If the Eagles want to sit on a lead by the second half, their offense can go on very lengthy scoring drives thanks to their threat to run the ball. The other offenses can win with fire works but the Eagles just put their opponents in a quicksand game.

Ravens have Derrick and Lamar, they can definitely shut out a game on the ground
@t4d0WКүн бұрын
@@Zahrul3 Have you seen the Eagles/Steelers game in the 2nd half? Eagles ate up so much clock on 3 scoring drives that they only gave the Steelers 2 possessions. I'm quickly checking the Ravens games in 2024 and they never had a second half game like that against opponents.

*Hot take:* Even if the Eagles can’t get the 1 seed this year, they can still reach the Super Bowl.
@TheMelnTeam2 күн бұрын
Lions, Eagles, Vikings, Packers all have a reasonable chance, as they're all very solid teams with > +100 point differential. Maybe the Commanders as well. I don't think the Rams or whatever wins the NFC South are likely to win 3 games against that field. The top 4 are all good enough that one team having a good day or the other a bad day can easily swing who wins. So yes, any of them could reach or even win the superbowl. The only knock I have on Lions is that so much of their defensive roster is shredded by injuries. When they were healthy earlier in the season, they had a ridiculous point differential and were crushing teams. I don't know what their prospects are in terms of getting people back from injury in time for playoffs. It is very unlikely that Eagles can get 1st seed. While they have tiebreaker over Packers, both the Lions and the Vikings have tiebreaker over Eagles (better conference record). They need the Vikings to lose this week against the backers, and for the Lions to lose to 49ers and Vikings just to create a tiebreaker scenario. Otherwise one of Lions/Vikings will have a better record outright or just a better conference record and win tiebreaker. Last I checked, odds on that were being given as < 5%. Of course, Eagles themselves have to avoid losing while starting Pickett. If Lions beat 49ers (which is more likely than not), they might as well rest their starters a bit in final weeks, as it locks them as #2 seed.

The last few weeks they been running a run ,run option. 3 o- lineman block one way and two pull the other way and depending on the defense either Hurts or Barkley run the Ball. The o line is one of the few that everyone has the ability to pull . They are not only one of the biggest and strongest lines in the NFL but also one of the most versatile lines in football. Pair that with amazing WRs and TEs and a elite defense they should be favorites to win it all this season
