Ben I have a bit of a unique insight into some of this! I (also an American) have been residing in the Philippines for a couple of years now. Thailand and Cambodia is about to have a serious issue with the growth of Chinese offshore online gambling companies. Basically these are companies that are set up outside of China to launder money out of China, due to extremely restrictive capital controls within the Chinese banking system. The reason Thailand is about to see a large growth in this, is because these companies were previously primarily doing business here in the Philippines. However, in 2024 the Philippines government passed legislation banning these Chinese companies from conducting business in the Philippines. The Chinese gambling companies had until December 31, 2024 to exit the Philippines - and it is evident that they mostly have done so. They specifically chose to re-locate to Thailand and Cambodia, due to the relaxed visa situation in those countries. Thailand is going to see a large growth in kidnappings, government corruption, and international money laundering schemes. There is a reason the Philippines government kicked these guys out. This is bad news. I hope Thailand deals with this issue swiftly. These are wanted criminals in China who cannot go back to their home country. They will do whatever they can to extract as much money as possible, in the shortest amount of time.

.......and the current Thai government have just announced that they want to legalise online gambling. Surely this is a coincidence!

Thailand has pages of laws stating work only a Thai may do. Most unskilled labor. If you are not hired by an established company, hold a Thai work permit, or own a licensed, taxed business, you cannot work in Thailand period. They will arrest you and provide tv coverage of you being arrested for illegally working.

If we think the less than 2 dozen man commando raid known as 9-11 did some damage to America - wait until it is Thousands or Tens of thousands of birth tourism US Citizens coming back full grown and fully trained to take their places throughout our society just waiting for the word Go . The long game they are playing on our short sighted and forgetful society is a masterwork

Tip of the iceberg! Of lesser concern is the fact there are many hundreds of Chinese truck drivers coming in to Thailand in big rigs. Why isn't this being stopped? Once they cross the border into Thailand they should wait while a Thai driver completes the trip...no matter how long or short.

Thailand needs to keep an eye on all markets , in pattaya it's becoming hard to find a thai market stall holder , many are Indian / muslim owned . I've travelled many Asian and western countries ,and they seem too silently take over , and all the locals end up is unemployed or just handing out tickets for pittance

Even the Tourist police only wear black polo shirts with the Thai Imperial logo that reads in English "Tourist Police." That and and a ball cap. No other credentials. Even in Cambodia, the traffic police assistants are required to wear completely different uniforms so they won't be mistaken for Cambodian Police officers. And aren't allowed to collect fines. Yea, I don't live in Thailand anymore, but this sounds scary as it should be.

embedding Chinese police with the locals is extremely common across the Pacific and really they are only interested in crimes committed against Mainlanders, by Mainlanders.....those guys get a free plane ride at nil expense to the host country. and it rids them of a potential problem...where it does get messy is China doesn't recognise dual citizenship so your recently acquired Aussie, NZ, Canadian passport might not save you....
@Pad_See_Ew23 сағат бұрын
If Chinese Nationals will be "policing" in the Kingdom, shouldn't they be wearing CCP badges instead of Royal Thai Police logos so foreigners and the Thai population can tell the difference?

FYI - Foreigners in Thai Uniform is not a new concept. In 1966, at Korat RTAFB, I saw a foreigner in a Thai AF, Captain's uniform, being driven in a Thai AF vehicle. I asked the Guard at the gate and he said the fellow was USAF retired, married to a Thai, who had joined the Thai AF. Since then rumors have circulated that Americans can 'buy' Honorary Rank in the Thai Military - YES - RUMORS... However, considering how easy it is to pay off police officers and how often car owners are fined for false problems....!!!

In my native country this has been done in a very quiet and unofficial way by expanding the CCP security in diplomatic missions. The same type of expansion has infiltrated various European countries. Chinese police are being placed in foreign countries on a world wide basis. Orwellian prediction realized,just a little after 1984 date.

The BRICS, if approved by Thailand, would create a no currency/all digital system. This according to past BRICS press releases. There is a question if nonmembers countries refuse to pay in BRICS digital currency, will tourists or expats be able to transfer funds to themselves in a BRICS member country. Is the B10,000 digital wallet payout to Thais the precursor to BRICS?
