I, too, am confused by who they were still fighting after the alien ship limped away into space. Perhaps some paragraphic rearranging/editing would help?

Disjointed, like the author deleted some work and scrambled the rest. Timeline and scenes don't make sense.

Well, if you bash these things out quickly with a combination of your own ideas and AI writing software to help you structure it and add some filler or detail, you can easily lose track of things that don't flow or make sense properly, especially if you're relying on the software to keep track of it for you, or really are just doing it really quickly or carelessly. I'm not an 'all these stories are AI if they aren't perfect' person, but one can see how heavily it is used for these casual and niche short stories, that would never otherwise be considered for publication, if they couldn't be so easily dumped en masse onto a Reddit page or something similar. When I write some of my own short stories for my own amusement using AI software (because I have difficulty concentrating and putting ideas into words), you can see where something like Google's one, which basically allows an endless 'dialogue' with the AI, it can only remember the past several messages, and then starts forgetting stuff and changing details. Some, like Microsoft's, are better, because they set a hard cap on the messages allowed per 'conversation', but have excellent recall for important names and specific details, but are only useful for really short chunks of 'memory', really intended more for specific uses like coding and SFW web searches.

@AndrooUK makes sense, but I would think the "author" would at least proof read or proof listen to it before publication. This is just one of many many stories that would never be accepted for print publication. A lot of them sound like a 12 yr old got bored and just started writing stories. Imho

I got a little confused near the end. After the Titan and the rest of the fleet forced the enemy ship into retreat, there was a brief moment inside Charles' mind, then the next moment, he and Arlett were on the Titan, which was in a very bad condition? Where was the transition?
