Love these basic video's. Got two things for this one: Casting the hand with the marble is pure magic. Very cool effect. Like those bottles with a piece of wood with a bolt through it in them. Real mind bender if you are unfamiliar with alginate. (If you had shown the result first It would have taken me some time to figure that one out) And correct me if I got this wrong but the math on the extra water is not right. When you ad that extra quart you only have about a quart mixture left. So that would be half a quart of water in there, ad the extra quart and you end up with a ratio of (getting close to) 3 to one water/alginate mix. That is pretty amazing.

It's hard to tell in the video, but that's a 2 cup measuring cup that I filled with 1 and 1/4 cup of water. When I first mixed it I just poured in 1 cup and then added the remaining 1/4 later.

Are you able to use plaster of Paris in an algenate mold?
@brickintheyard7 жыл бұрын
Yes, but I don't recommend it. Plaster Of Paris is the weakest formula of plaster and, when cured, is very chalky and brittle. Art casting is best done with Hydrocal or Hydrostone. Both are not much more in price than Plaster of Paris but they are infinitely stronger.

Hey guys, I'm into mold making but I'd like to know what the softest silicone is.
@brickintheyard7 жыл бұрын
Our softest silicone is PlatSil Gel-OO20. That said, Deadener or Deadener LV can be added to PlatSil Gel-OO, Gel-10, or Gel-25 to achieve a super soft gel like fatty tissue.

I read your Web page for platsil gel 00-20, but I'd like to know if there's a cheaper option, but very simular silicone to 00-20
