My bad with the audio levels. Thanks for watching!
Now Mobb Deep is a legendary rap group that originated in Queens New York. The group consists of prophetic rhyme slayer known as prodigy and the producer/wordsmith of the group known as havoc. Mobb deep has put out multiple bodies of work that most people consider classics but before they duo achieved their dreams and became legends in their own right they were simply two kids from the same neighborhood that enjoyed making music together.
Now Havoc and Prodigy met in 1989. At the time Prodigy went by the name Golden Child. Aftter hanging out a couple of times Havoc and Prodigy realized that they had the same vision, they knew that they had the same desire to make authentic music
Now in 1993 Mobb deep dropped their first official studio album called Juvenile Hell. After years of hustling the pair felt like they were about to finally make their mark on the industry however According to Prodigy, this album wasn’t them. It wasn’t the project they wanted to make because they didn’t have creative freedom to make the music that they were inspired by.

Prodigy got incarcerated for 3 years, in order to make money, 50 cent released them of their major label contract to make quick independent deals to stack money up. Havoc remains signed to G-Unit to this day as a main producer for the label. When Prodigy was released from prison, 50 picked him up and did his first song/music video with Tony Yayo and then second song with Trav. Prodigy was also featured on one of 50s main singles off Animal Ambition. RiP Prodigy

Exactly. Everyone keeps repeating the "ballerina" shit. Even the guy who made this video with all the research he did called it a ballerina. Just look at the picture and it's obvious he's dressed as Michael Jackson. Like you said, every kid wanted to be like MJ. Who did Jay-Z have on that same Summer Jam stage: Michael Jackson. Why? Because he looked up to him as a kid too. The irony is crazy. And Jay misrepresented the timeline too. He said "Back in '88..." but Prodigy would have been 14 in '88. That picture was when he was much younger. The whole thing was a lie that people fell for just because their idol Jay-z said it.

And the ironic part about it is. Jay brought out Michael Jackson after performing and premiering that record. The very dude that he’s mocking Prodigy for trying to be like. Lets not forget, 50 Cent and Banks looked up to Mobb Deep so to do music with them was like a dream come true, that's why they were all over Mobb Deep songs, 50 gave them money and 2 porches for signing and they didn't have any album out yet.

50 Cent didn't call Mobb Deep, Mobb Deep were looking for a new label and went to see Jimmy Iovine and he said something along the lines of "we'd love to have you at interscope BUT you'd be best off signing with either Aftermath, Shady or G-Unit and I think G-Unit would be the best place for you" (all 3 labels were subsidies of Interscope at the time) Prodigy first met 50 in person and was very hesitant because 50 had just released "Piggy Bank" that had a diss at Mobb Deep "Jada don't fuck with me if you wanna eat, or I'll do your little ass like Jay did Mobb Deep" after meeting with him though Prodigy was happy to sign with G-Unit, he even remarked how they got a $1.1million dollar advance ($550,000 each) and as a signing bonus got an imported sports car each. @@deezy81 that whole time period was crazy in hindsight. That whole Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit run was helped in large part by XXL basically becoming a de facto mouthpiece for that movement. No doubt, Jimmy Iovine at Interscope, in his war to take out Benzino, Dave Mays and The Source, put phone calls in. Interscope took all its ad-buys out the Source due to Benzino & nem being on that crusade against Eminem.

@@MichaelBrown-ti1un Yeah, and it helped XXL greatly as they were runner up to Source until that historic February 2003 Doctor Dre', Eminem and Fifty Cent cover which kicked off their official usurping of Source. Source never recovered from that, like Death Row after Tupac.

Some of the info in this video is very inaccurate. Prodigy & Havov are not from the same hood. Prodigy is from Hempstead Long Island. They met in High school, Havoc was always a rapper, he later started producing on Mobb albums. After LOUD records folded they had a deal with JIVE records the G unit deal after that. They didn't go from Loud to G unit. Jay Z got that photo of Prodigy from Ashanti who attended a dance studio that was owned by P's grandmother.

@MikeLARRY-rp4ml I've always said that was a G-unit album featuring mobb deep. But as we said, HALF that album was ALL mobb deep, tracks like "stole somethin" "put em in their place" "click click" & there are 1 or 2 others that I can't remember. Even outta control was pretty decent for a more mellowed out mobb deep song. But yeah, compared to ALL of the albums/music that they put out prior, this was their weakest entry. Can't lie, I remember being PISSED at mobb deep when they signed to 50. Couldn't believe after all those years of "fuck 50, 50's a sellout" & then they go & sign with the devil himself & sold some of themselves just to get that 1st platinum album (& they got it too) But they did go on to redeem themselves & when hav & prodigy finally got back together (if only for a short time🙏) they got back to that mobb deep music they we all knew & love. Havoc's still doing his thing & still one of the best producers out there & could you imagine if prodigy was still around? Dammmnnn!! Anyway, enough of my ranting, one love from one mobb deep fan to another. I know you'll get everything I said.👍

What people don’t know about that picture of Prodigy is he did take dance at his grandmothers dance studio Bernice Johnson Cultural Arts Center with all his cousins that’s still open in NY! So what? He was a kid many others don’t want or can sustain after the release of childhood photos.

Imma just give y'all a quick synopsis. They did 1 album & because G-Unit switched distributors from Interscope to EMI & Mobb Deep's deal was to be on G-Unit & Interscope, they were released from both labels.
