0:10: 🌱 Taking care of our gut health is important for overall physical and mental well-being. 5:10: 🌱 Eating a diverse range of 30 different plants per week is important for a healthy gut. 2:21: 🧠 The gut-brain connection plays a significant role in overall health, impacting mental health and physical well-being. 7:08: 🥦 Eating a high-fiber diet is important for promoting good bacteria in the body, and there are various ways to increase fiber intake. 9:07: 🐟 Eating oily fish and taking a smart probiotic can improve gut health and brain function. 11:45: 🥗 Processed foods containing additives and preservatives can disrupt the natural bacteria in our gut and cause inflammation and other health problems. 13:56: 🥦 Following a gluten-free diet may be important for those with gluten intolerance or celiac disease, but it does not provide significant health benefits for the general population. Counting calories is also not effective for gut health. Recap by Tammy AI

The last 3 tips are quite important. Avoiding factory fed animal meats (grass fed meat would be way better) , avoiding processed food (best if you do not eat them at all), avoiding added sugar (white sugar or sugar substitutes). Then, focusing on whole grain, fiber rich, fresh food diet as much as possible. Fasting also helps to resert our bodies from time to time. Important thing is to do experimentations because there is no one size fits all. You can optimise your health by increasing or decreasing certain foods. I am on this journey and thanks Ali for covering this important topic. Through you, more people will become aware about their own Gut Health.

Yes and in addition to this, I just want to add that the fibers shouldn't be from only bread. There is actually plenty of research that shows gluten is increasing inflammation in the gut. Gliadin is the major protein found in wheat, Gliadin can activate T cells and trigger a pro-inflammatory immune response, also for people without celiac disease.

Natto, Kimchi, Doenjang, miso, tempeh, possibly beer in moderate quantities. Fermented fiber. If nothing else, it's less harsh on your gut when starting out. That said, the brute force approach of just gradually ramping up your legume consumption after buying a pressure cooker works, too.

Great vid! Your use of pictures, B-roll, interview clips complemented with explanations is so smooth and makes for very easy watching. My ONLY criticism is that of showing the Jordan Peterson clip and dismissing the anecdote. Yes there is good evidence and research done about too much consumption of red meat, but don't dismiss carnivore for individuals who suffer from never ending allergies. There are a lot more anecdotes coming forward in recent years and I think it is something to watch.

