This is not a modified Lock-Mart Starcub light shuttle. It is in fact is a modified T-47 Airspeeder, desperately trying to escape the now desperately dismal Star Wars franchise. One which has been set to manual self destruct and cannot be overridden.

I came here to say this, thank you. In the first Alien it seems pretty clear that the shuttles are used as lifeboats. In the scene from Romules, it would seem they used to shuttle to escape the station thats crashing into the ice rings.

The scene with the station being destroyed is probably at the end of Romulus. My theory is that the movie ends with a survivor who self destructs the station and escapes in the shuttle. The shuttle is probably a standard escape craft.

I just wanna thank @pilgrimgrey4191 for first letting me know that the iconic Narcissus lifeboat vessel is indeed in the Romulus trailer and well that got my gears turning. I'm not sure if my theory is going to create some contention among Alien fans as to why we might be seeing this craft again but if I am right in my theory, it could mean we might get ourselves a Ripley cameo In Alien Romulus. Now, how the bloody hell do you feel about that??? I feel like this possible narrative I talk about has a bit more weight to it than the conveniently placed tracking device in the grappling hook that seems to be a very popular idea at the moment, but only time will tell. Let me know if you have a better theory as to why we see this vessel in the trailer please? All the best guys and girls.

Maybe this new movie starts with the end of Alien? Similar to the end of The Thing (new one) or the end of Rogue One.....this theory could explain why WY was able to clone her in Resurrection and why she wasn't found. I LIKE IT!!

Well, theres the Audiobook "Alien: Out of the shadows" that expands the story. We can take that as cannon as any other installment in the Aliens sphere. Ripley actually came into contact with a space station 37 years into her journey as a result of Ash having downloading himself into MUTHUR and "stowed away" on the Narcissus. Having intercepted communications between miners on a planet and the crew of the space station/vessel in orbit speaking of Xenomorphs, he then guides the shuttle to their location. Chaos ensues, Ripley survives but has her memory wiped in the process, gets discovered another 20 years later by the team we see in Aliens.

This franchise began its comedy long ago. When supposedly highly trained people decided it was a good idea to disobey Ripleys order to quarantine Kane. Then, they all decide to have a nice carefree dinner with Kane, who JUST woke up from his face hugger. Comedy gold.

@LanceyKersti Yes the synthetic let him in, but the others would not have been begging to let Kane in like that in real life. Everyone, minus the synthetic, would have understood and wanted Kane in a very tightly secured quarantine. Also, the operation to remove the face hugger was also not secured and they barely had on any protection or hazmat type equipment. Nobody standing by with a weapon. Those scenes were just logically a comical shit show.

Interesting video and the differences between the Alan Dean Foster 'Alien' novel and the Alien movie endings does affect the plotline of Alien Romulus. The novel describes the Nostromo being reduced to atoms - it detonates like a small star and even the film depicts an explosion like a supernova. Very doubtful anything was left behind. Also in the novel, the xenomorph is burned when Ripley fires the Narcissus' engines as it tries to crawl up the exhaust port then it finally explodes due to differential pressure. I guess the Romulus writers went with the movie ending that shows the xenomorph falling away pretty much intact from the Narcissus as she fires the engines.

My absolute favorite sci-fi/horror movie. Second one being the original predator movie. The truly sad part of the xenomorph and predator universe, is that they have opened the doors to these characters to go to different worlds that have nothing to do with humans. These two franchises have so much to give us to explore. Its the producers and the companies I feel are to afraid to branch out thinking it will be a costly mistake. When in reality if it’s done right (if being the word of the day) we can have amazing characters, stories and movies, and tv shows that can entertain us for years to come.

I think Fede ultimately has had the opportunity to create his and his story alone but I also believe he realised it had to be a story the studio would agree with, which stops it becoming what you are talking about. They would rather it be relating heavily to the earlier films than something in an entirely new direction perhaps.

I'm doing a science video right now where I try to explain as best I can how acid blood works from the perspective of a Weyland science employee (lol). I go into detail but to summarise: Their blood just like the rest of them is silicon based. Silicon bonds with oxygen far better than carbon, although carbon compounds form proteins and DNA complexities when Silicon is more likely to create rocks. But it may be that the silicic acid has an intense reaction when exposed to outside gases and materials, therefore the proton transfer that occurs in hydrogen molecules (acid) could be far greater than that of earth's super acids such as fluoroantimonic acid, which is our most powerful acid.

