Great work Kev... You gotta love Sub-Div modelling. Nothing wrong with sculpting and re-top, but there is definitely something zen about extruding faces and moving topology.

The eggs are actually a bit translucent. You can see it in the first movie in particular when the hugger is moving around inside it.
@KevBinge
@KevBinge 2 жыл бұрын
You’re right, I’d have loved to do that but rendering and time constraints... translucency needs real subsurface scattering and that takes real render time. These things are best done physically up close anyway. Thanks!

Great vid! What’s the best way to deal with the changing ‘up’ axis (Z in Blender, Y in Houdini) when moving between the two programs?
@KevBinge
@KevBinge 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! That’s a great question, and in some alembic exporters there were check boxes for z vs y up. I don’t see it in the 3.0 Blender version. Sometimes I just reposition it manually. It’s usually pretty precise to flip.

@@KevBinge well that's what a great director wants, he's difficult to work with because people finds themselves lazy and being a celebrity diva or something. His duty is to show the world his work and he's ready to do it 100%, actors and production people are part of that puzzle, they are supposed to enhance the story. Well if we still thinks he's that hypocrite, may be Fletcher in the movie whiplash will do the honors for us ✌🏽