@avinashrockstar No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Not a word. I never want to hear that name uttered ever again in my entire life. You're crazy. You people are crazy. It's all just so sad, y'know? You had a life before this. You had friends, maybe a family. Then, one day, you spot one of his videos on your recommended page. Or maybe you search up tips to improve your lifestyle? However you found him, it doesn't matter. It all ends up the same way. You stare at the overestimating thumbnail, interested in what advice this “Dr Berg” character could give you. And so you click on the video. “Here are 3 ways to improve your gut health and microbiome!” You are intrigued by the video, MESMERISED, even. From the format of the video to the actual information itself, everything is so interesting. You watch the entirety of the video and start to implement these tips into your lifestyle. And, you begin to notice changes. Positive changes. And you think, “Wow! These tips are making a big difference in my life! Maybe I should watch more of this guy's videos and see what other tips he could give me.” So you go back to Dr Berg's channel and choose another one of his videos to watch. Again, you watch it in full and do the things he tells you to. Your life is improving drastically, to the point that loved ones begin to notice how much happier you are. You watch more and more of his videos, and at this point, you could never go back to the miserable life you had before finding this miracle man. You binge watch his videos, day and night, and after some time, you realise it: you've watched all of his videos. Every single one. So you wait. You wait for a few days at a time, endlessly looking out for any sign of a new upload. And when he uploads, you watch it intently and immediately. Your eyes are bloodshot from staring at the screen well into the night, but you can't stop. But eventually, the 48-hour wait between videos becomes too much to bear. It's an excruciatingly long amount of time, and you need some stimulation between each video. So you search up “Gut health” and click on the first video. You listen to what the doctor says, but you realise that this person isn't a doctor; their advice is terrible! So you kindly alert the naive people in the comments by replying to people with just two words: “Dr Berg”. You hope this will pique their interest, and make them search up this mysterious Dr Berg, and find out how wonderful he is for themselves! You spam “Dr Berg” everywhere, under every video you can find, thinking of how much better their lives will be once they find him. But, it's not enough. Though your friends have already left you, you desperately search for them everywhere you can think of. You find them. They stare at you in worry and disgust, yet you can't tell them where you've been. The only thing you can say, as you look into their anxious eyes, is “Dr Berg.” They seem confused. You realise that their inferior minds would not be able to understand the true intellect of Dr Berg. So you run away from them, their distraught calls of your name ringing in your ears. What was your name? It doesn't matter anymore. Only Dr Berg matters. You come out onto the bustling street and push through the crowd. You run over to strangers, and you yell in their ears, “DR BERG.” Of course, they don't get it. Incompetent idiots, aren't they? You run back to your house and go inside to watch another video of Dr Berg's. You look at the screen, waiting for the next upload. The clock ticks loudly. As you look at the screen, it turns black. You stare at your reflection and realise how much Dr Berg has truly impacted your life. You look incredibly similar to him, from his hairstyle to his face. What if you are Dr Berg? What if you were Dr Berg all along? That man is truly brilliant, is he not? Dr Berg. Dr Berg. Dr Berg. Dr Berg. Dr Berg. DR BERG. DR BERG, DR BERG DR BERG DR BERG DR BERG DR BERG DR BERG DR BERG DR BERG *Beep.* *Beep.* *Beep.* *Beep* You open your eyes. Your vision is somewhat blurred, but you can just make out you're in a white room. And you're on a bed. A… hospital bed? You can make out footsteps and a man in a white coat walks in. “Oh, you're awake? You'd been out cold for a couple of days. Do you recall what happened? Probably not, all things considered. Your friends told me they tried to enter your house, and once they got in they found you on the floor, blood pooling from your head. How are you now…” But the strange man's words pass straight through your head. “...Sir? Sir? Listen, I’m a doctor, I can help you…” Who does this man think he is? A doctor? He’s not a doctor… Only Dr Berg is a real doctor. He can fix this. At that moment, another man comes in, holding his phone. You get up and snatch it from him, and frantically open KZbin and type in the words “Dr Berg concussion”. You click on the first result. “A defining characteristic of a concussion is inflammation in the brain, so you should eat a diet rich in antioxidants…” His comforting voice blares out of the tinny speakers. Diet. You look up at the man in the white coat, who calls himself a doctor. Diet. You lunge towards him, and bite- Before you can bite his arm, he takes a bottle and smashes it against your head. Ouch! That's gotta hurt. You already have an injured head, so you're lucky you're not dead already. …oh. Nevermind. *Beep.* *Beep.* *Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppp* 12 million. 12 million others like this, who fell into the trap, all because of a click-baity thumbnail and title. Don't mention that name.

Eating a whole food vegan diet has been awesome for my gut health. I went vegan for the animals but having the health benefits has been an added benefit. Eat nuts and seeds every day, so don' t need to eat fish at all. Easily hitting all the dietary goals Ali mentioned without even trying. And I don't even take a probiotic. I am glad more people are actually talking about how important plants are in our diet.

0:10: Taking care of our gut health is important for overall physical and mental well-being. 5:10: Eating a diverse range of 30 different plants per week is important for a healthy gut. 2:21: The gut-brain connection plays a significant role in overall health, impacting mental health and physical well-being. 7:08: Eating a high-fiber diet is important for promoting good bacteria in the body, and there are various ways to increase fiber intake. 9:07: Eating oily fish and taking a smart probiotic can improve gut health and brain function. 11:45: Processed foods containing additives and preservatives can disrupt the natural bacteria in our gut and cause inflammation and other health problems. 13:56: Following a gluten-free diet may be important for those with gluten intolerance or celiac disease, but it does not provide significant health benefits for the general population. Counting calories is also not effective for gut health. Recap by Tammy AI

Another way of achieving a robust, varied spectrum of gut biota is to vary the probiotic brands you take. Buy about 3 months worth of a probiotic from a reputable manufacturer with excellent reviews...then, when the bottle runs out, get a different brand. Keep switching brands and you'll build up a microbiome of different bacteria, different strains, filling every ecological niche in your gut. You can do it more rapidly by buying 2-3 different brands at once and alternating which brand you take daily...or start off with the Heights product which looks like it has a nice varied "menu" of different friendly bacteria. I'm a pharmacist, BTW, so this is based on research, not mere speculation

