THANK you for showing each step rather than just talking about it. I've been reading blogs about how to do wavy/curly hair all day, and I had so many questions. Actually seeing you do it- especially the shower stuff (that sounds weird, but, you know what I mean)- was super helpful.

Your hair is always so frizz free and cute! You might also try using the praying hands method after raking in the gel. I find it helps form clumps really well. Also, I like to use a pic comb to raise the hair off the scalp at the end after dry. Love your videos!

I have one more tip. If using water to refresh curls, or to dilute a product, use distilled water, it'll leave the hair much softer. I had bottles of rose water, and orange blossom water in the cupboard for cooking, both are distilled. I thought I'd mix them in with a curl defining spray that had almost run out, to make it last a bit longer. Im glad i did. It smells lovely and my hair feels soft. Its especially good if you live in a hard water area x

I just found your videos and have really liked them! My hair right now is almost exactly like yours in your very first video about embracing curly hair (from like 2014). It makes me so happy to see such beautiful results from a starting point that I find so similar. If you could give one piece of advice to the you in that first video that you've learned over your journey to where you now, what would it be?? There's so much information for curly girls about the CGM, and the different products, and different techniques, but if you have one really hands-on, practical thing to do that you feel you really wish you could share with the "before-you", I would love to hear it!! Thanks for the content!

Fab question! I would say, get a big chop (I had so much damaged hair and I tried to fix it where it was un-fixable), and next to use gel!!! Gel has been my saviour for keeping those curls frizz-free, defined and juicy :)

If you are looking to increase the volume at the root, the best thing to do is use a pick. Lower your head and gently "pick" the hair at the roots around the crown. Shake your hair a little bit and viola. I find the best places to learn how to care for and style curly hair are usually from African American sources...these people have mastered how to work with curls of all types. Their techniques WORK!!!

Yes, I've tried using a pick, but I don't find it works great on my sort of hair, it just doesn't have enough thickness or density or something...

@alissaevelyn6 жыл бұрын
I think it's that because of what it's made of and the shape - it means it doesn't add frizz, and it helps the curls form smoothly. But, of course, if you've got a similar shape then of course use a different brand!

The shampoo contains sulfate and isn't CG friendly. The conditioner, though only £1 from Poundland, contains masses of alcohol. Because of this, you could just co wash with the conditioner; the alcohol is cleansing.

Great job here! Tell me why you removed some rows of the Denman brush? Im experimenting with my own Denman. I have thick curly hair. I like the definition, but it does shrink my curls a bit. Sometimes I use the Denman just to distribute my leave in conditioner. Then “prayer hand” my gel or cream

Honestly I don't know why I removed them other than I saw a couple of other KZbinrs do it, and so I tried it and it seemed to work, so I haven't put them back in... sorry there isn't a more technical answer! I agree it's great for distributing product :)

I think it just means there’s less abrasion on your hair, and it promotes the curl pattern too by the bristles being further apart... maybe... I’m just guessing that’s why it works!

I detangle in the shower with my conditioner too. I'm also a believer in using a good wooden brush to comb your hair out occasionally (dependant on your hair type). Layers will likely help too, so that's a reat idea to try it!

I agree with Lorena, but also, check out my video about curl type, porosity, etc, because it may be that the products you're using are too heavy for your hair type. And also make sure to wash them out completely, your hair shouldn't feel dirty or greasy or full of product - there's lots of different ways to be a Curly Girl, so you'll need to experiment a little! Also, check out the video I did more recently for Curly Girl Beginners, that might have some useful tips and insights :)

It can take a bit to get the cast. It can depend on porosity and also damage of your hair. Keep trying. A curl creme alone won't put a cast on my hair, I need a gel and mousse, some people it's just mousse. Keep experimenting. I do only 1 new thing for a week so I can tell if it's working or needs to be changed out.

🌺 Have you ever looked into the Innersense line of organic/natural products? A lot of their products were rated Best of Beauty by Allure in 2017. Their website says they’re a company “dedicated to purity, peace of mind, and the practice of self-care”. ✌️🙏

I would love to try them! They're now available more easily in the UK, so it's on my list of things to try. They're just super pricey!

Alissa Evelyn They are pricey! Their mission and why they make natural products is so lovely though (strong marketing there 😉). I’m going to try their volumizing foam, soon. 👍

With my hair it’s no joke I’m trying this right now it’s in the clips but at least with me if I put my hair in a half ponytail or clips when it’s wet my hair will remain wet for days just the part that’s up I think it was drying slowly because of the clips it’s weird I think that means my porosity is high idk 😐

Maybe hit it with some heat to speed it up once the ringlets are looking good? Yes could mean high porosity, or just high density?