I did this years ago where the alien is floating in the debris field they scanned it for organics and found the alien or the alien got aboard the search ship. Having ripley being found just needlessly complicates things. The alien was blasted and a rescue or search ship scanning the debris field is probably the best narratively speaking as we know they can survive in space and the cocoon could be a good addition

Have you listened to Alien out of the shadows on audible? Ripley was found and woken up before the salvage crew found her. Then she was put back in stasis. It’s an interesting story but it had a convenient ending to tie up with accepted canon. The grappling gun stuck in the door doesn’t fit and neither would the stuck Alien. Worth a listen

Its far more likely just a different escape shuttle. The station is being destroyed so obviously an escape was needed, and it's not like the design was unique. How many Toyota Ravs or Ford Escorts do you see on the road whenever you go for a drive?..... many. Companies use standard models, this is no different. Ripley's shuttle was launched far from the Nostromo into deep space 20 years prior and would have been far far away. Also I will be disappointed if they find the original alien... how do they find a charred corpse floating in the vastness of space. If the new series brings new people to the original planet as appears to be the case in the trailer, there are plenty of alien eggs on the derelict engineer ship that could give rise to a new situation. You wouldn't expect all the face-huggers if they just find the original alien. PS watch the Director's cut of Aliens if you want to see what happens to the colonists, great scenes that were cut from the original 1986 film.

Especially since it was seen that the cord was severed from the blast and the alien floated into space. It would make more sense if the Romulus found that same alien years later cocoonned floating

Maybe not. After the original movie Ridley Scott explained that the alien is in the process of cocooning itself in in the shuttle (that's why Ripley had to provoke it into attacking), because it has to "get on with its life cycle". So that might mean the alien is dying - or it might mean it's preparing to transform into yet another form.

No, it's not far-fetched. Given that the company is the real bad guy in these movies, it makes sense that the company would have been shadowing the Nostromo. As well, made certain Ripley's ship got to that station. They didn't wake her up because they didn't want witnesses, so they collected the cocoon and then sent Ripley's ship on its way. That makes sense.

The first immediate reaction that I had when I heard that 'Alien: Romulus' took place between 'Alien (1979)' and 'Aliens (1986)', was that the story was following 'Amanda Ripley', but then thought that if the story was set just a few years before Ellen Ripley was rescued from her 57 year long hypersleep, then this movie cannot be about Amanda. If this is set '20 years' after the first film, then it's possible, despite the fact that the main character's name isn't Amanda. I'm sure that there would be some big revelation/reveal during the movie or towards the end. All I know is that I can't wait for this movie to hit theaters.

But it did wonder if Cailey Spaeney's character was going to be her daughter. She grew up on Earth, so it is strange that she is now on this colony world but we'll see how it turns out. I would think that its put there as an easter egg, and also that the lifeboats for the insterstellar ships are more or less identical, just like lifeboats on cruiseships and other ships today more or less are identical. It would not be financially sound to redesign the lifeboats for every starship.

If there was this big station there when the Nostromos arrived, why using the mining vessel at all for it? In addition, the company would've get the Alien earlier to Aliens then. @@ENTERTAINtheDUDE Please do - I've been saying for years that they should adapt some of the novels as their ideas go beyond nameless faceless bald men running through corridors being picked off by the alien (looking at you, Alien 3). One in particular featured an intriguing concept of prisoners having time taken off their sentences if they would go into alien hives to collect what came to be known as "royal jelly" from the queen. They had metal bands fitted across their mouths and allowed themselves to be captured by adult drones and then placed in a hive. The trick would be to get enough time taken off your sentence before these experiences drove you utterly mad. There are MANY interesting concepts that go way beyond the overused and now boring "cat and mouse" concept of the later movies.

That book is called “Alien: Out of the Shadows.” I was just listening to the audio drama of it today, lol!! It’s pretty good overall. I don’t think the story, which takes place 37 years after Alien, would work well enough to be incorporated into the films, but it has some solid moments. The actress who played Ripley in the audio drama, Laurel Lefkow, sounded uncannily like Sigourney Weaver. River of Pain is the story of what happened on Hadley’s Hope prior to the arrival of Ripley and the Marines in Aliens.

