I really LOVED this movie. I know there are quite a few people who hated it or it fell flat, but for me it was a perfect alien movie. Definitely a step up from Covenant. For one it actually made me care about our main characters compared to Covenant, where I was mostly watching to see the xenomorph. Being creative in freezing the facehuggers tail was brilliant, I love the extra thought in how would you deal with these creatures? Same goes for the room where they upped the temp to match their bodies. It made it feel like a sneak section from the game. OH AND THE GAME. The whole space station felt like when I walked through Sevastopol station in Isolation. Which ofcourse felt incredibly like the original Nostromo ship. I was enthralled the whole time just picking out all the details. And like you said the lil extra stage between chestburster and xenomorph was such a natural addition to its life cycle. I did turn to my friend and told her I almost thought it was unnecessarily sexual in its imagery, but this is the Alien franchise we are talking about. It always has been. And so for me it aligned really well with the previously established imagery. And the aliens itself! They did exactly what I wanted to see. Stalk, hunt, be terrifying. For me its hard to get truly scared from them, 'cuz I love these creatures just so much. I am more excited to see them than scared, and that's okay for me! When I saw all the corpses of the chestbursted people I just thought, there is no way there is only the one xenomorph that hatched from our characters. Nor did the trouble end with the people on the space station killing that one single xeno we see hanging. I was excited to see I was proven right when you saw all the xenos come crawling into view. And for me the last act did actually work. This is the part of the movie where I got genuinely terrified. I'm sure it won't work for everyone, but I have a personal deep fear for anything that looks eerily human yet... wrong. The not quite human looking creatures. And the offspring played in on that perfectly, so much so I couldn't sleep that night. That's a very personal experience to me tho! It just happened to play in on a genuine fear I had. (And I feel really bad for the actor that his normal experience also scares me...) And in a way I did see a hybrid coming when they brought in the black goo. We've had several alien looking things since Prometheus, and the fact Kay injected it in herself, I was just waiting to see what kind of abomination that brought forth. Especially with the rat scene we had earlier. Overall, I LOVED this movie. I honestly had nothing to nitpick about it. And I'm just glad I avoided most trailers beforehand, it made my experience better. I'm sure others have other opinions, and some people loved it as well and some people hated it, and that's okay! We're not all going to like the same thing! I hope a next installment is more enjoyable for you all! :D

If this reviewer and other fans of this film in particular haven't, they really should play Alien: Isolation. There are references to that game all over the movie. In fact, the director included save points from the game as indicators that something bad is about to happen

I’m actually playing through the game for the first time now! Love it so far and can see the inspiration. Even more clear that Alvarez took inspiration and payed homage to literally everything in the franchise!

@@TheUnprofessionalReviewer if you have finished the game, I would be interested to see you doing a review on it. I know you only do movies, really, but you could make an exception for Alien Isolation

All style no substance. As a alien fan I rate this movie quite low. High rating for practical effects and set design and sound engineering and direction of photography.

yes their is substance with Rain and Andy's unique relationship

What do you mean? The entire films theme was fear of reproduction and childbirth. None of them want to bring a kid into the fucked up mining world. It preys on this fear so well throughout, Like even when the first alien is births it's the pregnant woman that witnesses it as if the movie is saying "you're future" The theme of romulus and remus fighting for sustenance and how every character is out for themselves. Rain even takes the vials where as ripley would destroy them, she knows she can sell them later.

I’d watch this over and over again over Alien Covenant

I was bored out of my mind watching this movie.

I dunno, I disagree, I really liked it, at least it wasn't another tired ass, over done, burnt out rehash of ALIENS that we've seen in every other piece of media since...

I didnt mind Rook as much as the cheap fan service like "Get away from her you b***h!" Dialogue like this was completely inappropriate. Alien is not Deadpool paying homage to previous Fox superhero movies. The Alien franchise is supposed to take itself a little more seriously. They also lifted entire set pieces from other, better movies. After 10 minutes, these set pieces like the hive as the lead girl shoots them in zero gravity were done. Its like the filmmakers said, "Do you recognize this from Aliens? Did you see how this came from Aliens?"

I watched the film twice on Thursday haha. I really like it and enjoyed it. But I still can’t wrap my head around the last 15-20 minutes. In general, the film went from Alien to Aliens too fast and I wished it stayed more to Alien. I’d still watch it again.

SPOILER QUESTION… The scene in the elevator shaft when Andy and his sister are trying to escape out…once the Elevator falls and crushes 90% of the Xenomorphs, was it just me or did the one super smart one “catch” Rain to potentially use her to harvest more eggs or did you get the feeling it was playing with her?
@d1g1cxlt_2 ай бұрын
yes thats why it was holding her there a facehugger was waiting. The xenomorphs always put breeding before killing.

That scene had me cracking up😅 for one the alien would in Instantly taken her back to the hive. He just sat her on the ledge all nice and And gentle like they were about to have tea as to earlier in the movie it snatch the pregnant character right away up in the air and then didn't even leave a face hugger by her in the nest. It's inconsistency writing with the xenos and how they would behave as I see it.

In an interview, Fede said he was inspired by the scenes on Hadleys Hope colony on LV-426 where a bunch of kids were playing around in restricted area and got told off to scram and play somewhere else and where he got his idea to create his characters for Romulus. WTF he didn't just make an alien movie about the colonists on LV-426 who actually discovered the alien spacecraft and when one family of terraformers accidentally discovered the nest and came back with a facehugger! Romulus is a stupid movie.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I absolutely HATED this movie.. I don’t think this is a fresh take on Alien-it’s actually making me realize that Prometheus and Covenant weren’t that bad, they are MASTERPIECES compared to this! To me, this didn’t feel like a competently directed movie!! I was SO BORED the entire time-I looked at my watch FOUR TIMES. The way it is setup and paced is TERRIBLE.. I just don’t understand why it’s so bad.. WTF?!? Why are people saying this is good? I want my $17 back!
@philipdelagarza80392 ай бұрын
What was it that was sooooo bad? I liked it, it gave alot of nods to ALIEN and wasn't another tired rehash of ALIENS.

@@philipdelagarza8039he said prometheus and covenant where masterpieces😂 and then trashes on romulus. Like those films didn’t have issues aswell. no film is perfect Most ppl just want to have a good time, and this film did that for me and the majority of the fans agree. theres a reason after covenant they went on a almost decade long hiatus they just hating to hate at this point.

@@MONK77169At least Prometheus and Covenant were far more original than this regurgitated s**t. I mean WHY would a robot recycle Ripleys iconic line before she ever said it??? Resurrection, Prometheus and Covenant never needed cheap fan service. They had more memorable characters than Romulus.
