Alkiliths-when demons invading the Material Plane get creative! (D&D Compendium of Monsters)

Alkiliths are dangerous demons from D&D 5e that can bring entire demonic hordes from the Abyss. All they have to do is fully cement their sticky bodies on a window or doorway and PRESTO! Extraplanar trouble for the whole family! As it turns out, killing alkiliths is just as tricky as keeping them off your windows. Their high movement speed, high AC, and strong health pool makes them able to dodge attacks, flee overwhelming odds, and survive fights that lesser demons might lose.

Youre heading through the dungeon/castle/cave, you enter a room with a clear way forward, and a window to the side, there are no obstructions to your progress, the window has valuables behind it, but it's covered in creepy moss and mildew. Now your players decide if they think it's worth it or not, or just an introduction to this monster for your players to scare the crap out of them.

If flavored as moss or lichen, I think it's pretty reasonable that people wouldn't pay much mind to a hiding alkilith, especially in high humidity climates. What I like most about Alkiliths is that they're easy to scale up or down for your players as needed.
