I don't see anything wrong with practising some aspects of religion, but when it permanently effects how children are raised, quality of life, housing, and health, I don't know if it's worth it anymore. "Let's continue to have 10+ kids while not being able to house, feed, or send them to school to break this cycle of poverty." Yikes.

I never singled those out... My mother was born in the Philippines and was raised there. I've heard much and studied plenty of the corruption in the police force and companies. I've been to the Philippines specifically Manila and have actively witnessed the corruption. But it would seem fairly ridiculous and foolish of anyone to think religion contributes only good to the world... As this documentary shows, having many children is a major issue because their religion does not let them use artificial contraception. I am sure you seem intelligent enough to take the evidence shown in the vid and come to the conclusion that religion does play a factor in their downfall, and not only corruption.

I'm pretty ignorant to all the inner workings of business and politics but I have a suggestion of sorts. Won't it benefit the entire community if for example, the government will hire and pay the residents of the slums in exchange for cleaning up the slums, then the residents will have a clean environment while also earning money. They can use the money they earned to buy food and other necessities or even be able to rent a home. It also helps the government by keeping the area safe and reducing waste and diseases reducing cost for medicine since there are less wastes for people to get diseases. And people with power can still line their pockets with more money.

That's one of the problems, most of them are having big families where in their impoverished situation is irresponsible and selfish. And those priests aren't helping the poor OUT of their situation in the slightest, only continuing to delude them in the belief that even though they're poor there is God?? But God would like them to help themselves out of poverty. And the uncontrollable population growth is a ticking time bomb.
@hijazzains982910 жыл бұрын
Its intriguing that the Phillipines is allegedly the most democratic in ASEAN, but allows the catholic church to interfere in family planning and condom distribution which is banned as sinful. I find this stupid. Malaysia where Im in, despite religion and ethnocentric policies allows active family planning services and allows distribution of condoms despite certain fundamentalist Muslims claim condoms are sinful and protested condom sale at 7-11 and supermarkets, though there are are no proof in the Islamic scriptured condemning condoms specifically. But then, Malaysia is also a major condom producer,so business interest comes first or its pragmatism. Economists also claim that as income rises, families become smaller, even Malaysia birth rate is falling across all races, even Muslim families are becoming smaller as their quality of life improves. In the short term,Phillipine should advocate family planning and contraceptives and in the long term improve its economy so that living conditions improve and birth rate will automatically gradually decrease. At current birth rate in Phillipine,s its population could reach 500 million 2050 while Malaysias current 30 million will only reach 40-50 million million by 2050. If Phillipines allow its birth rate outpace its economic growth, Phillipine could become a failed state by 2050.
@minim69819 жыл бұрын
hijazzains We have family planning. We have free condoms and birth control for all since the RH Bill was passed in 2013. This video was in 2013, so I dont think most people have been accessing it in the video. But birth control has always been available, it was just hard to get if you were poor. Now, everyone can easily get it. Also, at the current birthrate, the Philippines will NOT reach 500 million. You're exaggerating. It's projected to be 145 million. But that will go down because the birth rate has been falling every year for the past 50 years.
@jdlaw0019 жыл бұрын
Mimi Martin It's mostly the poor that needs the birth control and education since the above classes can afford them. The current pop. of 100 million is already too high considering the nation's small land mass. If you compare PH with say Norway where the land mass is slighly higher's than PH's, but their pop. is only around 5 million. Filipinos are breeding machines. The Church frowns upon sex education in the schools bcoz they say it encourages sex, but telling from PH's high pop. it's evident that Filipinos are already having too much of it.
@minim69819 жыл бұрын
jdlaw001 yes, I know this, but now birth control and condoms are free and provided by the government. The birth rate of the Philippines has been going down every year for the past 50 years. In 1960, the average Filipino woman had 7 kids, now the average is 3, and it's still dropping

I am Filipino from Philippines and for me, it DEPENDS ON THE PERSON if they want to get out of poverty. Both set of my grandparents are from the province and went to Manila for a better life. They were not college-educated and had to work blue collar jobs (drivers, repairman, maids) to survive. They worked hard for their children to finish their studies (high school and college) and they instilled discipline and frugality to their children. My parents got this sense of responsibility from them. They have no substance addictions, no gambling problems, no extramarital affairs. My parents worked hard for me to finish my college studies and stay away from bad influence so I can obtain a stable, high-paying job. I am so thankful to my grandparents and parents for raising me the way they did. Even though they grew up in poverty, they worked hard for me not to experience it.

Its unbelievable how people live in this kind of condition, while many of them thrive and smile at the same time. Just wow! Makes you realize that you really have nothing to complain about. The politician Reyes I really hope would have lost the election. I knew she was just all talk. Anyway, it really seem like much cant be done to change that place. These people need to be moved to another location where there is land and the gov build houses for them and give them something to work and earn. The rich people keep their money to themselves without even considering that they could partner in improving the lives of their COUNTRY MEN. SAD!

I went to Palawan they only have 46,000 population, fresh air nice seaside, surely this is the same in our other provinces' the problem is there's no school, no irrigation system for farmers, no water, no hospit al even health centre, so they go to Manila in search of good life, but unfortunately there is no gold in Manila instead it's an agony' so Politician do something in the provinces of the Philippines make an effort for big improvement'

Relocation programs could partially solve this. Subsidize those who want to return to the countryside. Life might just be better for them.

See I don’t care if you believe in God or not, but that doesn’t mean you can just be careless and just believe that God will fix everything you have to be the change yourself not just act like God will fix everything for you.

Look at the politicians and look at the general public , no need to say more , the picture of both tells the whole story , no need to go deeper than that.

31:28 Ate, be a good example di porket nagtatapon yung iba, ganun din gagawin mo.

Minute 12. Pastor. I will pray for your work and your family and your ministry there in the slum. A pastor while he is still living on this earth are not free from temptation, especially since he is spreading the Word of God. The devil will be the first one happy and benefitted if this pastor falls. So believers please pray for him and his ministry.

Politics in the Philippines is the dirtiest I know. Most if not all candidates are good only during election time and totally forgets about everything after winning. They spend so much money to win because they know they can get their money back once elected. And it's a cycle that is never broken because Filipinos vote based on the candidates popularity and good looks not on capability!
