Just saw this review. Really enjoyed it. As a console gamer my whole life, I've been looking into getting a pc for quite some time. I recently made the plunge and went prebuilt. Purchased an Aurora R15 with an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X cpu and 4090 gpu. Have been really enjoying it. I honestly can't believe how good this thing is. Runs like a dream. Have yet to get a monitor setup yet, but I will soon. Until then, I'll just have to settle for my C1 OLED.

I love this review, I bought Aurora R13 with the RTX 3090. this made me feel alot better about what i've done. I was a console player but since then moved on and haven't desired to move back. I was first using a 1440p alienware 27" monitor. But since I've bumped it up to a Samsung Odyssey Ark 1st gen. For good measure and I'm not the smartest man in the world when it comes to gaming values. But after I watched this review from start to finish. Hey there. I've been a fan of the Alienware line of PCs for a long time. If you know their limitations going into the purchase, they are great. I personally like picking up the older units (R10 / R12) and setting them with decent CPUs/GPUs. You can buy them for a fraction of the cost of new and there's nothing at all wrong with a 5600x and a 3060 12gb for most use cases including content creation and games. I've been looking at the new R16 and almost pulled the trigger a couple of times on one. I'm excited to see Dell take things in a better direction. I don't mind the proprietary nature of things. They've improved cooling and noise and that's what was missing on the older units. I look forward to getting an R16 at some point. I'm currently running a 12900K / RTX 4070 TI custom rig. I mostly use it for amin and content creation work so it's more than adequate. But I'm still looking forward to the R16 being on my desk at some point in time. Thanks for the great video. Cheers Rick

Alienware is the best imo. Not just talking about the PC but the WARRANTY is amazing. They'll literally drive to your house and fix your computer no matter where you live in the US. When my SSD went out, they sent me two SSDs for whatever reason. Replaced my screen for free when my dog bumped into it and a few other minor things that got fixed. Like the RGB lights going out on the front of the laptop. Plus I like aliens.

Finally someone who has something good to say about this setup. I'm a gamer who has no interest in building a computer and who doesn't care if the motherboard has usb ports attached to it, or I can't buy another power supply or upgrade my motherboard. Dell is too stubborn to make a good case. Even back when I was in the IT world, HP servers and workstations were levels above Dell in design, quality and a look, especially on the case. HP back in 2003, 20 years ago used a Coolermaster Case for their gaming PC, it was called the X09 and I built my first gaming PC copying what they did. Maybe some day Dell will spend the money and make a decent gaming PC with a case from Corsair or Coolermaster?

@@moop111 Alienware cases has always looked good, that is their thing. But the r16, r15, plus al the older models, and all dell workstation pc's use the same case. They just change out the plastics/outer shell of the case. On the inside it has been the same for 10-15 years. And that limits them alot. in fan suport, how many and witch size fans you can fit, cable management, storage suport. Same with AIO suport, max one 240 ( when my Phanteks p600s case fits one 420 in front plus one 360 on top). Also with the motherbords, witch all have to be proprietary. So yes, I love how it looks, and have always liked the way alienware system have looked, BUT, that does not change the fact that it is still an 15 year old case that has been given a new plastic shell and made to look fresh. But is still horibly outdated. PS I have dyslexia so sorry for all the spelling mistakes.

I really am puzzled at not maintaining an interior lighting. Btw at 10:10, if you study the charts I think it’s worth noting CyberPower, AW, etc. traded CPU temps at a more-than-adequate 75c for substantially lower GPU thermals which is considerably better for gaming than the other extreme. At 10:47 it’s no surprise the AW sits dead middle for 4K which is why it has excellent 4K performance. It’s by design to be a 4K targeted system.

I don’t game at all, but I’m a software engineer and also a podcaster, so video and audio work is heavy as well as code compilation, builds, and automated tests. GPU strain is moderate, but I/O speeds are my current limiting factor. I’m interested in this R16 because of its strength in noise. My office is my recording studio and a loud PC has no place there. I would never be able to build my own PC and get it quieter than the R16, so that’s my reason to go prebuilt.

360 mm would be three fans, so I would think it's not compatible. The case can only fit 2 fans on top? But I heard there's some new fans that are thicker that are better. May or may not be an option. The cooling is not the best, and but by limiting the CPU's performance to 90% (restrict BIOS options) hopefully they make sure that it's stable. And that's okay if the price of the computer is cheap.

What is your input on getting a single drive 4tb rather than 2tb OR dual 2tb m.2 PCIe? Would this be better for performance over all having separate files 1 drive for gaming 1 for miscellaneous? or all files in 1 drive? (Or add in the sata as 2nd storage be more useful?) Btw, appreciate your detailed video, keep up the good work.