I think that the alien being a tow actually makes the most sense, that we never saw it actually disconnected from the ship, and they found the Narcissus. That would make more sense than just finding the alien floating out in space, which is beyond a needle in a hay stack.

My theory for the movie is that ship hanging back, are the Weyland-Yutani Corp; observing, to see who'd go to the station, and watch them through the CCTV network. I bet parts of that station hit near the colony down there and a new outbreak happens. All the while the company silently observes and collects specimens to continue their quest for ultimate power.

Can the Xenomorph actually cocoon itself in space? Is there any previous lore that establishes this? I always thought that at the end of Alien 1, the xeno fulfilled its purpose in making a queen egg and providing a host for it thus starting a new hive. On the shuttle it seemed like it was dying / hybernating in wait for the queen or something like that since it was all slimy and sluggish.

The xeno would have to cannibalise its own mass to secrete that much cocoon material, and said secretion would have to be pretty special to coagulate in the cold of space. This would also imply the queen from Aliens is orbiting LV426 in a cocoon if she didn't fall back down. The eggs on the derelict were being preserved by that blue myst thing so it is implied to an extent that certain conditions have to be met for these things to survive, tough as they may be.

maybe people are going about this all wrong... maybe Weiland 100% knew how dangerous, how volatile and how likely everyone was to meet their death... it is very possible they had sent a virtual armada of ships to collect samples and every single time one got aboard, everyone died... so after losing so much of their advanced tech, decided that it would be easier to send a smart but unwilling host to "gather" one for them... they didn't need to send a ship to tail them, they just replaced one mid to high ranking officer on board each possible ship that would travel past LV426 and flipped the beacon when they knew one would be around... it would explain why they didn't get the signal on the way there, they wanted to catch them on their way back.

I know the director said there will be lots of brothers and sisters in the film, i wonder if Romulus will be the name given to the original Alien, and later we see a clone of the original Alien being Remus, slightly Red in color so the audience can see the difference between the two Aliens, also not showing us till the second fully grown Remus shows up, they could do a few flash backs of them creating Remus!!! The Engineer's are going after David8, the Alien's are on the loose killing any one and every one, the Weyland & Yutani's guards protecting the firms owner's and killing any Alien's and Engineer's that come at them and Walter protecting all the Covenant ships people who been settling on the planet , after all the that action, a engineer's ship takes off with a Queen inside them with out knowing and it crashes on LV-426!!!!!!

If Romulus is set some years after Alien, and the events of Alien took place in the same solar system as Romulus, then wouldn't the Narcissus have long since left the area?? Those lifeboats would be fitted everywhere so I wouldn't be surprised if one has been used to escape the destruction of the space station. Romulus - the myth of the founder of Rome. Two twins, Romulus and Remus. In the myth, Romulus kills Remus and goes on to found Rome. Alien:Romulus may suggest one of the siblings in the film becomes the founder of a new (xenomorph) colony, maybe by breeding a new Queeen? We also see "Romulus Lab" on a door in the trailer. Someone has been doing xeno experiments here? Is David back?