They're not going to stay around long in the stomach (too acidic), but they do stay in the gut a while. I currently take probiotics daily, as well as eating yogurt...but just heard an interesting tidbit on Rangan Chatterjee's KZbin interview of Mindy Pelz: she mentioned that targeted fasting had such a salutary effect on her patients' microbiota that she stopped supplementing them with probiotics. I'm going to have to check into that!@@mauing

I’m just tired of this man, was doing so good 3 4 months ago. Remained consistent in the gym for months , made a great transformation mentally/physically and spiritually. Was feeling proud and feeling good about myself and then this all started . I started noticing that I’m getting bloated, lack of energy and loss of appetite and no will to work hard. Lost about 15-20pounds in 2 months without any effort. Then in between that I got extremely sick and was forced to stay at hospital for 2 days, it was a weird state I had diarrhoea but I wasn’t eating anything so nothing came out(painful cramps and what not) . Doctor prescribed some medicines, it helped me for some days but whenever the dose completed the symptoms started coming back, heart palpitations with loss of appetite and no motivation or drive for anything. And now I don’t remember the last time I felt like myself and I’ve just made this my life. Going to watch this video and implements the things hopefully it helps

There is actually plenty of research that shows gluten is increasing inflammation in the gut. Gliadin is the major protein found in wheat, Gliadin can activate T cells and trigger a pro-inflammatory immune response, also for people without celiac disease. Otherwise, some very good tips and points. I would love that you showcase the studies when you mention them, that would also make you more convincing than the influencer opinions. The interview also give some kind of ethos to your points, but studies would just make it even better. Great work and have a great day.

Go slowly!! If you get off to what he just said and you do it full-on with determination, then you will probably feel better, lose a few pounds, and just be a better, healthier person all around. BUT, like any thing, you started off way too fast. And that determination wears off. Here's what's working for me: The next time you go to the store pick up what you did last week except maybe switching out whole wheat bread instead of white bread. Just calm. That's just from me.

Thanks, Ali Abdaal, for this video. Would love for you to do a video on the effects of our food&drink including wine beer coffee & fruit juice that have been sprayed with Glyphosate, We can check the levels of this chemical Glyphosate in our food & even our urine. One of the foods I was surprised to see one of the Highest Levels were in Almonds, which they can also make into flour & milk. It's very damaging to our Gut Health.

Hi I AM 42 years old man, I don’t drink alcohol, never smoked, no drugs etc. I have very eat life without stress and I would describe myself as a friendly and positive person- but 😂 I discovered just after 30 that I have very often headaches and them I have to go to the toilet few times- i stated to make a note with food I previously had- I have food intolerance after eating - celery , red and white cabbage, buckwheat, millet, barley, seafood, almonds, pistachios, cranberry, dry and fresh plums, raisins, oats, beef , turkey, duck, lamb and wild meats ( except chicken and pork) !! Also alkohol is not good for me , the same like wine ( especially red) I don't like beer, so I don't drink alcohol at all. I love white and green tea. I had meningitis when I was a child - if that helps. I have allergie or strong response from my body ( especially my eyes ) after taking acetylsalicylic acid. I have never had a stomach ache after eating anything in my life!!! I always have a headache first - it usually lasts up to 20 hours after eating and then I have to go to the toilet several times (I have slight diarrhea). I am 182 cm tall and I weigh 72 kg. I have an athletic figure, I don't have any diseases, I had hernia surgery when I was a child and once again at the age of 30, this time on both sides of my groin. I had few appointments with doctors and dietetics unfortunately, none of them was able to help me. I started to have strange symptoms : I had a very long-lasting cough for almost 3 months and now I feel like I have something in my throat and I have to cough quite often - I have such a hoarseness. I started to cure myself using / taking : Candex SIBO 45 Capsules ( contains : calcium, Grapefruit speed, Berberine oregano extract, Reishi) 2. L-Glutamine 500mg 90 Capsules 3. Glutamine power 4. Creatine monohydrate 5. Collagen peptides 6. Zinc Magnesium and B6 7. Vitamin B complex 8. Vit D3 9. AAKG. 10. Probiotics: 60 Billion CFU Pro Bio Cultures Complex - 60 Capsules (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Saccharomyces boulardii) Mastic gum Betaine HCl Sometimes I feel very well but them all symptoms returned to me again. I was thinking to start keto diet for a few weeks to see if that's will help me. Eliminate flours, sugars and dairy. Have you ever encountered a similar case or know how I can help myself?
