@ASquared0079 жыл бұрын
SaltpeterTaffy No. My goal is simply to express myself. Whether others like it or not, well that's a bonus. However, in order to survive solely in the Music Industry, you have to 'play the game.' Music is just an intellectual hobby for me. I already have a career. It's just something I've always wanted to do.
@SaltpeterTaffy9 жыл бұрын
So for you, "keeping the listener engaged" is the meaning of self-expression. I don't feel that way, myself. That just means making catchy music to me.
@ASquared0079 жыл бұрын
SaltpeterTaffy No. Perhaps I'm not explaining enough. There is a formula for hit songs. Certain things that all of them have. If you want a hit, you have to use that formula. I have researched this extensively. If you google hit song formula (or similar) I'm sure you can find the same things I did. That is what makes a song 'catchy.' Music in the right hands can control human emotion. It's actually quite powerful and has ties to Psychology and Sociology. I don't want to make 'hits,' I want to make music that speaks to people on a large scale. That is my personal goal. I will make albums (like the older artists once did) and will not succumb to the BS the industry runs on (simply cranking out catchy, meaningless hits). I have a sketchbook full of ideas. I just need to flesh them out.

Thats because modern radio ((commercial )) is a shit palace of numbness, its about corporate $$$$$$$$$ making & nothing else, familiarity, blandness, safety, comfort, sterility, $elling you shit you dont & never needed, its not about creativity, riskiness, exposing great talent, if you want that listen to community radio, propbably internet radio (( which I haven't heard )) or just do the ol fashioned thing & buy it, go to your friends houses, listen, share & enjoy yourselves, that used to be thing, mixed tapes shared around, people cranking it in cars, at beaches, parties etc, Dare radio play some Exquisite like AIC instead of arianda grandless !!!!

I hungout with Layne in Seattle, such a humble brother i can personally say. Jerry and Layne with the other brothers of AIC SHOULD! Have received a Grammy for DIRT, for style, original sound, harmony. Deval, is not a bandaid for AIC but the same love and compassion AIC's has always had even without Layne. They still smoke, but im glad to have had that chill time with Layne he would be happy with AIC's direction. Peace! GINO .

From a long sojourn from far way I've come back full circle to see a living god of rock waging an epic war against a pantheon of equals jealously seeking to crush him and his way. Yet I am still happy to find my brothers and sisters in rock here gathered in unity to pay homage. We may be faded but the string that binds us will never be still as long as the ancients' lines extend. Jerry may be one of those lines and even if he's not, he's worthy to be a new one. Long live the great gods of Music! Me too

@juaneps10 жыл бұрын
I ve been an AIC fan since 1992 and all I can say is that all those debates about who is better, Staley or DuVall are a waste of time. I mean come on, we all loved Layney and we all were sad wheb he passed away, but this band had the courage to born again and they are still a kickass band. DuVall has the enormous mission to fill the void that Layney left, but come on, he does it amazingly !
@hholmes606810 жыл бұрын
After several years, seems like this is pretty much a shared opinion...I mean its years later anyway, Cantrell sounds and is different, and they are a different band, and their great.
@hholmes606810 жыл бұрын
Chris Portugal Yeah, I didnt even bother buying the first cd, I listened to a few videos, and I even saw them live, then about a year after that I actually got the albums and got into them, I dont mean this in a remotely sentimental way, it is great that aic are a band/thing still. Good job Cantrell.
@jasonx400810 жыл бұрын
totally agreed...of course no one could ever fill the shoes of the almighty layne staley (no sarcasm at all there, Layne is my all time fav singer), but DuVall does about as good of a job as anyone could....very admirable