My theory was, albeit just a theory, that WY would have intercepted the shuttle not long after the explosion and taken the shuttle to Renaissance Station. Awesome catches, but let me remind - the alien has acid for blood, so forget the heat of the thrusters, how could the grappling line not be severed from that? Dissolves four decks of a starship but not a cable? Negative. Just to riff on the below comment re the gender-switch of Ripley: Veronica Cartwright was originally cast as Ripley after that was rewritten, I believe Scott went with Weaver after seeing her on Broadway, which was total news to Cartwright, who was told just before shooting commenced. Weaver is clearly taller and had that hard broad second-wave feminist thing going on in the 70s, but consider the impact on the franchise this one simple last-minute switch had. Weaver single-handedly tanked Alien 3 by demanding the screenplay have no guns, she's a liberal (her 1 child from 1990 is listed as "non-binary") and was producer on the film. The screenplay that "Neuromancer" author William Gibson wrote for it originally is EPIC. It's ALIENS on steroids, it's WORLD WAR X(enomorph). Well, that got tanked. Weaver denies it but I believe she had a hand in Michael Biehn's dismissal too. When actors produce their own movies, they become vanity pieces; giant thespian B-movie valentines to themselves. Rarely are they CITIZEN KANE (Hello William Shatner and STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER). Ergo we have her acting competition (which includes two acting icons of the 80s) the 'family' (Ash, Hicks, Newt) aborted w/ Ripley as sole dominating bitch, even giving herself a completely out-of-the-blue sex scene w/ Charles Dance, who becomes fish food almost instantly. She self-sacrifices herself, the vampiric alien queen embryo, and the franchise (or so she thought) spreading her arms out like Jesus on the cross - it's all absurd. But for all this to be valid she would have to have been producer on the even more ridiculous ALIEN: RESURRECTION, where SHE is the ultimate "new thing" resurrected like Christ Almighty and aborting yet another unwanted baby (with her as male inseminator no less!) while kicking around other cast members like a butch John Waynette. Well, she was! Hilariously again, all in the name of stopping those mad profiteers of the future. Maybe she wanted a second home in Malibu. Having said all that, I know Weaver is iconic and GHOSTBUSTERS, etc, but Veronica Cartwright can out-act Sigourney Weaver under a bus. I think the fact that Cartwright is so emotive would have gone even farther to the orgy of emotion she has to overcome to defeat the xenomorph. Remember also, it is Lambert who overrides Ripley's idea to continue hunting the alien (certain death) and instead blow the Nostromo and abandon ship, so even through her tears we could buy her as a Ripley making command decisions. Remember the slap that was cut too? Cartwright is smaller but she's a firecracker. There's a part in the MAKING OF ALIEN where Scott says he was just blown away by the acting of Cartwright. Rewatch ALIEN with all this in mind and not through the rose-colored hindsight of Weaver being an acting icon of the 80s and you'll see Weaver as a wooden stage actress (which she was) trying to hold her own against better screen actors. Stage actors have to use their voices to boom in a theater, it's why the one memorable moment of her chewing through some scenery is a completely unscripted bit they improved where she yells at Parker. In contrast, Cartwright's face is a virtual kaleidoscope of emotion. Her big doe eyes roll at Parker's lewd jokes and her dread of the creature becomes our dread. And for anyone who thinks Cartwright stripping to her panties in the finale would have been less desirable than gangly beanpole Weaver, I direct you to the film Cartwright did just a few years earlier, the X-rated INSERTS. Now granted, it's hard to imagine Cartwright as Ripley in ALIENS, because her feminine qualities (as opposed to Masculine Weaver) would work against her - this is a James Cameron movie after all. But maybe. Ripley is hardened. I'd love to see Cartwright in the LOADER suit going GET AWAY FROM HER YOU B1TCH. Weaver got 5 Saturn Awards for playing Ripley, but let's remember Cartwright got one too for playing Lambert. PROMETHEUS and ROMULUS both went w/ shorter, vulnerable more emotive heroines while the tall, take-no-shi1 gruff "Ripley-esque" Alpha, who burns a crewmember so he won't infect the ship, gets crushed. As I write all this, it's nice to see Cailee Spaeny is 1) short (at 5'1", even shorter than Cartwright), 2) looks tearful and fearful in the trailer, and 3) is more passive compared to the other characters, but is the one who ultimately overcomes. This is exactly the type Alvarez ran with in EVIL DEAD and DON'T BREATHE in the incredible form of actress Jane Levy, whose performances starring in both are a tour de force of emotion. Spaeny & Crew can't be using the original Narcissus to escape. The grappling gun would then not be stuck in the airlock when the salvaging crew comes across it 37 years later in ALIENS. And on that note: GOOD ON THE CONTINUITY PERSON WHO CAUGHT THAT FOR "ALIENS"!!! For all of it to have continuity, the airlock of the Narcissus cannot be opened for 57 years after the end of ALIEN. Period. End of. Just some of my own questions: Romulus kills Remus in the Roman myth - does Spaeny have to kill her "brother" the android or is it only symbolic in the two parts of the eponymous space station? They said they are tying this to the prequels and COVENANT took place 20 years before ALIEN and thus 38 years before ROMULUS. COVENANT ends with David, 2,000 colonists in stasis and 1,140 human embryos in cold storage along with 2 facehugger embryos, seven years away from Origae-6. That means Origae-6 has become whatever David made it for 30 years. Remember, Scott stated in 2012 the prequels were to be a "new trilogy." Is ROMULUS really a PROMETHEUS 2.5 bridge to the cancelled third prequel, ALIEN: AWAKENING, with the young survivors "escaping" to the colony planet Origae-6, which is where one might set the controls for after stealing a ship, hypersleep pods, and wrecking a space station that is the "property" of a nefarious corporation. There is other material entering the spacecraft in the supposed cocoon sequence in the trailer (small material, like snow), and it appears much larger material behind the "cocoon" being scanned. ALIEN ends with Ripley watching the Big Chap recede from her after hitting the engines. No way you can watch that scene and imagine it being towed like a trailer. After that the movie closes with her saying "I should reach the frontier within six weeks. With a little luck the network will pick me up." Well, they pick something up, but they do not open the airlock of Narcissus, the grappling gun shot in ALIENS is the continuity check on that. WILDCARD: Amanda "Amy" Ripley would be the same age as the protagonists of ROMULUS, which is set 20 years after ALIEN (she was 10 in ALIEN as per Ripley's grieving scene in ALIENS where says she promised Amanda she would be home for her 11th birthday). Does she join the young guns to go looking for mom, ALIEN ISOLATION-style? We know her married name becomes McClaren and she dies at 66 in Wisconsin, so be tough to imagine that after having gone through some ALIEN sh1t then be quiet about it. It's a stretch but look out for a guy last name McClaren in ROMULUS.

