Ian Holm did express that he wanted to do one more Alien movie before he passed away, which is probably the only reason his family gave their OK to use his likeness here. I really don't mind it, based on that. I think he would have had fun with the role if he were still here to take it.

This movie is a great deconstruction of the notion that all the protagonists in a movie automatically know and understand all the exposition being given to them. For Kay and Navarro they were either absent or unconscious so they didn't hear it. For Bjorn he just straight up ignored it. And they all paid the price for it.

The movie's set between Alien & Aliens, so it's like Alien 1.5 that's why it feels like both movies. I also see some resemblance between Cailee Spaeny & Jane Levy, Fede Alvarez definitely has a certain type in mind since he directed Evil Dead 2013 & Don't Breath 1(both starring Levy).
