Informative and thorough, your work deserves more attention. When I did this job on a 2011 Cruze, I didn't take the cat out. It was enough just to remove the bolt on the bracket holding it to the engine, that allowed enough wiggle to pop it off the downpipe. I like how you kept the budget down by only replacing the parts that were broken. If your fixing your car on a budget or just getting in to doing your own auto work, keep in mind that OEM parts are expensive and not always necessary. Sometimes, they're not even the best quality option. Most of the time, a third party option from Korea or China will do the job just fine. This does not apply to the cheapest knockoff of the most complicated engine parts, but generally: if it's on Rock Auto or being sold at NAPA, it will be good enough to last until you upgrade your ride. I've ran multiple third-party water pumps, belts, coils, and even engine bearings for 5+ years, until I have sold the car. But use this guy to tell you how to install it.
