ABSOLUTELY AWESOME VIDEO !! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH !! I'm 70 years old and can't afford paying big money to a garage. I'm a retired Jet engine mechanic but certainly don't know it all. I truly believe this is the BEST video on "the tube" for this job. Thank You soooo much !! You have a GREAT attitude and would be an EXCELLENT teacher in my opinion. Something you may want to think about down the road !! (as we get older our bones don't move like they used to ....TRUST ME !! LOL !!) Really enjoyed your video and will CERTAINLY come visit you again the next time I'm in trouble !! Have a GREAT DAY and thank you once again !!

Informative and thorough, your work deserves more attention. When I did this job on a 2011 Cruze, I didn't take the cat out. It was enough just to remove the bolt on the bracket holding it to the engine, that allowed enough wiggle to pop it off the downpipe. I like how you kept the budget down by only replacing the parts that were broken. If your fixing your car on a budget or just getting in to doing your own auto work, keep in mind that OEM parts are expensive and not always necessary. Sometimes, they're not even the best quality option. Most of the time, a third party option from Korea or China will do the job just fine. This does not apply to the cheapest knockoff of the most complicated engine parts, but generally: if it's on Rock Auto or being sold at NAPA, it will be good enough to last until you upgrade your ride. I've ran multiple third-party water pumps, belts, coils, and even engine bearings for 5+ years, until I have sold the car. But use this guy to tell you how to install it.

Alex is there a way to see where that leak came from near the the turbo by visual inspection? I know it was covered by the heat shield. I had my coolant reservoir replaced because it was a leak and 2 hoses because of coolant damage because the hose was soft. The shop did the work. Put pressure through the system before to check for leaks and and after when the work was done to check for leaks. I left and 9 days later same issue. Come to find out there was a secondary leak from rusted pipes from coolant line going to the turbo. In your opinion if you did the work on the reservoir and 2 hoses wouldn't you check other lines leading from or associated with the coolant just to make sure there isnt any issues so you might want to inform the customer? Thanks. Oh I have a 2012 Chevy Cruz Eco with 116k miles.
@AlexTheCarDoctor2 жыл бұрын
They definitely should’ve looked over the whole cooling system for you for potential future failures,I don’t see why not it benefits both you and the shop if they find something like a rusted coolant parts

I just replaced the coolant reservoir on a 2012 Cruze a few months ago. It was definitely cracked and leaking. Now it's back in our shop, came in after overheating. Coolant was low. I filled it and pressure tested again. No leaks, no pressure drop. Sat on the lift under pressure for 30 minutes before I got drips. If you pull the tube the leak goes away. Not an obvious leak and sometimes doesn't leak depending on how it's positioned. Just poor design by GM.

It’s not necessary, but if you’re in there and have it in the kit or just want more comfort, I’d say go ahead and replace but you don’t have to.
