Well, I'd say the opposite. Without "strategic partnership" with the global south, including Africa, countries like China, Russia, and the U.S. (just to name a few) won't be able to thrive and grow. Now, the reality is that all of these global powers are looking only for their interests, not for mutual development with African countries, but that's another discussion.

The US backed Apartheid South Africa in the 80s when they pushed their colonial expansion beyond Namibia's borders and tried to takeover Angola. Luckily the Cubans came in and cut off their supply routes. Africa should never forget that the US is only interested in borrowing money that can never be paid back, looting resources, and ensuring there is sufficient destabilisation so that Africans can never rely on themselves.
