Well you are my hero and savior. My wife is now happy and drying. We just came up from Fiona a weak hurracaine but with a lot of water although its weakness we have been without electricity and water since last Saturday night, a week and a day running like crazy, gas lines, noisy old generator died, get a new one!!! There were none. Finally I got one made in Planet X. The thing is that there were floods and that have all servicemen terribly occupy repairing flooded washers and dryers and if you have a problem with your generator you are doomed. So today my wife start washing clothes like crazy and suddenly like a thunder in the night "Javier, the dryer is not drying". Aha!!!! I just knew if it can't be solved I'll be hanging cloth in the patio, but where? I have a tree down in the middle of the patio that needs to be chopped. I remember You Tube and the saints that illuminates from a far lost souls in despair. I saw one solving the problem with resetting the thermostats, good. But I keep checking and then I find your show great one! I just follow your steps and clean the machine like new, reset the button, screw it up and she's drying like new. You are my hero! Many blessings! Nobody knows to whom you are going to help but this generosity of yours, to take time and take us by the hand and fix a problem truly will get you to straight heavens.

Our reset button doesn’t seem to push in or up at all. It just turns on the end of its little post. We have an electric version of this dryer. The DLG5966G. It was recently moved from home to home, quite a distance, if that sheds any light. Any words of wisdom? Thanks!
@AlFixit Жыл бұрын
Well if it is like mine, you cannot tell by pushing on it if you have reset it or not because it does not have a big click sound or stay in. Problem may be somewhere else and will need more testing tho.
@mysticmommy5187 Жыл бұрын
So how do you know when you’ve reset it? Just if it starts to heat? And what are the steps to do it - to push the little button?
@AlFixit Жыл бұрын
@Mystic Mommy video shows how to get to it, then push and see if dryer heating. Many of them don't have a reset button. Otherwise need to take apart enough to test element and other things like high limit thermostat with a multimeter, if there is continuity is good, if no continuity needs replaced.

I have been using a high temp grease or any grease or even standard car oil works. I think that wD40 does not last very long.

How much normally cost for a maintenance service like this one ?
@AlFixit2 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on what area you are in. I am not sure but if the price too low, nobody will do it and if price too high, can just replace it cheaper. I often help out seniors and fix for free but I think the owner of this one gave me $100 anyway.

I replaced the drum wheels on my dryer and cleaned all the inside while I had it tsken apart. Put it back together and had to press the reset button. It started heating up but then it tripped again. Any help would be really appreciated!
@AlFixit Жыл бұрын
Could be the exhaust vent to the outside is restricted, or exhaust hose behind the machine gets kinked.
@quackinator1609 Жыл бұрын
@@AlFixit couldn't be that. We cleaned those already. I even tested the fuses to see if they worked and they did. I replaced the thermostat fuse anyway just in case. The first load did heat up and it got dried. The second load didn't heat up. I checked to see if the reset button pushed out bur this time it didn't. So now I'm really confused on what the issue could be
@quackinator1609 Жыл бұрын
@@AlFixit I checked the exhaust exit and felt the air flowing pretty good. I did a diagnostic test on the dryer and it gave me a d80 error code and the vent flow light turns on. We already cleaned the inside so there's nothing blocking the vent.
@AlFixit Жыл бұрын
@quackinator1609 very interesting, could put thermometer at exhaust to see if temp ranges are actually what thermostat range is or if new part is malfunctioning?
@quackinator1609 Жыл бұрын
@@AlFixitI replaced both the reset button and thermostat button and I'm still getting the error. I even removed the dryer vent hose from the wall and let it run like that. Still gives me the error. At this point, I'm just ready to throw this damn dryer out from a catapult

What you suggest for lubrication of the rollers?
@AlFixit2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I have tried a few things. First, things like wd 40 are too thin. It works to get things loosened up but then doesn't last long enough. Oil is ok, but I prefer a high temp grease. Some kinds of grease are too thick tho.
@RicardoGarcia-go3rt2 жыл бұрын
