As for the "believability" part, the teens in the movie don't have access to space travel. They have access to orbital SPACE TRACTORS and extremely focused work training, because they have been generational child-slave workers their entire lives. The film spend tens of minutes explaining to the audience that real space TRAVEL between planets is complicated, advanced, dangerous and extremely SLOW. It's not something normally done by mere civilians, which is why they have to risk their lives to access it.

How is that a plot hole? Everyone on it died and it was basically put on standby, the only reason the characters in the movie found it is because it had just happened to drift near the planet enough that it could be detected. The only reason Weyland would know where it is otherwise is if they sent distress signals and whatnot, it said they collected the Xeno like a year ago or something and it also said messages take 6 months to reach Weyland, plus however many years it might take to travel to this planet. Logically someone was on their way but space travel in this universe is slow. Assuming the next movie picks up where this left off it's possible the people on the way there will intercept the survivors.

The problem now is CGI significantly INFLATES the budget and EVERYONE’S eyes have now become SO over-bombarded by CGI effects, that UNLESS you have the BEST CGI EVER, most people are gonna be look, “meh, that CGI looks okay” or “that CGI looks fake.” Or I’m WRONG ABOUT ALL THIS and movies cost too much now because the execs are using them as a “front” to launder their own “Cayman Islands bank holdings” back into their own pockets (which wouldn’t REALLY surprise me).

Would be better if they could be more realistic with the scene like having minor injuries from the burns or something. The CGI for one particular android and the creature for the last scene was bad.

But it's the worst of the franchise (I'm not including AvP). Films 1-4 were each original and had clear direction. And I liked Scott's bold expansion of the story line in Prometheus and Covenant. But instead of finishing that trilogy we get this messy hotch potch? Despite all its clumsy references to the other films it feels disconnected and lacking in vision. Meh.

Alien3 has a poignant message and tone that sets it apart from the other films. It also had an emotionally satisfying ending (in the assembly cut version). The number of call backs and re-use of lines from the other films in Romulus was egregious, almost 4th wall breaking in once instance. The final screens were boring to me also.

I went to see it based on AJ's review and for me it was just an average movie. I don't think it deserves the praise. I'm not disappointed since I was entertained and I enjoy the franchise but there's no reason to eulogize...

I completely agree, very overhyped. Definitely nothing special or even good except a few scenes. Disappointed for sure.

Good trailer, but it exposes too much of the action. I knew what was going to happen because i saw the trailer. These marketing people are retarded.

The film was awesome, the only thing that was confusing to me is how fast the xenomorphs hatched from embryo to bursting the chest and than maturing, and the second ending monster did it like in 10 minutes or so. That is just not possible by any means!

I mean... Comon. This movie realy doesn't do anything new. It fell like this movie is just another legacy sequel like the force awakens. Like "Weren't the old days awesome??? Anyway here is a entire movie which is basically just alien 1 enjoy."
@KanyeWestIsTheGOAT-2 ай бұрын
@@tomgu2285 I never said it reinvented the wheel. Prometheus tried to do that and it was a terribly written bore fest. Its execution is phenomenal, done so much better than the OG. The cinematography and set pieces crafted here lend much more to help create a terrifying claustrophobic atmosphere unlike the stilted stale presentation of the OG. Just like Cameron did with Aliens, he improved upon the stiff and dull atmosphere of the first.

I don't completely agree with you, even though it's expertly made as far as visual effects,I watched it twice, the first time wtf?! Is this. It's like a bunch of kids stole their parents car and went on a haunted house exploration weirdness. This movie feels like it's part of a good movie, not a continuation. It's not a stand alone movie by any stretch of the imagination. I give it 3 stars if you're a alien fan,1.9999 stars if you're a movie fan😛👽

I saw Romulus with my wife. We both are extreme alien fans since the beginning! I'll make it short: Andy was awesome, the rest boring as hell. My wife said, the movie felt more like a teenies TV-Pilot rather than a serious alien movie. And I must say, she has a good point. The movie just doesn't have the vibe and the feeling of a real alien movie, it feels like something OKAY for todays TV. And boy the ending.... jesus that CRAP ENDING...

Same. Me and my wife went last night. We were pumped at the beginning but by the middle we were both checking our phones to see how time was left till it ended. It was a alien movie that didn’t feel like a alien movie.

These movies are the reason why I think we should use .5 in ratings. 8.5 is exactly what I would give Alien Romulus. Not as great as 9 but 8 feels little lower for me. 8.5. edit. Alien series could be either dream come true or absolute travesty.

@lasskinn4742 ай бұрын
the atmosphere is depressing and coming from aliens it's "well that big win didn't really matter!". it'd be better with different set of characters. edit: I mean the story itself is 'fine' enough.. it's just in the bigger lore it's a lame ending for things, if it was throwaway characters who landed on there with a facehugger it would be better in that way.
