Good video, all makes sense to me.. One sensor cable seems that would give enough warning if pads were worn out as both sides would wear roughly the same time.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, the axle set of pads should wear at the same rate, unless you had something like a stuck piston, but I think you would probably notice something was wrong. I have my wheels off so often, that it’s easy for me to keep an eye on pad wear visually.

Great video, I intend to tackle this myself. I have done BMWs in the past and I have all the required tools. Would be nice to know the torque value for those brackets though. Thanks.

Thanks for the comment, I’m glad the video was useful. I will have a look and see if I can find the torque value.
@raymahon5130Ай бұрын
@superjumboracing found it, 77 ft-lbs.

Dear Sir, dear superjumboracing, thank You for this informative Video. Congratulations for Your "Bellezza". She is a real dream. I am driving Alfa Romeo 166 2.4 Diesel in it's last version. My question is: shouldn't one use some brake grease for those sliders You sanded and cleaned up❓ In the Last week's I watched endless numbers of Videos and tried to order all things possible needed, to replace my brakes with calipers, discs and pads. Hope I will be successful like You. Best Regards

Thanks for the comment. I’m really glad you enjoyed the video. You are correct about greasing the contact points on the callipers, and pads. I have found that these brakes require more grease than other cars I have worked on. Obviously though without the possibility of getting any on the friction surfaces!!

thanks for the video. you seem to go clockwise to loosen the caliper bracket bolt instead of "lefty loosen" is that correct?
@superjumboracing3 ай бұрын
I will look into it, but from memory I think it is a normal thread, but the bolt head is facing away from you so although I am turning clockwise, I am still turning to the left. (I hope that makes sense?).

what did you do after you disconnected the wear indicator on the passenger side? just leave it unplugged?
@superjumboracing6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. On my car there was only one connector from the car wiring loom/harness, to the rear brake pads wear sensors. (It seems to only monitor one side?). My car is a UK right hand drive, so my pads had a connection for the pad wear sensor on the left hand side (passenger). The right hand side (driver side) fly lead from the brake pad was attached to the retaining clip on the calliper, but the actual plug wasn’t connected to anything (it is just left unplugged). I hope that helps.

He was showing you how it unplugged before working on that side ! When the job is done it's plugged back in obviously as the job is identical except for the sensor plug.

Thanks for your video, how many miles were on the pads?
@superjumboracing9 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment. The car is on 55,000 miles. I have only owned the car for coming up to one year, so I’m afraid I don’t know how many miles on these pads, sorry about that.

Do you need to plug into computer after you changed your rear brake pads?
@superjumboracing7 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment. No I don’t even have a code reader for this car. It’s something I really should buy. You just need to be in the service mode before you start the work, and then come out of the service mode when you have completed the work.