Can you please make a video on how you installed the upgrades to the r16 with the hub? I am new to PC gaming and I want to make sure I do the upgrades on the r16 correctly.

The most clever thing that dell has done on r15 and 16 is they move the CPU radiator to the top instead of in the rear. Therefore CPU won't eat up all the hot exhaust from GPU. It cost how many years to make them realize that?
@pauleyplay Жыл бұрын
Outstanding Show ! Hooked me I just the same unit. AIO upgrade worth the cost ? XMP memory is needed to enable ? I know you cant with this machine. Kind of a dumb question.

I just purchased an Alienware Aurora R16 with an RTX 4080 . I ordered it on 10.3.24 but it is still not shipped. I am not into upgrading, maybe 10 years ago but not now. I had a Digital Storm Velox but it died on me. I found that the CPU cooler's pump assemble came loose from the CPU. It also weighed 65+ pounds and was very hard to work on. I enjoy your channel and I hope my New PC comes soon, supposed to be by 10.16.24??

you should really consider benchmarking the Micro Center pre-built computers to see how they stack up with everyone else too. I always thought they had good cost to performance as well as very good warranties for systems backed with very good in store support for upgrades and guidance.
@tonywong303 Жыл бұрын
I picked almost the same spec on micro center it actually cost more. I’m talking about $400-500 more so I think it’s a bargain to purchase from Alienware. Besides they have a Black Friday deal now.

As someone who has other alienware peripherals (headset & mouse) and has had alienware laptops in the past, I haven't used a desktop in over a decade, would you recommend this? I had to return 2 Alienware M18 R1's about a month ago (both had issues with hardware) would I be better off getting this desktop from best buy? (I have to use best buy due to having store credit) It's gonna be my first desktop in well over a decade, would the R16 be a good fit? Is the drives not having heatsinks on them a big issue for prolonged life of the PC/drive? Not looking to do any upgrades, just buy a PC thatll last me a few years without issue. Always liked the looks of Alienware.
@Ritzcrackers9911 ай бұрын
The best answer to all of these would be to build your own, Alienware is notorious for heating issues and hardware issues. If you build your own it will last you years and years.
@smokeyarcade11 ай бұрын
@@Ritzcrackers99 Yeah, I know that's what everyone says, "Build your own" I actually don't have a whole lot of space to work with and after crunching some numbers, getting new furniture right now so I can have a desktop is out of the realm of possibility.

I have a question. You get the 6000MT/s DDR5 32 GB Memory for upgrade but the Owner's Manual shows only support Up to 5600 MT/s. Do you get any issue with 6000MT/s? How about 6400MT/s? I also tried to ask their support team, they said only 5600MT/s too.

Most of the people hating probably never actually had a r16 , one of my best friends has one and they said it’s actually pretty good, it can get a little loud with the fans and heat if your playing high end games, but overall she said it was great and recommends it for anyone who doesn’t want to build a pc or doesn’t have the time. I’m also about to get one after December thanks to my grandmother (she works for dell) she’s heard good things from customers who bought the pc.

Just bought one of these Aurora R16s for a great price (Black Friday) and I'm relieved to see the video card can be upgraded. Mine can with a Geforce 12GB 4070 which is a great card in most situations but the memory limit butts up against the requirements of a few games. So I'd like to pop in a 4080 Super.

I’m looking into buying the Alienware r16 it’s mainly because I can’t pay outta pocket so I need monthly payments which Dell offers. I would like to know if Alienware is actually good Ik it has some overheating issues as well as the proprietary parts and such. Would you recommend the r16 Aurora for a person trying to play good games.

With them being on a big sale right now would you recommend the 4080 super version with the i9 14900F at $2200? I’ve never had a pc before I’m coming from ps5. My girlfriend wants a pc to predominantly play Minecraftwith mods and shaders. My concerns are heat and the proprietary nature of the build

Could ya do a fresh and latest review of HP omen 45L i9 4090 performance review and compare it with latest builds to see if anything has improved with updates or not? Is it possible for ya to include overlock performance for it aswell? I am aware that ya have already done a review on it, but if ya could do an updated one before sales start, that will be really kind and helpful. Do ya think that with overclocking this HP prebuilt can outperform others? Thank you.

Hello: I see you mention tones of PCs on your Networth, and I am so confused with one to purchased. I was looking at the DELL-R16 [14900KF and 4090] which cost over $3,699.99 on Dell's Websites. But looking on this model there is a few drawbacks I do not like, especially those GREEN-RAMS in which I prefer RGB RAMS. Can these GREEN RAMS change-out or what? Do you think this model worth my money?
