This was almost nine years ago. Have you seen any of his performances since then that are on here? I don't know if he was just holding back for comedy value in this performance, as it was the first time he had sung on TV (though he used to perform in a pop/rock band in his teens/early 20s), or whether he had some training in musical theatre and opera techniques since but his voice now is on a par with any professional stage singer.

Jason obviously has had some singing experience, as his voice is quite superb, for someone not used to singing for their living. You would not really guess he was a stand up comic, with a voice as decent as that.

I had never heard of either of these men before, (I am in the USA) but a few minutes ago, youtube recommended a video of this Jason singing Bring Him Home. He was/is stunningly good in that video! I take it from this video he is a comedian. I think he should spend at least as much time singing as he does cracking jokes. The Alfie guy was a bit too much vibrato for my tastes.
