I know your comment is at least 2 years old, I still feel the need to answer you ;) . They find out much more because the Nostromos was not a Science Ship and thus not equiped at all for studying Alien life and Ash was the only "Scientist". Meanwhile, Hadley's Hope was specifically built (in secret) by the Company to study whatever Alien Life in on the Moon, was thus equiped to handle it and had very capable (and of course extremely ruthless) COmpany Scientists ready and just waiting for the eventual Alien find. Also, Aliens is set somewhat 50 years after the first Movie and thus at least somewhat more technological advanced. It's also implied that by that point Humanity already did make contact with Alien Species, though it is never made clear with what Species and whether these were intelligent and not. Thus the Scientists had some form of theoretical Experience dealing with Alien Life.

For all we know the ship is opaque to radar...youre right, nobody spends so much money and time on a fusion powered atmospheric processor just to set it up blind, and I don't think they would just plop it down randomly, it would be built on specially selected and prepared land; they would fer sure AT LEAST radar map AT LEAST whatever side of the planet it's on, but if radar mapping didn't find anything, why keep looking? Maybe they have a computer doing the mapping and geographic surveys, and the human or computer looking just doesn't recognize the ship as a ship, and thinks, hmm , more probable it's just a funky rock formation, there's no way it's a space ship, and mark and label it as such

It was a dark n melancholy film as well- not most pls cup of tea. When I mean dark; I don’t mean violence n blood n action...I mean the race and the schizophrenic weirdos and the rest. It is not stiff that’s mainstream in any movie. Just too bad some critics & word of mouth, dampened a b+ movie, down to a C-

That single image of the giant chamber full of eggs, and how it looks like it goes on for hundreds of feet, if not miles of tunnels. That has always stuck in my head. Way more than the image of the space jockey. It always implied to me that the whole ship was full of massive cavernous chambers full of thousands of eggs. And I do think that’s what happens to the 2 or 20,000 colonists from the Covenant.
@PuLSeLV4266 жыл бұрын
Never thought about a queen in the derelict on LV426, but it fits. Prometheus gave us a good look at the immense size of these ships and their separated chambers. Loved the mix of what appear to be video game clips with other vid and pics, the whole presentation is superb. Haven't read that book, makes me wonder how a queen and hive can die out like that... I haven't spent any time online looking at Alien stuff like this since the 90's when the Alien Ring connecting multiple Alien related websites, was a thing. We were happy to get some pics and maybe download some short video and audio clips on a 14.4 modem (I still have them all). Times have changed. Brilliant! I think your channel is larger then the Alien Ring, this might take me a while...

There's a problem here. There were not eggs in the Space Jockey's chamber. The eggs were contained in a seperate chamber, far below the Space Jockey's chamber, which the Nostromo crew had to use a winch to access and there was never any sign of hive structures in the SJ Chamber either. The rest of this is fine up till that point, since the Nostromo crew entered the Boneship at a different point and could easily have passed through sections that bypassed the stuff the Jordans encountered, but as a cinaphile and anal-retentive continuity fan, this part rustles my jimmies something terrible.

The queen ( in my opinion) is what busted out of the space jockey's chest, burned a hole into the floor of the ship, cleared out the vast subterranean chamber, then later laid her eggs, being in Ripley's own words, " an egg layer." But there's several loose ends: the face hugger that attached itself to the space jockey was huge, the face hugger in ALIEN was much smaller but just as deadly. The missing link in this case is, how did the parisite go from being so huge to being as small as the final specimen: having also human fingers,and outside signs of both male and female genitalia ( pardon the adult connotations) it would have needed to have had extensive genetic manipulation which raises an even more disturbing question: how do you manipulate something as strong as alien DNA? It's biomechanical in nature, with " consentrated acid for blood." Did David do it all by himself, or did the engineers " program" it into their DNA for future alien generations to come?
@occam7382 Жыл бұрын
I personally think that the eggs were already there. They were the cargo that the spaceship was carrying, to where or why, one can only guess, but it's pretty clear that one of the crew got infected with a facehugger, and an infestation began, leading to the ship crashing on LV-426.

Thanks, this scene in the extended movie always left questions. You answered all but one and raised another question. .. .. Q1. How did Russ get back to the vehicle - Did Anne drag him back ?? .. .. Q2. IF Anne was within the chamber with Russ : Why didn't multiple eggs open in their presence ?? (As eggs do in Alien Resurrection's "ambush" scene)

Thank you, AT. Your work is excellent and you are a great ambassador for the Alien franchise. I'm glad I found your channel. These videos rekindled my interest in the Alien universe. Having grown up in the 80s and 90s, and like other horror film franchises, these films (Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3) terrified me as a kid. Unlike those other franchises, the Alien universe is still terrifying as an adult. Perhaps not exactly like the Xenomorphs in the Alien universe, there could still be some kinds of parasitic species out there. Seems like something we could plausibly expect to find somewhere out there as we explore the universe. That is a scary thought.

Your narration as always is absolutely wonderful, and breathtaking. I found myself at the edge of my seat listening to your description of this narrative. One immediate question I had while listening was, if in fact these Xenomorphs did Spawn from the engineers wouldn't they be larger than them? Also, I'm still a bit too reluctannt to accept David's creation or evolution of the Xenomorphs. I have a hard time accepting the fact that a good portion of this franchise stems from some sociopathic synthetic person gone wrong. But I still do enjoy the idea from Prometheus that this ship was intended to go to Earth. I also would love if you would go deeper if you haven't already, into what happened to Newts Family Once the infection or outbreak started at Hadley's hope.

I never liked the explanation of the derelict’s origin from Prometheus. I always thought of the derelict ship as being a biomechanical “living ship”, much like Moya from Farscape. And the dead pilot inside with the ruptured chest I always thought of as a symbiotic creature that grows inside the ship (much like what Dallas pointed out) and operates the living ship. Sort of like Moya’s pilot in Farscape. It’s more consistent with what H.R. Giger’s designs were supposed to suggest.

11:52 This is the turn back point. They found a crew member. Photograph it, video record it, and tag it. Maybe with straps, between the two of them they could drag the suited crew member out of the ship. They can tag the ship, and claim salvage rights to their discovery. LEAVE NOW. The moral of the Story: DON'T LEAVE YOUR KIDS LOCKED IN THE CAR ! ! ! :-( Even dead, on an alien world, disease and biological hazards protocols would still be in place. They could bag up the dead crew member - in his uniform, and break off a sample of one of the dried out aliens, Tail and head. Bag that up too. Put it back in the cargo area of their vehicle, drive back, and report their findings to the Colony. They Must publicly report their findings, to stake their First Salvage rights claim on the alien ship, and it's contents. In the end, it still would have ended badly for anyone finding the eggs and the rest of the Colony. But even here on Earth, in the Real World, when exploring a cave or something, people come to the point where you realize you do not have the right equipment, perhaps a remote camera tracked drone is best... and you do not have adequate safety gear. Also - confined space entry laws are in effect here and now on Earth. Sure you may have oxygen on the outside upper layers of the Alien ship, but one wrong turn into the closed off ship and they could find themselves gasping for oxygen that does not exist.