A lot to process here but I agree on the topic of Cartwright. She was one of the unsung heroes of the film as her performance was outstanding grounded and exhilarating to watch.

I mentioned it being the first alien on another channel and that it was in a cocoon but when you slowed that previous video down I noticed one thing, the alien is holding its head whilst slipping out of some casing wrapped around it, that's gotta be the cocoon.

I made a video dedicated to the cocoon theory last week. Some people pointed out that Fede Alvarez has made it clear that the original alien is not in the trailer other than a cocoon apparently. So, my guess it that creature coming out of a sac is some lab experiment as much as I hate to say it. However, if the film is written well, then I down for anything it throws at us 😁

Yes the alien is holding its head while it is still in the Cocoon for some reason the hands and the top of the head were on the outer wall of the Cocoon

@@aaronbreeds5132 you can see the xenomorph skull with two hands draped over its head as it's on the edge of the Cocoon... it absolutely is "supposedly". And then apparently there's footage that people do say of it on hibernating if that's the ridiculous term I guess you want to use for that and the way that it was described was exactly what I observed when looking over that rock or meteor and it's some sort of secretion but yeah the top of the xenomorph skull is clearly present with its head or excuse me it's hands draped up about 1/3 the way up its Dome exactly like it would be if it was in a ball.... my question is why did they design it like that though because it's not a false flag they obviously needed someone to see that..... why would that be on the edge but like it or not that's what it was..... is alive is it right or You Wrong Am I Wrong I Don't Know But that's what I saw.. as for the second part about people talking about it on hibernating on cocooning I'm really lost in a word for that.. they aren't the type to blow smoke they know more about it than we do believe it or not. Probably hard to do but they are out there. Will give them Credence right now for what they say that they've seen But there are people that have claimed to see the footage that you can see the hands move off of the skull possibly for the first time..... am I sold on that? No, I do have to wear with all to not shut the conversation down the way that it was presented

yeah ive said this before: why would weylandyutani outright send a towing crew to investigate something the felt could be so important if they knew it was there before the mission set out? the whole "ash was added to the crew last minute" thing makes little sense... only explanation was that they got wind that something might be out there somewhere and put ash on the crew just in case, and low and behold, they discovered a signal while the nostromo was in deep space... also meaning that the special orders were given after kane returned with the organism. also brings into MAJOR question why the company would then send a colony of NORMAL PEOPLE to the planet that they knew hosted this ship and eggs. if the nostromo was always intended to encounter the alien, at the very least the company should have realized what a bad plan that was, so why would they basically just execute the same plan and basically run an experiment on 'what will happen when we send 60-70 families to stumble upon this thing' ?

There's certainly nothing wrong with a more grounded approach to analysing Alien but I just can't help myself with all the conspiracy stuff. I try to state that they are nothing more than theories but I think as more films and series are added we might see more these things come into play perhaps.
