Have really missed these tributes to Classic Italian exotica. You do them so well Petrolicious. Those comments regarding not letting a vintage sit too long. Just wonderful. Bravo!

Not in all cases I'd say, Giugiaro's effort with the 159 was terrific, just as good a design as his much earlier Alfas to my eyes, though not exceptional to drive. Cars like the Aston DB9, Ferrari 458, Pagani Zonda, Alfa 8c and Jaguar F type will be worthy classics for the history books, and we'll have forgotten about all the rubbish that's out today as it gets left behind. Every era has its classics and lemons, modern design looks terrific if you forget about the bad examples.

Brings back memories! My first car, bought at the ripe old age of 20, was a 101 Sprint Normale, white like yours. I should have known something was up when while leaving the dealership in my new three year old car a hubcap fell off. That car began my love of Alfas, also taught me to deal with rust.

That relationship with the wheel and shift lever, the way the pedals encouraged heel and toe shifting was ideal. I've had many Alfas, no longer. Now it is a '16 Mazda MX 5 Miata, a great car but it doesn't have the relationship of controls that the old Alfas had. While driving it I think about the shift lever falling right to hand the way the Alfas did, there is something missing about the pedal placement the way the Alfa had perfected it.

directly behind these two is where I typically park for over night camper van camping . It's a well traveled route for tourist plus car and cyclist alike .. and everywhere about here you'll see trash left behind as is seen to left rear.. The typical American trade off.. Nature getting trampled by nature lover's in cars. Too many people with not much going on upstairs ..
