I am from Algarve, and usually we do use olive oil over the fish, especially if there is not enough fat. In this time of the year, most fish have not developed a big layer of fat, so they are a little dry and less tasty, so olive oil gives that nice flavor and adds healthy fat. Some restaurants do have a prepared sauce made with olive oil, garlic and coriander. And also, we (I am sure there are a few exceptions) do not eat fish and fries. Fish is usually served with a tomato salad (which is called salada montanheira). That is is what is traditional in the Algarve. Your bill was expensive, but eating at Marina de Vilamoura, you have to expect that, and you were already expecting something like that, plus the seabass is not a cheap fish, so... Albufeira is just like you said, a place to enjoy the sun, beach, night parties, but without the portuguese culture. Albufeira looks like another british colony, and most tourists are british and irish, that is why so many irish and english style pubs.

Thank you Classy Couple for making this video. You are doing a great tourism service for Portugal. I am hoping the social distancing/shelter in place protocols get completely lifted soon across the global. In the US we are starting to get back to normal but this unfortunate situation has decimated so many small businesses it's to the point of being cruel. I respect and understand lives were/are at stake but in the US we are questioning if the government reaction was extreme or if there could have been a better alternative. Thanks again!

Olhao and Tavira are quite busy and next week everything opens again. Maybe try Alvor, not too far away from Ferraguda? Was surprised that Albufeira was that quiet.. for sure a super tourist town but still.. anyway, enjoy the weather, the wines, the sea breezes..despite the current "lonely" vibes you experienced.. stay safe guys.

In all the Lagos Concelho (County/municipality) we had only4 Covid cases and they cured now. The City of Lagos and all the area around is Covid free. The beaches are great and the water today was strangely warm... but i'm not complaining. The beaches have legally open but there a rules and the oficial beach season starts the 6 of june. From that day on there will be lifeguards on the beaches and aside from saving lifes on the sea they will also controll the separation rules. And that day on there will be an app that willl tell you if a beach full... and then you will have to chose another... that would be a big deal somewhere else... but there are son many beaches in Algarve that you just chose another one.

If you want to holiday in the most unspoilt part, you need to go to the East Algarve to the 10-12 kilometres of amazing super safe beaches between Manta Rota and Vila Real. Just a tip: try oranges from Algarve the sweetest in Europe. You will love true Algarve`s orange juice. And try also Água de Monchique from the mountain over where you stay, arguable the best in Portugal and also with a high PH so good for your stomachs and general health. If you go to the top of the Serra de Monchique on a clear day you will be rewarded with fantastic views of all Algarve and good part of Alentejo. Also try Dom Rodrigo the traditional sweet of Algarve, just great.

You can only get grilled fish, nothing else, and they are usually packed (not now of course). I myself, love fish and I am used since I was a child to eat fish at least during the weekend. It was (and still is) sacred to eat fish at saturday and sunday. Now during the summer time, you walk through some streets in the Algarve, and you will smell the fish being grilled on charcoal.
